My son has been taking voice and piano lessons at Harmony House for over three years now. He has an excellent instructor (Carly) who has not only developed his skills, but also his passion for both music and performing. She has a unique ability to challenge him while keeping it fun. My extended family and I are always impressed with quality of the bi-annual recitals that Harmony House puts on, even in the current virtual realm. I highly recommend Harmony House to anyone of any age who wants to explore music!

My son started Zoom ukulele lessons with Harmony Music House just before he turned 7, and I have been so impressed with his progress in just 3 months. Willie really knows what hes doing--teaching a kid with no musical history and through a computer screen! Communication with us parents has been consistently great, too.

Ive been taking voice lessons now through Harmony House weekly for about a year, and cannot say enough about the professionalism and focus my teacher brings to her work. Most of our lessons have been virtual, and this is working every bit as well I think as our in-person sessions. Thanks and well-done.

Our daughters have been taking ukulele lessons with Willie as part of their pod learning and it’s been a great experience. Willie makes learning super fun and they both (ages 5 and 7) really enjoy it. Would highly recommend Harmony House!

I started taking Bluegrass Ensemble classes at the Harmony House a few years ago. Since then I started taking banjo lessons with Robby, the owner. I cant say enough good stuff about both of them. The school is cool, funky, homey with a lot of talented teachers. Everyone in each of my classes has really enjoyed themselves. It has made me want to play banjo more, and I have seen progress in my playing and performing. Robby is a great teacher and teaches other instruments as well as the banjo. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to expand their musical knowledge and talent. Simply put, they ROCK!

Harmony House has been an amazing place for me, my friends, my family. Robby and his cast of instructors are truly amazing. He took my love of music to a whole new level - reconnecting me with my violin and my passions. I have been in his bluegrass ensembles for over 2 years now (almost 3!) and look forward to each session, each class, each song. I grew up playing the violin and taking lessons. After college, grad school, marriage, and a child, I wasnt sure i could pick my violin back up again. Robby eased my fears and welcomed me into a whole new genre of violin for me.Harmony House and Robby have given me my chance at music again. I have seen what they have done for all musicians - kiddos through adults - young and old. Amazing. Moving. A community of people who dont judge, love music, love being together and making music.

I have been taking one on one lessons as well as group ensemble classes at Harmony Music House for several years and highly recommend them. Robby is a great instructor. He has been encouraging and effective for me as I started learning a new instrument. It is evident that the business has a primary focus on teaching music. Robby is always willing to adjust his schedule to accommodate changes or continue working on a song or technique and it is clear that his focus is on the students goals. In addition to one on one instruction, the ensemble classes are an amazing opportunity that allows students to bridge the gap between practicing at home and playing with others. The atmosphere is encouraging at all times, and the performances at the end are always a lot of fun.Where Harmony truly is successful is building a community of musicians of all skill levels. I have met many of Harmonys teachers and students and have made friends through taking music lessons there. The house itself is warm and inviting, and is a comfortable place to learn and practice. I am very thankful that when I was first searching for a teacher that I chose Robby and would encourage others to take lessons at Harmony as well.

Robby and the staff of Harmony Music House deserve 100 stars on this review. I started with individual banjo lessons about two years ago with Robby, and since then I have participated in three bluegrass ensembles. I have been pushed musically and my growth includes a better understanding of the secrets of my instrument, actively participating with other musicians and finding my place in an ensemble, performing in front of an audience, and (super scary for me) singing. I am lucky to have found this musical resource gem in Boulder. The sounds at Harmony are so inspiring: a ten year old playing the trumpet, a woman singing and playing the piano, and a bluegrass group working out a fiddle tune. Amazing, fun, open-hearted, and a musical celebration of life!!

The bluegrass ensemble classes are a lot of fun and very constructive. We have the opportunity to learn not only from Robbie but from all the other players. Creativity comes out in making up breaks for traditional bluegrass and folk tunes and also in modifying rock/pop tunes to fit the group. Robbie is an excellent teacher, patient and encouraging. Often available to help out in private sessions.

I’m rather new at playing guitar. I found the Bluegrass Ensemble experience at Harmony Music House not only welcoming, but accepting, as well. I’ve attended two series so far, and each has been rewarding. I feel encouraged as a musician and have gained confidence playing in the group environment. Highly recommend!

Harmony Music House is a truly special place that I would recommend for all music students - children or adults, beginners to advanced players. I have participated in the Bluegrass Ensembles for years - they are such a wonderful way for adult students to learn more music, play in a group, and have a great time! It is a completely supportive environment, so whether youve been playing for years or are new to the world of music, you will feel welcomed and be given every opportunity to grow as a musician. My kids take private music lessons at Harmony and have had universally awesome teachers. Theyve also attended the summer ukulele camps and really enjoyed them. I cant say enough about what an amazing studio this is! From the owner to every teacher and staff member I have encountered, these are simply great people and great musicians who want to share the gift of music.

I play with both the Jazz Ensemble and the Bluegrass groups. I have been delighted to find a supportive community of fellow musicians interested in making music together and growing as individual musicians and groups. As a harmonica player, my instrument isnt traditional for either group, but the instructors have done a great job to incorporate me into the music and help me develop as a musician. It is a friendly and supportive place, that also helps you get better.

I began taking violin lessons when I was 6. I trained classically for years and then my teacher introduced me to bluegrass and I knew that was a better fit for me. But as I got older, I began to practice less and less. My parents didn’t want me to quit, but I did. Well, I did and I didn’t. My mom started looking for new teachers. I tried 3 or 4 other teachers. Some were good some were just not a good fit. Finally I joined Harmony House Bluegrass Ensemble. I really liked it. Suddenly, every time my mom asked if I wanted to do another session the answer was always yes. Last year I started taking private classes with Robby. Now it all clicks for me and I realize I truly love music. I’m inspired and I am even teaching myself guitar. I found a place to play and learn and connect. I’m so glad I never quit and I know I’ll stay at Harmony House through high school. It’s the right fit for me.

I tell people the Harmony House is the best kept secrete in Boulder! Alas, its too good to not share. Not only are the one-on-one 50 min instrumental lessons extremely high quality and fun, the eight week ensemble classes and occasional intimate acoustic house concerts make this place an exceptionally unique and full service music house. They also provide camps for kids. If you ever thought about picking up or refreshing your skills on guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, bass or any other instrument, definitely give these guys a call! Youll be glad you did.

Harmony is the best. Incredible community of extremely talented teachers and musicians. Ive been in the bluegrass ensembles, the jazz ensembles and taken music lessons here for four years. Robby and Dave are such visionaries and always create the best bands and setlists! Cant speak highly enough of the warm, creative environment, the fun teachers and students Ive played with, musicians Ive met and lifelong friends Ive made, plus all the great tunes Ive learned over the years! I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Harmony Music House to anyone looking to learn how to play their instrument better, how to play in a band or ensemble, or improve their music theory knowledge, or introduce their little babies to music with Bonnies toddler music class!

This was my 5 year-olds first formal experience with instruments...and she had such a wonderful time! Summer camp at Harmony was a great balance of music, fun, outside play, and social interaction. They did a wonderful job and made my rather shy daughter feel comfortable! I will definitely take her back for lessons at Harmony!

We love Harmony so much. Our sons trumpet teacher, Eric Dorr, has been working with him for several years, both before and since he began taking lessons through BVSD. Eric is a patient and skilled teacher who has given our child a love for playing great music and a great foundation that he is now building on to explore increasingly challenging and interesting pieces. In particular, we love Harmonys approach to recitals, which showcases the kids musical development in a homey, encouraging atmosphere.

I think the instructor was good but was frequently on tour so this disrupted the progress of the lessons. My schedule changed so I decided to shift to another instructor closer to home which has worked out well.Be very careful to keep track of lessons and dont let a credit build up because you wont get it back. Even after Robbie agreed to split the difference on a refund, I never got the hundred dollars back. Repeated emails got no response. Lesson learned.

Harmony Music house is THE place to go to learn bluegrass music in Boulder. I have participated in three bluegrass ensembles and taken multiple lessons from the highly skilled and experienced teachers at Harmony. Through this three year journey, I have become much more confident playing music with others and have learned the basics of bluegrass such as the 1-4 progression and how to count for tempo! This has been super helpful for the bass and other instruments I play. Further, Robby and the staff at Harmony are extremely friendly and supportive. Its more than a drive through music school, its a community!John HeiselNiwot, CO

My older grandkid started trumpet lessons with Eric Dorr about 4 years ago and continues to this day. Eric is a great teacher, is relaxed, relates nicely with the kids, and is a fine musician. When our younger twin grandkids started 5th grade a year ago we enrolled them on clarinet with Debbie Marshall, who plays the instrument with orchestras in the US and abroad, but who also has had a great touch with the twins, and they thoroughly enjoy their sessions with Debbie. Harmony House is a well-managed music school with great teachers.
