My son and I both take classes at Sandoval Karate. The staff is great and the instructors are very knowledgeable. My son enjoys his classes and his focus and attention has greatly improved since attending Sandoval Karate. I especially appreciate them offering virtual classes during the pandemic, it has helped us keep some sense of normalcy for my son. The classes are great and they will push you to do your best. They are also very patient and caring with kids. I would recommend this dojo to anyone who is interested in learning martial arts.

Our family has been going to Sandoval Karate in Chandler for 15 months and we love it. Teachers are experienced, knowledgeable, and they will work with you to get you better at each class. At the end of each class they play a game with the kids, sometimes with adult class too. lol Its a fun way to finish class. The kids are learning to pay attention, respect, and to earn based on the work they put in. Teachers are very good to take the ability of each person and meet them at their level of expertise. I recommend this for both kids and adults. Its a good activity for the whole family, and keeping a little bit of healthy competition home on whom is going to get their next belt :) PS - in time where we couldnt attend class in studio, we had the option to do Zoom calls. It turns out to be very good classes online, and great way to keep learning from home. So thank you for taking care of us.

MONEY HUNGRY business with NO customer service. My son didn’t like it and doesn’t want to return but, they only want MONEY. It’s apparent that the kids are only contracts and $$, because this is what Jen told me “We have 500 kids signed up! Why would we make contracts people can get out of!?”$170/month for an hour a week.....is ROBBERY!!!In the midst of this pandemic, they don’t temperature check or sanitize equipment between classes.IF YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT IT! DON’T DO IT!!

Jennifer at the front office was so friendly and very helpful and informative when it came time to get our little one officially signed up! Poor business practices and are only out to get your money! Ive been financing my grandsons classes through autopay. Sandoval has not held classes since March of this year but Sandoval was still withdrawing $77.50 twice a month from my account. I had asked them to cancel the classes multiple times and to reimburse me for all the times classes were not held or not attended by my grandson. They would not reimburse me but only offered credit/ make up time. So I put a stop payment on their account and now are threatening me with collections. I had left a message with Jennifer via phone...she has not called me back to discuss this further. She relayed an email to my son regarding collections. This COVID thing is not ending any time soon and Karate classes are non-essential. So credit/make-up time is not going to cut it! God is my vindicator or Karma!

I can’t say enough about the professionalism and quality of care and instructors at Sandoval Karate. I took my son here for the first time today, as he has just turned 3 and is at that age of enrolling in sports.Upon arrival he was instructed to take his shoes off and sit on the mat. He was then placed with 2 other toddlers that had already been apart of the class, as they both had Sandoval Karate gear on. After 15 minutes of his first session, he was escorted back to me, and we were told to leave as he “doesn’t have enough discipline”. Mind you he was not yelling, screaming, throwing a fit or anything. He was just simply excited and couldn’t keep his eyes forward at all times. He threw punches when he was told, and stood at attention when he was told. He just did it with excitement.I wanted him to join Sandoval karate to socialize, learn self defense AND MOST OF ALL TO LEARN DISCIPLINE. I can’t see on a child’s first day of lessons, how he can focus as hard as 2 other children who both know the structure of the class. Maybe after a few classes or even a week of classes, I could see how the instructors decide if a child can adapt or not. But after 15 minutes, you can’t give a 3 year old the time of day to learn the role of karate??Overall very dissatisfied with the costumer service as well as the lack of effort to teach a child.

As a single parent, I desire to provide my son the best tools to be successful. With Sandoval Karate, they have helped my son focus, to stay determined, and to be disciplined. From the age of four, I have seen him grow into a young leader and build strong relationships with his peers. Now his seven years old, and I could not be any more happier with his growth. One of many reasons why I continue to keep him here, is because of the male role models; not only do they provide the knowledge of Karate, but they have so much compassionate for these kids. Jennifer, the Front Desk Manager, has seen me go through so much and she has bent over backward to help us time and time again. I consider them as a part of our family.Thank you Sandoval!

I just have to write a review because I cant believe there are negative reviews on Sandoval Karate. I will say that SFK has done worlds of good for my child and our family. The staff is, in fact, VERY kind. I have not had a problem with one of them the whole 2 years we have been coming here. The instructors are amazing and Miss Jen is such a sweetheart. She is always greeting the parents and the children whenever she is walking by, takes time out of her duties to chit chat with us, and is just very helpful and kind. It is a little crowded for certain classes but thats not the issue with the school. The size of their suite they rent is not a reflection of their talent and ability to teach. 5 stars for sure. Never a doubt.

Unfortunately, the end of my experience with Sandoval was not pleasant at all. After a year with them, my daughter decided she wanted to pursue other sports. I was waiting for the notice they send every 6 months to automatically renew or cancel your membership. When i finally received the letter it was postmarked 6/20. The notice was due by 6/12 and said if I didnt notify them by then it would automatically renew her for another 6 months. I called and expressed that the letter was sent 8 days after the notice was due. They informed me it was just a courtesy to send those letters and that all the other parents know when its time to renew their kids. I did not want to burn this bridge as childrens interests change as they grow. She came back and informed me there was nothing they could do about cancelling the membership and that I would still have to pay the $150 a month for the classes whether she attended or not. Within 12 days I received a call from a collections agency saying they were taking me to court for breach of contract if I didnt pay the balance. It is now ALREADY listed on my credit as a delinquency. I am a single mom and pay for all her activities on my own and this one really hurt me and my credit. Be careful with this place as they are ruthless in the end.

The instruction at this karate school is great. The teachers are skilled martial artists who are very patient, kind and work well with the kids. I would give this place 4 stars if it wasnt for Jen the front office lady. She is very rude and has a fake vibe about her. I have talked to other parents and many of them feel the same way. She seems to care more about the money and getting new customers than she does about keeping current customers satisfied. I understand that this is a business that needs to make money, but as someone who has trained in martial arts most of my life I do not feel right having my child train at a place where the management just doesnt care about the art. Overall, the instruction and teachers are top notch but the management holds this place back from being great.

Sales person contacted us while shopping at Walmart and encouraged to try for a month and they suggested we come on Tuesday. We liked the idea of having my son try for a month. First visit the instructor was very patient and helped my son. The part I didnt like is right after our first visit they invited us to their office, closed the blinds, and told us we had to make a 6 month commitment after just a 45 minute session. When I said we wanted to try for a month first as was promised to us she said we couldnt come on Tuesdays anymore which is the day that works for us. Felt like a bait and switch and high pressure, I want a company I can trust before making a $1K commitment. I dont like the idea of a 6 month commitment either as your child is still trying to figure out if this is something they want to do, we will try somewhere else. Could be a great place if they change their sales tactics.

Sandoval Freestyle Karate(SFK) is awesome! The owners/instructors are enthusiastic and work very well with the kids. My son has thrived so much since starting the Little Dragons Class (3 - 5 year old). He started SFK at age 3 and will be turning 5 this coming year. Hes become more focused, follows directions better and his confidence has gone through the roof. The Instructors (Paul, Jerry, Bill, Allen, & Kristi) are very focused on the kids. They know all of their names from day one. It is AMAZING how much our son has changed is such a short time. They are working on life skills not just martial arts. Each class has a different focus ( there are things like memory, coordination, self control, discipline, focus, etc.). They have a thought through system that really motivates the kids. I highly recommend Sandoval Freestyle Karate.

They set up outside Peter piper pizza and other businesses drawing potential customers in and offer a free one time session. My husband and I took up the offer and took our son to try it out. Our first impression of the place was that it was OVERLY crowded. Kids bumping into eachother, not enough seating for parents, it was hot and stinky, and although the karate instructors seemed to be good with children and knowledgable, the fact that there were SO many children crammed into a small space it hindered my childs learning experience. We were really hoping it would be a little smaller group so that my son could get the personal attention he needed. Despite all of this, they zoned in on my husband and I immediately after the session ended and brought us back to their office to try and sign us up. My son has always really wanted to learn karate, but I was concerned about how crowded it was and specifically asked if everyday was as packed as it was that day because we felt our son wouldnt be able to learn to his potential with so much distractions and lack of space. The owners assured us that it was only crazy on Thursdays and that the other days would be much smaller groups. Hesitantly we signed our son up. BIG disappointment!!! We took my son for 3 weeks after all different days and never did the crowd get smaller! My son had a hard time focusing because there was just too many people and they hardly worked with him. For as EXPENSIVE as this place is, it is NOT worth the money, plus we were lied to. $150.00 a month is what they charged us. They need to slow down on enrollment because its going to cause people to withdraw theyre children and discourage any potential new customers from enrolling. We have even seen them standing outside another business just a few days ago trying to get MORE customers. This place would have been worth it had it not been so overly crowded with kids and parents. Id suggest staying away from this place and taking your child to another karate facility that can actually provide a personal touch instead of yelling over the noise of a crowded packed room of kids and parents

My daughter has been attending this school for 2 years now, and Ive been studying here for about 1.5 years now and we both love this place. My daughter started with the little dragons class and learned the basics and started sparring and really having fun. Back in August she moved up to the traditional kids class and the transition has gone smoothly. As I said Ive been studying for almost 1.5 years, and the adult class is a great workout. The instructors enjoy working with all levels of students. They really excel at teaching the younger students as they understand the limitations the younger students have, but know how to instruct them at their level. The instructors not only push the students, but are continually working on improving their own martial arts too. Its fun to hear the instructors talking about other classes they are taking, such as BJJ and new techniques for the TAC class that is offered at the Gilbert location. Speaking of the TAC class, I really enjoy this class as I think it has actual real-world applications of self defense. Stephen really takes the TAC class really seriously, but makes it loads of fun. Between my daughter and me, I spend about 4 days a week here, and everyone is like a 2nd family. They always treat me, my wife, and my 6 year old daughter with respect, Ive never had an issue with anyone being rude. I would definitely recommend learning martial arts with this school as they are dedicated professionals always willing to try their hardest to help their students improve. Great School.
