I love this school. In my experience the parents that are involved also love it. Many of the parents that can’t be involved as much as they want because of work also love it. I wish the limited handful that complain could see the good in this school. I have seen nothing, but deeply committed faculty, staff, and administration. No school is perfect, but this one is pretty darn good.

I really like this school. I have loved the teachers they work really hard to make each day so much fun. Every teacher at this school my children has had has gone the extra mile for my kids. They have so many programs that they can get involved with. The principle is always seen in the hall interacting with the kids. He is very approachable and whenever I see him has many kids trying to talk to him. I am so glad my kids attend this school.

My daughter has been at this school since Kindergarten. I was given the run around when I first enrolled her into school. I was told that I had to bring some extra paperwork to prove that I am a resident of the city. When I brought all that was asked I still was given push back and was asked to present more to prove once again I live in this city and I am who I am. During my daughters Kindergarten year she had a pretty rough time with one kid. I talked to the school, parents of the kid, and teacher and nothing was done at all about it. Then comes the 1st grade year. Not only did my daughter end up in the same class as that bully in her kindergarten class she ended up being physically assaulted by the same kid from the year before. I was never called or emailed about my child being hurt by another kid. No one at the school said much about what happen and they have no clue just that my kid had a scratch on her face from another kid because she was following him around the play ground. When I asked why her mother or father was not notified they said Both the kids talked it out so we are going to leave it alone for now. Here it is now my daughter is in 2nd grade and is being accused of stealing from another kid in class. What is weird is that her teacher admitted that there are about 5-6 kids involved and dont know how to fix it. I get nothing in writing for anything that happens or events coming up and the call out for early out that is not normally Fridays come out the morning of. No staff in the morning until about 830 am outside with the kids that have to get there early. I am really disappointed with this school and I hope a kid does not get badly hurt for anyone to do anything about it.

Becoming a Horrible Experience. Went to enroll my daughter for Kindergarten and at that time the bus schedule was hard for the office people to figure out. Started the school year out wrong when my daughters bus did not even show up. I have watched several times as the bus passes the apartments by and goes directly to the houses. Yet there are children standing out there. Then do not even get me start on early out days. This happens every Friday, I have to completely change my whole schedule around. Then any other day they have early out days, I am never notified. I cannot tell you how many times I have taken my daughter to school only to find out there is only 40mins left and really no point in checking her in.Today my daughter is home again, as the bus did not make her stop again.I got a letter this past weekend about my daughters many absences and they told me that I needed to call them to set up a plan on how to correct this. As of today, Ive had it. Kindergarten is NOT required and I am thinking about pulling her from this school altogether. I decided to write this review and I will be writing the district about this. My daughter is not the only one. I see a lot of other children in the same boat. They do not care, but they want their money!

My daughter has been attending this school since third grade. She is currently in six grade. While the teachers have been okay (third grade teacher was amazing), the office staff is horrible. They treat my daughter like a pariah, they wont let her call me when she needs to, and they have actively lied directly to my face on two occasions (that Im aware of!). The principle is great, but Im not sure how the office gets away with treating the kids the way they do. There is no end to how terrible their anti-bullying policies are. They are all talk, absolutely no punishment unless the victim defends themselves. Then the victim gets the punishment and the bullies get ignored. Public schools seem to be at a severe disadvantage when it comes to students with learning differences. They want all kids to fit into a specific learning box. They discourage using experimentation or different types of learning styles to the point where the teacher (5th grade) will actually mark a math problem wrong if the method of getting to the CORRECT answer is not the one shes teaching! If you mean leadership as the office choosing their favorite students and ignoring the rest of them, then yes, leadership is awesome here. But in the real world where leadership should be setting good examples and including everyone, leadership is pretty much a terrible thing here. This school has an anti-bullying campaign and talks about bullying a lot, but that is the true extent of it. When bullying is actually happening, they turn away from it and pretend it isnt there. And should the kid getting picked on fight back, that poor kid is the one who gets in trouble! They constantly blame the victims, ignore the troublemakers, and pretend that their school is some kind of bully-free zone. My daughters third grade teacher was amazing. She really knew how to handle the students and how to get them engaged and excited to learn. That being said, shes a young woman whos teaching methods arent adopted by other third grade teachers, and so far shes the only teacher that my daughter has actually liked. Fourth and fifth grade teachers were nice enough, but they didnt do anything to help my daughter stay engaged in learning. Shes a really bright girl and she learns faster than the average kid. Third grade teacher got that and gave my daughter the stimuli she needed to stay focused. Other teachers have expected her to stay on the same pace with the rest of the class, which only results in her shutting down and moving on mentally. Homework at this school is a real joke. They will send home a packet at the beginning of the week and its due at the end of the week. The packet consists of topics learned throughout the previous week. This wouldnt be so bad if the packet was enough to actually require brainpower, but it doesnt. My daughter usually spends about five minutes twice a week on the homework. Theres no recording of reading minutes in fifth grade, but rather a semi-required suggestion of 30 minutes per night. If you call feeling like you cant talk to those in charge because you will get into trouble (words from my son) the type of character traits you want in a confident child than I would say no. My daughter was assaulted by another student, and received punishment with the bully because even though she did not lay a hand on this other child she was in her personal space and that make it okay to be punched. Victim shaming at its best. This school has a box that every child should fit in, if your child doesnt fit in this box than your child is out of luck for quality education. I thought I would have to worry about my childrens friends being bullies, unfortunately I have to worry about the staff being the bigger bullies. The woman in the lunch room constantly picks on both of my kids. When given homework there is way too much, with instructions that do not make since. My daughters teachers were horrible at communicating, and sometimes seemed like a more of bullies.

I have a daughter that attends south Clearfield Since the beginning of this school year, the staff has lost, misplaced, or otherwise left my daughter abandoned. The first time was about 1 month ago when the school staff lost her for about 25 minutes. The schools Principal responded, she wasnt lost, we knew she somewhere at school. And then, he smuggly apologized. And twice her teacher has put her the wrong bus which in turn left her standing outside alone in the dark, no food, no water, holding her pee. The schools prinicipal simply said sorry.

The above review is obviously from a parent that was told their child wasnt as smart as they thought, and has raised their little girl to think all men are perverts and looking at them all the time. Now beyond that...SCES is a great school. My daughter has gone here since 1st Grade (now in 3rd) and I love the teachers. She has had a fantastic experience here, and the principal is great. He will listen to any concerns that you have, and the After School Program staff are great as well. They provide individualized attention, and are fantastic. If youre thinking about moving to the area, the school is enough of a reason to go ahead and move here. Many of the military families on base choose to send their children here, or move off of base, to avoid Hill Field Elementary and have their children at SCES. Great school!
