I was terrified of driving until I met Michael, my instructor at Citizen Driving School, who is a wonderful teacher. You will learn a lot if you simply listen to his directions and follow them. Believe me when I say that everything he says will only benefit you in the long run. If you want to arrange an appointment with this driving school, inquire about Mikes availability. Today I received my drivers license. This is, in my opinion, one of the best driving schools.

I got my license last Friday. This driving school is the best. My instructor was Michael and he helped me a lot to improve my driving. He is a very good teacher. Really great place to attempt a driving license test. They will let you take an hour of driving lesson which is basically to check if you are ready for the test. Once they feel you are ready, you can book a test appointment. Instructor Bo also gave a complimentary driving session on day of practice which was the exact route the examiner asked me to take. Highly recommend.

Before this school, I never thought I would get my license. Today I took my exam and passed. Mike made sure I was ready to be on the road. He will give you the individual attention you need and center the lessons around things you need to improve on. I have no regrets about going to this school. They were always professional and had amazing communication.

Got my license within a week! Took 8 hours of classes with Mike and he was excellent! Always prompt and helpful. The biggest positive was that he got me driving on the road immediately and it helped my confidence. I was very comfortable with him as he knew every nook and corner in Chicago and didn’t even need to use Google maps and had the opportunity to drive on all kinds of roads with different levels of traffic. He even made me drive while it was snowing which was extremely helpful.Michelle was great in arranging classes according to my schedule.

I can only give a good review on this school. I practiced my driving for 7-8 hours with them, Michelle set my schedule according to my convenient time only during the weekends. Mr Bo instructed me throughout the driving practice with patience. On the road test day, Mr Bo took me to the Secretary of States, borrowed their car, and let me practice on a few possible routes for the road test. And I passes on my first chance. Thanks a lot to the staffs at the Citizens Driving School.

The most affordable driving school in Chicago. I got my license through them and it was a wonderful experience. Instructor Michael is a veteran driving instructor and very knowledgeable. He will guide you through the whole process without yelling or getting annoyed. Be sure to ask Michael to be your instructor. He is the best.

Thank you so much to Citizens Driving School and Michael for helping me get my license finally! I came in with absolutely no prior driving knowledge and it took me some time (1.5 months around?, Im sure youll get it even faster!) but I was able to finally get my license. Michael is a really good instructor and ensures that as a beginner driver you have all the tools you need to succeed. Both my roommates also took classes with him and appreciated his teaching technique as well. He is strict but that is helpful to make sure you know the road rules well and are equipped to drive on the streets! Make sure to book an hour or two for practice the day before you take the road test so that you are not rusty since that was my main issue when I took the road test the first time. We were back the next week, practiced (Friday) and was warmed up and ready for the test today (Saturday). Michelle is also super helpful in helping you schedule classes which I appreciated! I havent driven at all before so thought of going through a driving school and citizen driving school was my top choice. I really liked how my first lesson went with instructor Ben. He was really patient and taught me everything from the start. I did 12 hours with him and Michelle was really helpful in scheduling my classes. Driving test was a breeze as one lesson was driving through the same course the DMV (south) folks will ask you to ride on your test day. Pickup and dropoff for an added $15 was also quite helpful during this pandemic time. Overall im extremely happy and definitely worth the price. I would highly recommend to anyone planning to take lessons in Chicago!

I recently moved to Chicago from another country and I need to get familiar with the traffic rules of here. So I decided to take a few classes with a driving school. Lucky me , found Citizens driving school. They provide the service in a very great professional way and in a good value. Michelle helps in scheduling appointments and Bo was very generous in giving instructions and helping in learning. I strongly recommend Citizens driving school.

My instructor #4 was a great driving teacher thats the only reason they get 1 star but Michelle is very rude and disrespectful, does not know how to talk to people at all. I had an emergency and couldnt make it to my appointment the next day at 1pm I texted her the night before at 9pm letting her know and telling her when to reschedule me for. All she did was text me a picture of the cancelation policy (which I was fine with paying $25) she called me next day very rude and disrespectful talking over me and wouldnt let me get a word in and I was trying to tell her was I dont mind paying the $25, but I couldnt she hung up on. Today I texted her letting her know I just want a refund because I will not spend money with people thats disrespectful once again she only sends me picture of cancelation fee so I called her to see why she sent that and she was rude again and hung up on me.

They are really proactive with communication and if you want to reschedule your class, they are really helpful. My driving instructor Michael, he was really helpful. He was on time everyday. Great experience from start to finish. I was able to schedule my lessons over the phone or through the online portal. My instructor Mike put together a custom plan and route for me after my first lesson to address any areas where I needed to improve. I passed the drivers exam on the first try as a result. Mike is the best instructor that I could have ever asked for. I started my driving lessons right before the pandemic unfortunately they had to shut down for a while but we picked it right back up when the city allowed us to. Mike was very patient with me being that I was a beginner and I was an individual that was afraid to drive. because of my own fears it took me a little longer to get to the point of taking the road exam but Mike never gave up on me and he was very patient and he taught me everything I needed to know. I felt safe with mike and I felt confident with Mike. I would recommend him to anyone. i just received my license this past Friday and its all because of everything that Mike has taught me. So when I first decided to go to Citizens Driving School, i thought I would take a few months to learn how to drive and be ready for the test. Well, I was wrong, it took me about a little under two weeks to get my license. Setting up appointments was easy, even during the pandemic. Michelle was really nice, and was willing to send information and help me get ready for my first lesson, even during non-business hours. She usually is the one setting up schedules, and she is very friendly. My instructor was Mike. He has a tough but fair approach, which I think is the reason why I was ready for the road test so quickly. We started from the very basics of handling a car and moved to the next lesson once I was ready. The lessons you learn are compact, but it is the foundation of defensive driving. Also the lessons are pretty cheap,, I only paid 36 dollars per lesson. Each lesson is an hour long, and you more or less spend the whole hour driving. There are more expensive lessons, but in order to get your license, you only need the 36 dollar ones. Also once you are ready for the test, its best to get to the Secretary of State as early as possible. Once the test is over, you can get a ride back home, although that depends where you live. I can say this was a really good experience for me, and I did not think I would learn so quickly. This is the place to go if you want driving lessons at reasonable prices with helpful teachers.

I haven’t driven in 10 years and I was able to get my US license after 8 hours of driving in the city with instructor Mike. Really appreciated the pickup/drop off service especially during this time when the commute can be difficult! Also make sure to ask for Michelle when you call as she will clearly explain the services and get you scheduled in no time!

Mike is absolutely amazing. I can honestly say that I was a very inexperienced driver. When I first went to the website I was skeptical but when I saw the affordable prices I contacted the school right away. Mike was my driving instructor. One week ago, I received my license after taking the 8 hour course. Flash forward to today, I drove a box truck for the very first time! When I started my lessons with Michael, I could really tell that the school cared about people learning how to drive correctly and safely. I would just think back to all the safe driving skills that Michael had taught me. Its a great driving school to go to and I highly recommend it!

My very first lesson was August 11th and my last lesson was today August 15th. I took a four hour lesson a hour each day and learned soooo much within that time frame I can honestly say Mike is the best I had. He has everything mapped out for you already so you have no worries. I’m still in shock of how much I learned in that little amount of time. If you do something wrong he will always correct you and show you how it is suppose to be done. Thanks to Mike I just received my drivers license today. He is very patient and understanding as well. This driving school is the cheapest and the best. Some may say that he is hard but no he’s not. He only want what is best for you at the end of the day. He would never tell you anything to put you in a messed up situation. Michelle was also a very big help she dealt with all of the scheduling. I would recommend taking enough lessons until you feel confident enough to take the test don’t rush it. They are very professional they always answer the phone and they always answer and questions or concerns you may have. If you want your money worth come here it’s worth it I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I wish there was a 0 star but unfortunately there isnt. For the two days I spent here, I had a horrible experience. Of course my instructor was the angry, impatient Michael. Really impatient to the extent that he insults and calls you names despite hes not the one paying for the atrocious service. On the second day of this awful experience, this man told me I had mental issues because I couldnt make a good turn after so many tries. When you make a mistake, he talks about that mistake for the whole ride till you make another one. He was always grumbling and he gets annoyed so easily, which is extremely irritating. And when I called the office girl Michelle to make a complain she hung up which I expected to happen, since theyre so unprofessional and rude. My advice to anyone going here is to know how to drive before going there, and if youre scared of driving, do not bother coming here, else youll regret it big time.

I just had my first class with this school and Mr. Bo was the instructor. I was pretty nervous, and sometimes made some bad moves, but he kept me calm and called me back to earth because I often got so anxious on the road, he would remind me that all was well. I liked how he would reassure me and remind me that Im doing okay. He would correct my mistakes and also give good feedback. I feel more comfortable behind the wheel now, but I just need more confidence and need to stop having such a heavy foot. 😅 The front desk lady was very kind too! 😄 If I have any family members who are in need of classes. Id recommend them to come here. 🙃

Thanks to Bo and Citizens Driving School, I got my license today with just six hours of practice over three days. I was a nervous first-time driver, but luckily Bo is a very patient and determined instructor. Although I signed up for eight hours, he saw that I was ready to take the test sooner, which accelerated my timeline and saved me money. Trust Bos recommendation - if he says youre ready, then youre ready! So pleased with this service and highly recommend it.

Micheal the instructor Aka instructor #4 was rude and very disrespectful to me he yelled and also was very argumentative he has a very nasty attitude . when I brought this to there attention nothing was done he has been rude to other individuals as well and continue being until today it’s sad when you have to record the disrespect and the company he’s employed by turn the other cheek how many cheeks are they going to turn before disicipline is applied I wouldn’t let a dog get trained by him

I signed up with the driving school for a couple of lessons due to the fact that I had previous experience already and wanted the opinion of a professional before I took my road test. The lady in the office (I believe her name Was Michelle), was very patient and nice. I was given Mike (Michael) as my instructor. Here’s where everything went downhill, he would give me wrong instructions, for example, we were on King Drive and he told me the speed limit was 15. If some may not know, King Drive is a busy, Main Street and the speed limit is actually 30MPH. He then told me to always stay two car lengths behind when you’re actually only suppose to stay far enough so you can see their tires. While going 15 MPH, I would be about 200ft from a stop sign and he would say “start slowing down”, then will get mad when the car is barely going, but what do you expect a car with very little speed to do that far from the stop sign? Instead of him correcting anything I would do wrong, he would either raise his voice or make “Mhmm” and grunting noises under his breath. My biggest pet peeve would be every time I would start to drive with one hand, he would get irritated and grab my arm forcely and put it back on the wheel. When I requested a new instructor, they gave me the run around and say no instructors would be able to help me. I would highly recommend people to just find a more suitable driving school. The cheapest way out isn’t always the best.

This is a very good driving school. With only little prior experience, i was ready to take the road exam after few hours of taking the class here. The timings are very flexible, i asked for a crash course to complete within a week since i got to leave Chicago soon. They clearly understood my request and made it possible with flexible timings that fits my schedule. Second thing the instructor Mr. Bo is a very good teacher, he always checks that i am doing it right, if i make a mistake, he recreates that situation again and again until i do it right. He also teaches little things that makes one a perfect driver. Moreover, the cost is also much cheaper compared to other places.

Horrible place to work! There was no structure, Manager Michelle DOES NOT TRAIN. It started off good but when i couldn’t work a Saturday Michelle got mad. My original days to work was Monday thru Friday.

Mike was a great instructor who had high expectations from me. He was strict which is why I kept pushing myself to do better and I ended up learning driving faster than I thought.

Well let me say this...this school do have reasonable prices and is very reasonable when scheduling lessons...but there instructor Micheal can some times get a bit intense and inpatient with you...he is a good instructor but he has to understand his students more....he tends to get frustrated when you don’t get what he’s teaching you on the first try...not taking away from his driving skills...just his teaching methods are kinda weird...he has to understand that some ppl are terrified when it come to driving...it’s gonna take some ppl more than once to get what he teaching...he can sometimes talk to much and confuse his students...but all around he’s a nice guy...I would recommend this school for refresher lessons NOT beginners

Typing this literally minutes after clearing my driving test, I have purchased 1 hr combo with road test, man I believe it’s worth every penny I paid. Most importantly I liked the instructor Mr.Bo he is calmn and great at correcting minor mistakes you make, which obviously helped in making me a better driver.Location of DMV we went - South Illinois DMVVechile used Honda Fit 2015Pro’s --Price per class is 35 bucks so you can asses yourself and take how many ever classes you want.-They have been very kind by accommodating me for a road test and an hour driving at a really short notice (I called them yesterday for doing a 1 hr practice driving and road test immediately after that)- pick up and drop is offered within 2/3 miles of their office radius so if you live far you can always request them to drop you or pick you up by halsted orange line.Cons--nothing that’ made me concern

Mr. Bo isnt patient like the other comments say he is. He didnt prepare me at all for the driving test, after multiple lessons all we practiced was how to drive straight which is in no way accurate to driving when you have your license. We didnt practice driving in reverse or even parking , how is someone going to drive but not know how to park!? They dont prepare you at all , they just care about your money. Mr. Bo would scream at me during lessons and give me attitude when I was only doing what he told me to do, he would also take personal phone calls, text, and take smoke breaks all during my lesson. I regret wasting my money on this place , they didnt prepare me for the driving test .
