City Elementary has been an extraordinary gift to my son and our family. Since our son began attending City, he has been thriving. City not only attends to his academic needs, but also to his social, emotional and sensory needs as well. My son is challenged academically but in a place where he feels secure. The Social Thinking curriculum and Zones of Regulation have helped him to make and maintain friendships and be more in control of his emotions. The hands-on learning is a great way for him to excel. The teachers passion to find challenges that are uniquely right for him and help him to be successful are nothing short of incredible. City is a true gem.

City Elementary has been a life changer for our family. Our son did well with basic academics at his old school, but struggled to maintain his emotional and sensory regulation with all the unpredictability of a 24-student General Ed classroom. His basic survival strategy was to check out and retreat to a bean bag to read. With City’s small classes, specially trained teachers and paraprofessionals, and broad understanding of kids with learning differences, our son has blossomed. His natural curiosity has returned, and he is for the first time fully engaged in academic subjects beyond reading. He loves social studies, science, math, and art—and especially the debate class and social thinking and empathy building activities that are part of City’s curriculum.
