The school needs to work on their food. And I think it’s nasty that they dig in the trash.

Negative experience. Obsolete, gloomy facility, cranky non professional staff, below average 6th grade teacher. Moved my child to a different school and he’s thriving. I regret even giving it a chance!

If your kid is already doing good in school, theyll probably be alright. It is a clean and safe facility with a courteous and professional staff. But if your child has special needs, or you really really really value primary education you should probably research your options. Hillfield primarily serves residents of Hill AFB, plus the small neighborhood between base and I-15. (airline drive triangle). The state and district are both underfunded and overstretched. Its actually a pretty decent school compared to the other county public schools in the area, but the primary issue is that Utah public schools are really crappy. School ran from 0845 to 1530 M-Th, and let out at 1330 on fridays. The kids had no dedicated art, music, or fine arts programs. No tutoring or special needs programs that I could find, no special education program from all appearances, and all the classes seemed incredibly overcrowded. I grew up poor in western Kentucky, but my schools back home are better funded than Davis county schools. last year (14-15) My childs class started at 34 students and swelled to 37. The teacher had a volunteer parent, but no other assistance. My daughter was struggling with reading and writing, but she was lost in the herd and the schools attitude basically boiled down to Shes not failing her grade, so its not a big deal. The school told us that if we re-enrolled her for this year, theyd monitor her for 90 days, and if she was still struggling then they would intervene and attempt to get her some help, but it might take 30-45 days for the request for help to process. We decided to enroll our daughter in an off base public charter school instead, it doesnt charge tuition, but it is inconvenient having to run back and forth off base every day.
