We just finished the 4 week beginner course and cannot recommend it enough! If you ever wanted to learn salsa dont even debate it anymore take this class. We learned so much and it was such a relaxing atmosphere. Absolutely amazing

I walked into my first class with two left feet. After a few classes I think maybe I should apply for Dancing w the Stars. This is a great place to learn and tons of fun.

I learned a lot in the 4week beginners salsa course, and now feel like I have the basics down which was my goal! The class has a good pace for beginners, Michael is detailed and patient teaching classes along with Cate. The studio is nice, clean, with awesome vibes. I had lots of fun meeting new people and definitely will be going back for the salsa drop in classes!! I definitely feel more confident stepping out in the club to dance 💃🏽 salsa!!! Yayyyy 🙌🏽

There are couple of things that I want to point out about the experience I had.Salsa is danced on 1 when you go out clubbing. It is NOT true that salsa is danced on 2 when you go out. So I particularly don’t agree with the fact that people is being misinformed. I go out to dance often to different places around the city. Salsa on 2 DOES NOT predominate the dance floor in Chicago city.I arrived 30 minutes before class was over. I was charged full price. Maybe I am wrong but I found that “unfair”.Bottom line ....if teaching salsa on 2 is of preference then be honest to your clients and do not give false information.Prorating clients might keep your clients happier.

One call in to the owner, who invited me to a free Salsa class the dance company hosts in collaboration with the Chicago Parks for the local youth and I was sold.I signed up for 3 classes based on my schedule for Salsa on 2 with Michael Angelo. Besides being very welcoming, charming and super personable, he is passionate master of Latin dance and a true disciple of On 2 dance legend Eddie Torres.Michael Angelo gives clear and articulate instructions and does a fantastic job of ensuring that everyone is engaged and challenged; modifying his instruction to ensure that everyone progresses based on their current level and ability. He gives personal attention to everyone and goes the extra mile to explain music theory, demonstrate styling and gives excellent practical advice and commentary on social dancing.The dance studio is well lit, clean and has a great sound system including genuine percussion instruments ( we had the privilege of listening to Michael Angelo play them as part of his music theory instruction ).I came in without a partner and had privilege of dancing with some of his more advance students who were also very welcoming and happy to work with you as you learn. The student teacher bond with his students was very evident and the energy in the studio was great. In the sessions I attended there were students from 20 to I think 60plus and we all had a chance change partners to gain insights on dancing with others.I left his classes edified, more confident and deeply inspired to continue reaching and studying this beautiful art.The price per session is very reasonable and I feel this is great place to start learning and evolving the skills that will make you shine on the dance floor, all while meeting others and getting in a nice physical and mental workout !!Thank you Michael Angelo!Gino

Amazing teachers and energy!

Im not sure why its taken me a few years to write a review, but better late than never. Ive been taking salsa classes at DAS for several years now and really feel as if I have a good handle on movement. Miguel is an excellent instructor and is extremely patient. I love meeting and dancing with new partners. Nevertheless, I look forward to the day I have a regular dance partner.

Such a great teacher for Latin dances. Felt likebwe could actually take these lessons to a wedding and impress our friends. Recommended. Great restaurants nearby, too.

The instructors here are excellent. Though you are in a group, you feel like youre getting one on one instructions. You are encouraged to ask questions, and go over each instruction until you feel confident you can do it. You only get encouragement from the instructors, they never seem to frustrated, no matter how pretty you are doing, they will find a way to encourage you.

Dance Academy of Salsa has excellent instructors. Ive taken classes with both Miguel and Michael Angelo. Like father, like son... They are both talented. Miguel is extremely patient with students and precise with the instruction.Lately, Ive only taken classes with Michael Angelo because he teaches the higher level. Michael Angelo is talented and creative in both the bachata/salsa styles and regardless of level will push your dancing. Even if the class is full of people, he will point out areas of improvement so that you can become a better dancer. This is extremely valuable because you are getting individualized feedback for the price of a group class. Additionally, unlike other instructors, hes able to provide suggestions to improve guys styling AND ladies styling.The instructors want you to look good on the dance floor! Highly recommended.

Miguel and Michael Angelo are phenomenal instructors. Very patient with everyone. I learn something new each time. Also, Angel another instructor there is good as well.

My husband and I really really enjoyed our dance class Miguel was soo very patient and he made each step and dance easy to understand. We will definitely pay him another visit.

Michael Angelo is amazing. We did a private class with him and learned the basics of bachata. He is very patient and a great teacher. We will take a class again soon.

Very good instructor Miguel , classes are fun and if you fall behind he works with you to try and get you up to speed. Could not attend the session during the holidays but my wife and I can not wait to get back into it.wait. to get back into.v

Very fun dance classes. We went on Friday, there were some short classes in bachata, salsa, cha cha cha and meringue. Then they play music so everyone can dance until 10pm. It was definitely worth going, it was cheap and fun. Furthermore, the instructor is bilingual.
