My daughter recently graduated from Mountain Shadows and my son currently attends the school. My wife and I love Mountain Shadows. When we relocated from the northeast to Boulder, we were looking for a school that would meet or exceed the high-quality education that we came to expect from our daughters private school in Boston. To be honest, our experience has surpassed our initial expectations. If you are looking for a high-quality education for your child, situated on an idyllic campus in Boulder, then I highly recommend that you schedule a tour and see all of what Mountain Shadows has to offer.

As a newcomer to the Boulder area several years ago, I researched the extensive range of educational choices in both in the public and private arena for my then upper elementary school student. If you are seeking an educational philosophy that embraces fostering of independence and confidence, learning by doing in a safe environment, differentiated instruction, collaboration, peer mentoring, and highly-trained teachers, I highly recommend Mountain Shadows Montessori. It met my high expectations as a parent, and most importantly, gave my son a love of learning he carries with him as he continues his path in high school and beyond.

Our family loves this school! The teachers and staff are the best, the classrooms and grounds are beautiful, and the materials and teaching methods meet the high international standards we expect from a Montessori school. This is the second year in the primary program for our almost-4-year-old son, and it has been amazing to witness him growing calmer and happier and more confident. We are really seeing the value of Montessori education and plan to stay with Mountain Shadows all the way through 6th grade.

Both of our children have received a well rounded education at this school and are strong independent children. The environment, teachers, staff, and curriculum are cumulatively supporting the best early childhood education we could hope for our children.

Our experience at kindergarten was great and we loved the community but sadly at the elementary it dramatically turned into a different story.

I do not leave reviews, but this place, and these teachers have earned one. Our son James was in the YCC. He is our only child, our little pride and joy. We were so worried that we were bad parents for putting him into school so at such a young age. We worried for nothing. Mrs. Kay, Mrs. Lacy, and Mrs. Patricia were all wonderful with him. They loved him and treated him as if he was their own child. He cried for the first week or two, but from then on he grew and flourished!! We are so thankful for how hard these women work, and how well they treated our son. I hate reading through reviews, I feel like you never know what’s true and what’s not. But, I can promise you this one is from a parent of a kid that has never made a wiser decision. The school is amazing, they were so honest and so fare. We had to move for a Job, but when we did, the saddest thing for us was taking our son out of MSM, and that’s saying a lot because Boulder is an amazing place. To Mrs. Kay, Lacy, and Patricia, thank you for all that you do, and all that you give to these little ones, Jennifer and I will be forever indebted. He still constantly asks about you 6 months later...

Our daughter has been at Mountain Shadows for 2 years now and our son will soon start - the campus is gorgeous and the teachers are amazing!
