I have been a student at Vaudezillas since March 2019. I took Burlesque Level 1/2 twice with Red Hot Annie, Level 3/4 with Shirley Blazen and then Floorwork with Red Hot Annie. In all of my classes I have felt safe, seen, and always comfortable to ask for modifications, extra help and Annie always provided. Sometimes, she stayed five minutes longer to show me a move. Sometimes, Annie set me up with other teachers who can show me what I needed. I have done about six shows and although I was always nervous, I felt safe and met a lot of great friends in this community. I am forever thankful for the opportunity this burlesque studio has given me. It helped me heal some trauma and boosted my confidence in more ways imaginable. I am sad that the place I looked forward to going to every week is no longer in physical form. I miss the people. I miss my friends. Most of all, I miss seeing my teachers and learning new dance moves, talking about costumes and showing off our new pasties.Annie always showed me the utmost kindness. She always pushed me to do a little more, encouraged me and she was always respectful to every single one of her students. Red Hot Annie loves her job, is passionate about burlesque and it shows authentically. Although burlesque is a performance and we are all performers, there was nothing ever performative when interacting with her off stage or in class. She wanted the best for us.Thank you Vaudezilla and I miss you so very much.

This place was amazing. We came for a bachelorette party and Annie was fantastic! The entire group of all ages had a blast. This is highly recommended for anyone! You will not regret it!

I love the teachers at Vaudezilla! They are so fun and encouraging of all shapes, sizes, genders, orientations, dance abilites, etc. Everyone is welcome, and they definitely make you feel that way! The space itself is nice, an intimate studio space (they cap classes to make sure everyone is comfortable) with some cheeky decor. Most classes have the option to perform in the student showcase at the end of each session, which is always lots of fun! But of course always optional if youre not comfortable performing in public.

Vaudezilla brings class and sass to the Chicago burlesque scene. They not only have amazing shows at Stage 773 every Saturday at 10:30, but the hold classes so you can learn how to do burlesque also.
