Greg, is a outstanding instructor!!! Not only is he all knowing of anything that has to do with the Bartending profession but he also makes it fun. He has a state of the art classroom with several full service stations including all equipment and tools that actually work and makes it able to practice tending a fully stocked bar of Spirits, Wine, and Beers.He goes over ever procedure in detail and even makes the testing fun.The only complaint I might have is that it ended to soon. I had so much fun with my classmates, and Greg I will miss the whole experience, but he does offer review classes for free that I will be attending also. Great place to learn and get an immersive bartending experience. As close to the real thing as it gets with live drink and live ordering simulation - the only wet-bar school around. I took my first course the week before the Covid lockdown, so I wasnt able to practice for over a year. I called Greg to see if I could take a refresher course, and he let me jump into a live mixology class the same week. I feel super prepared and way more confident thanks to his extra support. Honestly hands down this is the BEST BARTENDING SCHOOL IN CHICAGO! Greg does an amazing job at pushing you to be one of the best and is prepping you to work in a busy and fast paced environment. Greg, the instructor, spared absolutely no detail when designing the class. Bars are fully stocked with colored water to mimic the actual drinks, every student has their own station including tools and a soda gun, and the class is well paced to help you quickly build confidence behind the bar! Honestly the best experience by far. I definitely enjoy all the hands-on drink making, the straightforward teaching and just the vibes of the class. It’s a lot to learn but so much fun during the process. Wow, the name of the school fits the program perfectly. Greg is very professional, and goes out of the way to help you. He knows his stuff, thanks to him; I feel like I have bartended for years. Great learning experience! Pretty intense, but you learn so much! It’s great to be able to recognize brands, techniques and drinks we’ve been exposed to during the training and be able to say “oh I know how to make this!” Or even to explain to friends all the ingredients in a drink! I certainly feel more knowledgeable today. The owner, Greg, is so down to earth and hilarious! It makes it easier to go through the 4 hours every day. I definitely miss the dog, Zeus, haha. A-List is absolutely the place to be if you are looking to become a professional at bar tending. Greg, the instructor is amazing at what he does. Since he is an experienced bartender for over a number of years, the information that he provides is key! He will go over the basics/history of each liquor/cordial/beer/etc. The live stimulation is where everything gets fun and interesting! You will learn how to professionally hold a bottle, you will learn how to use a pourer, and free measuring. You will learn how everything that you need to know to confidently walk into a bar, snatch a gig, and perform well. Plus, a lot of bars have a lot of respect for A-List from what Ive seen myself. If you have a question, do not hesitate to ask either; Greg will go over a subject until you understand it, but please do not take that idea to your advantage, as you will need to do your part aka STUDY! Overall, my experience in class was everything; Greg is well informed on this subject, and because of that, I thoroughly enjoyed his 2 week course; it was fun and informative at the same time. I met some really great people during the class, and weve kept in touch. Id honestly do it again! The class is well worth it!

Greg covered so much material including types of alcohol, making mixed drinks as well as specialty drinks, general knowledge of the POS, making change, dealing with difficult customers, Illinois law on serving (Basset Certification), plus much more. After researching all of the options available I attended A-List because it had the best reputation and I wanted to learn from a professional. I had zero experience in the bartending/serving world so this was all brand new to me. One week after taking this course, I interviewed for three jobs and received three offers as a bartender. One at an upscale high volume restaurant, the other on the main floor of a large local casino. Pro tip: Study the basic cocktails Greg gives you at least two hours a night. Within a month you will have them down and those are the cocktails that you will be asked about in your interviews.

Greg really puts his heart into the work and the training. The facility is modern and pretty darn close to what its like in a true to life serving situation. Its a gauntlet he puts you through, and theres a lot of information coming at you all at once. He cares about having you succeed, but he makes sure youre putting the work in as well.

What I liked the most was the hands on experience behind the bar. The simulation drills especially the last three days were awesome. I really felt like I was already working as a bartender. Now, I feel more confident to work in the real world. Go to this school it’s worth every penny.

Best two weeks ever. The owner Greg is funny and knows what he’s talking about. Theres a lot of information he teaches that you need to learn before the final. So if youre not on you s**t then you wont cut it. We did live simulation where you practice behind the bar as if your on the clock (making drinks for “customer”, service well etc). Highly recommend if you really want to be a professional bartender and not one who can only serve rainbow shots.

Taking this helped me gain a lot of confidence in my ability to bartend. Classroom setting, as well as s fully functional bar to practice on, plus a teacher that presented the material clearly, made my decision to go here all the more reason I got a job in the industry shortly after completing this course. I highly recommend A-List Startenders to anyone seriously interested in working as a bartender. I gained so much knowledge within the first week of classes. Greg not only has students practice making drinks, but he also teaches the characteristics of different beers, liquors, wines, etc. I felt (and still feel) like an alcoholic beverage expert.Although I had no bartending experience prior to taking the class, I was able to create a pretty appealing resume. I was landing at least one interview per week the week I began applying and thereafter. I completed Gregs class on November 14 and I snagged my first bartending job the first week of December. So far, my experience working as bartender has been great! I am so glad I took Gregs class.
