DONT GO TO THE SCHOOL- I was in TPA from kindergarten to 3rd grade and here is why- When it was in the old location it was good and nice but in kindergarten everyday i would get food poisoning in first grade i kept getting headaches because in the cafeteria there is no water there in 2 grade it was nice but the class was near the church and the church kept stealing stuff and in 3rd grade i got bullied and no teacher cared they just said ignore them LIKE WHAT if they keep saying mean stuff then we have to say something if you keep your child in TPA make sure they stand up for them self and if they DONT and still trying to find a school take them to DC prep so much better and if one of the people from TPA remember me yes its Adaya and i went to dc prep if your asking people and stop if you are about rumors about me it is wrong. Bye Pineapples!

There is probably a whole book I could write about all the bad things in the school which I technically couldnt do because the curriculum is horrible and I could say that my reading level is maybe second grade level fourth grade level at the most and Im in the 8th grade but I dont have enough time to write everything down so just look at all the other reviews nothing about them are lies they are all true 0 stars.

My child attended this school K-3rd grade. We had no MAJOR issues until the 3rd month of 3rd grade. My child was in an over crowded classroom, where learning was not conducive. The teachers were AWESOME. They all love what they do but the school Admins & Board Members do not provide enough resources to these teachers to do their job. The test scores are the proof. I made the decision to remove my child, and enroll my child in my neighborhood school. The results are EXCELLENT! I advise anyone considering sending their child to this school, speak with some parents first. Dont let the free transportation be a deciding factor. Take a good look at the actions of the staff, ie Principal, counselors, department chairs, etc. Google them...check their credentials. Email the board chairperson. Had I done this first, I would not have sent my child here.

To the Parents/Guardians its VERY important that you read this WHOLE ENTIRE REVIEW. My review is FACTUAL/ACTUAL all REAL and NOT made up! Its no wonder the Board of Education is considering to have Turning Point Academy Public Charter school SHUT DOWN! What a disappointment this school is. The school doesnt have a LIBRARY, a PLAYGROUND, and NO LOCKERS for the middle school students. The teachers are VERY, VERY RUDE! No type of communication to parents re: grades. They will just let your child sit and give the child an E for not submitting assignments, etc., until you see the actual report card. During the whole time, you look on the school portal for grades, and realize that they GRADE DUMP at the last minute. The school board has a long list of items of why the school should close. The students are being bribed to beg the school board to keep the school open. If they do, the students are rewarded a HOMEWORK pass. The teachers are coaching, guiding and practicing on what the students would say when they approach the board. One of the reasons (and this is JUST ONE) for considering closing the school is student (LOW) academic test scores. The teachers were allowed to MAKE EXTRA TIME DURING and AFTER SCHOOL to coach these students on what to say to the board, but CANT MAKE TIME TO HELP the FAILING STUDENTS with ANY MISSING ASSIGNMENTS or MAKE UP ANY FAILING ASSESSMENT GRADES, or MAKE TIME TO COMMUNICATE with parents in order to bring student grades up? Since theres no library, how do you expect a student to be able to learn and do homework, like school projects, and book reports if unable to after school? Distinguishing. They have their favorite students, so Im not surprised if those are the ones who did the begging to the school board to keep Turning Point Academy open. Please look at the past and present reviews, especially the ones from the students. Nothing has changed. Students are bullied without any concerns from teachers but are quick to catch a student uniform out of place. Teachers yell at the students too. A student wrote a review about being suicidal and this is a review from an honor roll student, who was an outgoing child. NOW that is sad. AGAIN, I stress the teachers are allowed to do whatever they want. Dress however they want, nothing professional about this school, staff or anything. The principle has made it so relaxed for these teachers that this is why Turning Point will NEVER be a success. That is a GREAT concern. 1 Star is too high for a rating, ONLY because in order to post and close this review, I had to give it a star.

I just received a flyer in the mail form this school. I did not get a good feeling when I looked at the advertisement and kept asking myself, why does this school ring a bell? I decided to Google the reviews to confirm my uneasiness and was highly disappointed by the experiences of the Families that attended this place...I immediately trashed the flyer!!It’s no surprise that they’re changing locations from Lanham to Camp Springs. I’ll pass, No thank you, and just imagine if the reviews weren’t here to warn other families!!A family member of mine who’s child attended this school confirmed the comments from this review. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD)REN AT THIS SCHOOL!!

This school is the worst school. You play in a parking lot and the teachers barely watch you. When I went there there was also a shooting incident and everyone wasnt quite. The PE teacher I had was mean too. Mr.David was the only one who was nice to our class. The school also looks like its going to break down. SO I ADVICE YOU TO NEVER GO TO THIS SCHOOL!

Ive been at this school since Kindergarten. Im currently a 9th grader in high school, and I was glad to get out of TPA. This school is the WORST school you could EVER send your child to.Here is a list of all the things they have done wrong:1. Most of the teachers do not care at all. When you get in trouble, they either yell at you or send you to the office. When I was sent to the office my 8th-grade year, for being on my phone, the principal did NOTHING but send me back to the classroom with a measly warning.2. The curriculum is complete trash. I was praised for all my outstanding essays, but, this year, the first essay I get back from my teacher was graded with a 60%. I worked my absolute hardest on that essay! Turns out, TPA prepared me to fail.3. The buses break down every day, and the buses are overcrowded and EXTREMELY hot. The bus drivers are rude and I caught one of them staring at my chest! (You should really do a background check on them.)4. The food in the (multi-purpose room) cafeteria is DISGUSTING. One of my friends found a fly in her sandwich, and another found that her food was ICE COLD! The cafeteria staff dont know how to cook vegetables; they are always mushy. The only thing they actually know how to cook is chicken, and they cant even get Oven-baked chicken right!5. Finally (theres more, but it would take too long), when they have field trips, they cancel them last minute! The school is old and rundown, and there are no stall doors on the bathroom stalls!Things they did right:1. This school taught me to work hard and to have discipline.2. This school taught me how to be thick-skinned because the children and staff here are cruel.3. This school taught me to bring my own lunch to school because the food they serve is literal POISON.Overall, you do NOT want to send your child here. If you do, I warned you.-From, a former student

PARENTS...DO NOT...I REPEAT...DO NOT send your child or any of your children to TURNING POINT ACADEMY!! (Honestly) WORST thing that Ive done, was enroll my child to this school. Im so sorry that I didnt do more research. I feel awful, I feel that Ive failed my child by sending them. Dont know what I was thinking, but I assumed by the school being a charter school, my child would benefit. NOT! Teachers are unprofessional. They yell at the students, they talk bad about students to other parents, its a complete mess. There isnt a library at the school, so the children are taken by bus to visit a local library. BUT THIS hasnt happened AT ALL this year. Terrible! WHAT SCHOOL IN PG COUNTY DOES THIS??? No lockers at all for the 6th - 8th graders. They tell parents to utilize the family portal, but when you do, the teachers dont do their job in updating the system with the grades. They have a practice of retaining students at ANY grade level. You make an appt. with the school about the retention letter. When its time to sit down and discuss, they will have other parents present in the SAME meeting. Theyll say that its a general meeting. Again......WHAT SCHOOL IN PG COUNTY DOES THIS?! Those teachers are able to do ANYTHING they want.If you receive a letter of acceptance for this school, you better tell yourself that your child is better off where they are currently. BUT if you do enroll your child, dont say I didnt warn you!

Where do I begin,My child has been attending this school since the 2nd grade. There are so many negatives about this school, I could go on and on! The teachers are always playing musical chairs, one year they are teaching second grade, the next year they are teaching 6th grade science. When I went to school, this has never happened! I feel this is a reason why students test scores are so LOW! This practice makes no sense to me at all. There a very few teachers who are professional, and Im using that term loosely. As for the principal, she is the worse of them all. Unprofessional, irresponsible, I can tell she is what my mom calls a hood booger. They enforce the uniform policy on students so much, that if something is off with their uniform, the child could face the possibility of being written up. Mean while, the principal is walking around in a SUN DRESS and SANDALS! How? How? My child got into an incident last year where another student assaulted my child with a rock and my child had to get stiches. But because this students mom is friends with the principal NO DISCIPLINARY action was taken against that student!!! It is horrible to know that such things like this happens in the PG County School systems, let alone a charter school. Now this transportation system that the school has is Exquisite Limousine, the absolute worse transportation system in all of Maryland! The buses break down almost every month, the buses are more than likely over crowded which raises a safety issue. The buses are supposed to go every where in the PG County region to pick up kids. However, I have to drive my child 35 minutes every single morning to the bus stop, afterwards my child has to sit on the bus for a whole entire hour before getting to school. This transportation company they are using is very unprofessional, bus drivers need to have DRUG TESTS! I mean youre driving our kids around for goodness sake! Im paying my taxes, I should not have to do that much for my child to catch the bus to school every morning, when the transportation company should have more RELIABLE DRUG FREE drivers, more routes, and more RELIABLE buses to be able to pick all the kids up! Not sure if the company has been working with the school because they know somebody/ related to someone at the school or what, but this is absolutely ridiculous! Please dont be fooled by the charter school part in the title of this school. This school cannot get any worse in my eyes. Then again, this is the first week of school. Looking for new schools for my child now!
