We selected St Philip for our daughter after researching and visiting several schools in the same area. We selected St Philip because of its location, small class size, and welcoming environment. Being a new kid can be hard and the staff and students at St Philip made my family feel welcomed from day one. Despite COVID the school provided a rigorous education both virtual and in class. The school made many adjustments to the classroom environment to ensure the student’s and teacher’s safety. I would recommend the school to any family!

My son has been at the school for 4 years. St. Philips School provides students the academic rigger necessary to take them to the next level. Students go on to attend the very best high school in the national capital region. To be successful, the academic program requires parent involvement. If you are not committed to your child’s educational development, then select a school may not be for you. The principle is nothing short of outstanding, providing the focused leadership required to educate male students—she maintains control. If you are looking for freedom and individualize for your kid, this school is not for you. Communications with each of his teachers has continued to be great—we work jointly in my child’s development.

My family has been at St. Philip the Apostle School for over 13 years from pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade. We are an African-American Catholic family. I am from Washington DC and currently live in Clinton, MD. My daughters have received a good, quality education that has allowed them to continue onto respectable local Catholic high schools. We have worked with the Principals and teachers for many years and have been very pleased with the educational work they are performing for our children. I am a product of Catholic schools and have to constantly remind non-Catholics of the reason why Catholic schools (and Christian Schools) have to charge for tuition and other necessary items. It is nothing new that religious based schools are self-sufficient and self-funding with no or very limited benefits from the local or federal government. In regards to diversity amongst the staff, the school is and will always be diverse. Any person who is up to date with todays culture will know that everyone school struggles with attracting males and others to the field of teaching. In my 13 years at St. Phjilips, my children have been taught by male, female, those in Consecrated life, Latino, African-American and many other cultures. My family stands by the diversity at St. Philips and will challenge others to improve the situation by encouraging their own children to enter the field of education and become teachers. Lastly, we support and admire the Principal who has always put the youth at St. Philips first and foremost. Many may not agree with her structured manner of administration but the idea is to provide a good, solid structure for the children with solid, moral teachings. It is unfortunate that some are unhappy and feel that they must go to social media to get something off their chest or to ruin what is actually a good effort to try and educate our young people. If you think money is the motive for Catholic schools then you are sadly mistaken. Teachers at Catholic schools are there because they want to be able to teach not spend the day as disciplinarians. They are paid less than teachers at local public schools so it a conscious choice to teach at a Catholic school. Saint Philip the Apostle Catholic School is a good choice for those who are looking for a structured environment that has a great reputation of educating our young people while instilling good, moral teachings and life skills.
