Dr. Baker has been leading this wonderful program since we started years ago. She herself is an amazing music educator for our kids. We can’t thank her enough for all these years. She does not only connect with kids well on the learning of music, but most importantly, she is teaching kids life lessons through music. Thank you, Dr. Baker! Thank you DePaul Community Music Program!

The DePaul Community Music program has been a part of our family for over 15 years. My kids have taken piano, violin, saxophone and trumpet lessons with this program. They have participated in recitals, the youth orchestra program, chamber ensembles, group lessons, duets and even choir. It is a very organized program and we have been so fortunate to have been a part of this vibrant community! And, the brand new music school building is AMAZING!

My children have been a part of the Community Music school for the last 10 years. I have nothing but great things to say about the staff , the school and the program. My kids adore their various teachers and respect the arts program. I would highly recommend this program for anyone (adult or child) interested in learning a new instrument or to sing! We are blessed to be a part of this community.

DePaul CMD has been an integral part of our family for the past 16 years, for three children who studied there. We have also passionately recommended it to literally dozens of people for their children or for adult lessons and every single one has been thrilled. The program is incredibly thoughtfully put together and uses the best ideas in education for how to connect with each student. Its incredibly professional and the recitals and other unique programming such as group classes, duet partners, New Music Fest and the Chamber Ensembles add a true shared and community spirit for the students. The quality of the instruction is unsurpassed in Chicago and we have also appreciated their caring approach and focus on musicality and positive experience for the students. This has created lifelong practices and enjoyment for them and for us. Dr. Susanne Baker is the founder and director and is an amazing resource for anyone interested or already enrolled; shes also an incredible piano instructor if that is your instrument. We are also always impressed and inspired by the depth and breadth of their engagement throughout Chicago - bringing free music lessons to a large number of schools with under-resourced or non-existent music programs. CMD has made a huge impact on countless students and schools. We cant recommend it highly enough - is there a ten star option?:)

The program seamlessly pivoted to virtual lessons last spring and continues to deliver a top notch experience.

I was trying to get saxophone lessons with Keegan White. The director was a very nice woman, but this guy never even bothered to get back to me. Neither by phone or a simple email.Id give 1/2 star at most because they pick up the phone right away and are polite. You actually have to give points for this dealing with musicians. And to think, I AM TRYING to give you like 500.00!I called once last Thursday before Easter and spoke to the director. She didnt say he was on vacation or anything. Tried back the Tuesday after Easter. Its now Thursday AGAIN, and NOTHING. Meanwhile, theyre getting paid very well for lessons. If the professor doesnt want to do it (I know some good pro-level players that hate teaching absolute newbies on that instrument), then pass info onto one of the college kids, my God. Theyd be thrilled to get paid more than they get working for Starbucks and it doesnt look SO BAD for this program! Really annoyed about the whole thing. Btw, I have well over 30,000 views on my reviews, so...I cant see how the rudeness was worth it for the program or DePaul as a whole. Negative reviews are like death to any business.
