I have been an educator in Maryland since 2005 and specifically working in early childhood since 2007. Drool of Rock is a great example of what play-based learning should look like! My son attended for two years, and he gained so much confidence and social skills. The staff at Drool treats the children like family; every child who walks through their doors knows that they are loved for who they are! As the mom of biracial children, I absolutely love that there seems to be an intentional diversity in staff hiring. It is also wonderful that my son sees young men working in child care because that is an anomaly in most child care settings! There is a wonderful core of teachers like Ms. Dani, Ms. Amy, Ms. Hailee, Mr. Lucas, Ms. Candace, Ms. Cassey, Mr. Clearance, Ms. Jenn (owner) and many more!We live in the city and would drive 30 minutes out of our way just so our son could attend preschool at Drool.Drool of Rock is a place where kids can be kids and learn who they are while learning through play that is purposefully planned. I highly recommend sending your child to Drool of Rock!! 🎸 🎡

We have been sending our daughter here since she was 3 months old And now she is almost 12 months old and it has been an overall great experience. The teachers have been caring, friendly, and willing to work with us on some of our requests, such as using cloth diapers. They have been very informative, especially our current teacher who constantly provides us updates on our child’s achievements or developments through out the day. We truly do feel a connection with the teacher when we get to know them better and feel very comfortable knowing that our child is in great hands. They offer a lot of enrichment activities and The reason we sent her there was for the focus on music. During these CoVID-19 times, the staff has been diligently following procedures and guidelines set to ensure the safety of all the students/staff/parents and have been precautious/high alert with any suspected cases. We have felt relatively safe sending our daughter there. My only suggestion to them would be to move towards a digital app for daily updates for feeding/ changes, notes and pictures versus the paper copies that we received daily for ease of use and communication. Other than that, the staff has been amazing to our baby girl and she is all smiles when she shows up there and loves outside water time in their secluded outdoor patio area.

Our daughter has been at Drool of Rock since she was 3 months old, she is now 13 months! While she only goes to daycare 3x per week, I have to say that the staff at Drool take such amazing care of her. So much so, she wakes up and says β€œschool” every single day. They have a huge part in her mental and physical growth and I am confident enough to say that she wouldn’t be excelling like she does without them!We love Drool so much, and how they care for their students really shows when our daughter comes home happy every single day!

My daughter (now 18 months) has been enrolled at Drool of Rock for several months now. We’ve had a great experience since day one. My daughter runs into the building each morning. The staff are so genuine. I can tell they truly enjoy Having the kids around. The weekly themes are fun and engaging for all ages. My daughter has learned so much in her short time at this center. The communication is also really good. The facility is clean and fun! I highly recommend this daycare.

Both my son and daughter have been at DOR for several years now and we could not be happier with their program. They incorporate music, dance, art and are active throughout the day. My son was well prepared to enter kindergarten and is actually headed back for the school age program right now. The teachers, director and owner are professional, responsive, and extremely caring!

I loved Drool when I first moved to the area and placed my son in the infant 2 room. The teachers were responsive, respectful, it was clean, and my son was happy. As a matter of fact, I even pulled my daughter from her school and enrolled her into the 5’s program so my kids would be at the same school. Things went downhill from there. The turnover started, the cliques were very apparent, the gossip I heard as the desk was constant, and I didn’t know any of the CHILDREN that were supposed to be TEACHING my son. I noticed a difference in him immediately. The consistency was completely gone, the call-outs were daily, and the runaround explanations about all my concerns from upper management and the owner was an absolute joke! I would not recommend placing your child there! It’s too stressful and too much of a headache!

Our 15 week old has now been at Drool for 2 weeks and she and we love it. Her lead teacher Mrs. Mah is amazing as are all the other teachers. They have stuck with our feeding schedule and are great with communication. We get pictures of our baby girl throughout the day which made for a smooth transition. Our LO has already completed 2 art projects, they do tummy time daily, and go outside often!!! Everyone is so friendly and seems so happy to work there! We recommend drool to friends looking for daycare!

If I could give Drool of Rock 10 stars I would. This is our third daycare for our older son and I FINALLY feel like we have hit the jackpot. Both of my boys are thriving there. Every single teacher has a smile on their face when I see them and genuinely loves each and every one of the kids there. For me, the fact that neither of my boys cries or fusses when I drop them off in the morning and their smiles when I pick them up speaks volumes. It shows how comfortable and happy they are there. Previous day cares have left me with a pit in my stomach when I dropped my boys off. I have NEVER felt that way with Drool. It is so important that our babies are learning but it is also so important that they play and are loved - the teachers at all Drool provide all of this and more.

I am one of the staff here at drool of rock. I have been here for several months and absolutely love it here! We have an amazing healthy, friendly, staff who are clean and sober. My favorite thing about working here is how pleasant everyone who works here is and extremely kid and baby friendly. We are over-staffed not under-staffed which is great! I had a medical issue and my boss gave me all the time i needed to heal before I returned to work. The owner Jenn is very legit and is a sober, intelligent, fun woman who absolutely loves the children and everyone here. I have never had such a wonderful boss. We do not send children home unless the have a fever, diarea, vomiting, or something contagious that could get the other kids sick. I love working at drool of rock and it is a wonderful environment for the children and the staff. I personally treat all of my babies with love and respect and love them like they are my own kids. I had to write to let you all know the truth that i have seen here at drool of rock. 😘

The facility is beautiful, the curriculum is amazing and the teachers are kind and caring (and super fun!). Now we look forward to daycare, my son because he has a great time with all his friends and me because I know my little guy is in great hands. Love! Love! Love!!!

My son went to Drool for 3 years. Fantastic experience. My child developed a strong self-confidence, brought his personality out even more and allowed him to learn and develop with diverse classmates Now, that child is a second grader and his Math teacher called him the leader in his class because he is not afraid to speak his mind, share his work and help others. P.S., the plays are extremely memorable and Jen and her staff/family are sweet, lovable and trustworthy people, not to mention flat-out cool.

My overall experience was not good. I don’t think they have experience with infants. My infant never felt comfortable. The owner will constantly call to let me know. She also implied that my infant may have developmental/social delays and to reach out to a free government program??? My infant sleeps, laughs, and eats at the new daycare facility. My infant never truly slept, laughed or ate at Drool of Rock for months??? The owner thinks it’s developmental/social issues, but I think it is a lack of experience. I don’t recommend this place.

Love love love it here!My husband and I have 4 small children- 8 year old, 3 yr old, 2 yr old, and an almost 1 yr old... so 2 out of 4 of them attend Drool of Rock. We LOVE it here! I cant say enough about the school and the teachers. The teachers are so amazing and SO loving. They genuinely care and love the kids. The owner, Jenn Remmel, also amazing. She is so great with the kids and very attentive. Any time I have come to her about anything, its handled immediately. This place is, by far, the best childcare/preschool that my children, or I, have ever experienced. My 3 year old and my 2 year old love it here. When they first started, the first month (give or take) was a hard adjustment for each of them, since they stayed at home (with mommy) for the first 2 years of their lives. But the teachers and the owner did everything they could to help them get through it and now (even on weekends) they ask to go to school 😊 There is no better feeling than knowing that your children are happy when theyre not with you! Drool of Rock does this for us! Thanks Jenn for all that you do! You guys are AWESOME! ❀

My child was here for about a year and a half and it was the worse decision we have ever made.First, the place looks like a rundown warehouse converted into a daycare. The play area feels like a prison yard with four concrete walls and no roof. The roof looks like it was ripped off so only scaffolding can be seen. The place often smells and more than once we have seen pest control entering or leaving the building.Second, their security is a joke. Most schools have a two door system where you have to buzz in. This place has one door that looks like the it had been busted open once or twice. Its so weak that if you pulled on it hard enough you could get the door open easily. My child was able to run outside on one occasion as someone was entering because they only have one door. He ran out into the street and the teacher had to grab him.Third, my child was often coming home having been bit or hit by other children. He then learned to start biting and hitting back. When i spoke to the teachers as to what the heck is going on they told us they are not equipped to deal with this type of behavior. The director often looked as if she was going to have a nervous breakdown. This place is not safe for children and for the price there are far better options.Lastly, communication at this place is the worst I have ever seen. They dont email parents because they apparently dont know how to run a mailing list. They dont have an app like most daycares do so you dont get updates on your child throughout the day nor do they send pics to let you know they are doing well. We often brought our child to the daycare not knowing that they closed down that day because they only post updates on their facebook page. They have a website but they often have issues with it. Not everyone has Facebook nor is it an effective way to communicate with parents. My child used to go to this daycare every day crying and begging me not to leave him there. The teachers often neglected him when he was upset rather than comforting him and by the time we took him out he was so upset he wouldnt even get in the car to go anywhere. He is now at a far better daycare and within two weeks he no longer hits, cries or has any behavioral issues. He loves his new daycare and the price is the same. The facility looks so much cleaner and so far has proven to me a much better environment. I would not recommend bringing your child to this place.

We LOVE Drool of Rock! Our son had an in-home nanny for his first 3 years and we were very worried about how he would adjust to preschool. The staff and children were so incredibly welcoming which helped him transition beautifully. It is a fun, engaging learning environment with caring and competent teachers. Our son loves the music and art focus and it is artfully decorated to support the theme - not dark at all - in fact extremely bright and colorful. As a former early childhood educator who has seen many, many daycare centers and preschools - I do believe this is a top notch preschool environment and would recommend it.

Since Google wont let me delete my review, Ill just edit it to say we fell out of love. Communication issues and lack of care/attention by teacher aids is one primary reason why we left. Lots and lots of turnover and lack of transparency with frequent changes with assigning directors is another reason why we left. I constantly felt like I was leaving my son at an after school care program instead of a quality daycare due to the age/maturity of the people watching him throughout the day. Drool has a ton of potential, it just didnt pan out for us.

The staff is personable, knowledgeable, energetic (which you need with preschoolers) loving, nurturing, and awesome! My daughter is growing there like I never knew she would. Learning new things and making new friends everyday. Which is what preschool is all about! She literally runs through the doors each day to greet her teachers and friends! We landed at Drool of Rock a bit by mistake. We had a nanny fall through on us at the last minute and began a search for infant care. We looked at several places and when we walked in the doors of Drool, I knew right away this is where I wanted my baby. From the vibrant atmosphere to the room available to nurse/pump, this school FAR exceeded the other places we saw. We are so pleased with so many aspects - the school is diverse both in staff and children, the entire building is clean and bright, there is a grassy space for the babies to lay in the sunshine when the weather warms up...the list goes on. Infant programs are hard to find and leaving your baby can be really stressful. I have been so grateful to have our baby someplace that embodies so much love. I would recommend Drool of Rock 100%!

The teachers are AMAZING and take such good care of our little girl. We get updates through text, pictures, and videos. I am constantly in touch with her teachers who are professional and understanding of a new moms worries. They encourage the contact! The facility is beautiful, kids are always having a good time, and most importantly I know my little girl is safe and cared for. The staff is competent, caring and attentive. The classrooms are clean and fun. There is a sense of joy and happiness that radiates within the walls – both because of the fantastic musical theme throughout the building and the diverse community of both adults and children. The building is secure, including a fun outside area to play when the weather is nice. Steven Wilson must have been confused and reviewed his McDonalds experience instead of the Drool of Rock. There is not a more colorful, musical environment available for young children in this area. Having taught preschool for 30 years, and performed for young children for all of those years Ive seen many, many child care centers, schools, camps and venues. None of them provide the daily musical experience, let alone professional musicians, at the level D.O.R does. There is, more importantly, an outstanding, caring staff with plenty of experience. The enclosed (walled) outdoor play area, which provides some cover on rainy days, is extremely safe. I love this place!

Google won’t let me delete my review, so I am editing it. We really wanted Drool of Rock to be a great fit for our family, and everything that was promised during our 5 months there was a let down. Constant communication issues, staff turnover, and even worse, our kid just hated going here day after day. I only felt compelled to say something after meeting with many other families over the last 2 years since we left whose experiences were far too similar to ours. I really try to support small businesses and lift them up wherever possible and my goal is not to leave negative reviews. However, I have serious concerns about the quality of care being given here and I do not feel that my former review is an accurate depiction of our overall experience. Unfortunately, unless there is a major overhaul in their educational and management practices, I doubt things will improve. I wish them nothing but the best, but as a parent I can’t in good conscience recommend their program in the state that it currently exists.

Drool of Rock has been nothing short of wonderful to our daughter since her enrollment almost a year ago. The owner (Jenn Remmel) and the teachers have remained continually patient and understanding in every aspect of parent communication, our daughters care, and the activities/additional performances they take the time to put together for their families. When our daughter was hospitalized, Jenn and the DOR family sent her personalized gifts and cards out of the goodness of their hearts and have remained ever watchful of her care and needs since. The owner and staff has never displayed any level of disrespect and were even willing to go above and beyond financially when our daughter was hospitalized. These are all qualities you will NEVER find in any other daycare or school. You cannot judge the building from the outside because once inside of DORs doors, there is a spacious and musically creative atmosphere unlike any other. There is a sense of honor and pride that Jenn Remmel holds her staff to and is truly the creator of a fantastic environment for young children.

My child attended DOR for 4 months and the owner accommodated our schedule. The concept is great and the teachers are cool with one particular teacher being the most awesome teacher EVER! I appreciated her loving on my child when he needed it most, although it was known that her loving on him so much was frowned upon. Ultimately, we decided to take our child out of DOR because of poor/passive aggressive communication from the owner. Via text messages, she informed me that my child wasnt bonding with other students. Via text messages, she also requested that I encourage my child to warm up to one of his teachers because he was super attached to the other teacher who recently started. My response to her was no because my child is smart and will go to who he is comfortable with. I should mention that this is the teacher that my son saw grab a student aggressively, and I walked in just in time to not only see the incident occur, but also to see my sons reaction; he was very frighten and it broke my heart. I waited a day or two to bring it to Jens attention because I wanted to give the teacher the benefit of the doubt; she had been really frustrated with one particular child and I could see the stress on her face. I decided to say something because I was the voice for my child and his sad face haunted me. However, for Jen to ask me to encourage my child to go to this teacher was a weird to me. If anything, the teacher should be the one going out of her way for my son to warm up to her, considering what happened in the past. Also, its normal for a child to not care for someone and to really like another as long as hes not being disrespectful. It was never mentioned to me that he acted rude or even mean to her. I dont force my kid to go to people, give people hugs, etc. I made sure he thanked them everyday before he left.I didnt know where all of this was coming from, so I requested to meet with both teachers to understand what was going. I communicated regularly with the teachers and I was taken back by the information Jen was passing along on their behalf.I mentioned to Jen that none of these concerns in her text messages regarding my childs behavior/wellbeing were addressed during the quarterly parent-teacher conference. Jen went as far as telling me that meeting both teachers were not necessary and that she could relay the message.Of course, I continued to request a meeting with both teachers and stressed that I would be willing to come in the morning or evening to accommodate their schedules. I spoke to both teachers afterwards and thanked them for what they do for my child and also to make sure that they were comfortable communicating with me, especially when I ask how my childs day went when I pick him up. They both stated that they were comfortable communicating with me and that I shouldnt be concerned about that. They said that he was bored and would benefit from being challenged, so moving up in a few months would be best. The last straw was when Jen texted me saying that there is a spot opening up and that my son would benefit from moving up to the next level because hes regressing and that she wanted me to think about it. Wait what?! My child is 2, what exactly is he doing that is considered regressing? Is he crawling around on the floor? Maybe the choice of words could have been different and definitely not communicated through a text. Through it all, in my opinion, her text messages were passive aggressive, but passive aggressive people rely on saying thats not what they meant when you call them out (as I did once and she called me bitter), so I decided to let it go because my son was still attending the school and I didnt want to put him or his teachers in an awkward position. We decided to take our child and money elsewhere because we werent comfortable with Jens communication style, especially when it has to do with the wellbeing of our little nugget.Adding an emoji to a text doesnt change anything. :)

This environment has been one of the best things that has happened to our daughter. She has been there for 7 months. The enviroment is bursting with learning and fun. The teachers are the best. The culture they create is nothing but kindness. I dont understand the previous comment/review at all. It does have a McDonalds near it (no impact to the care or experience our daughter has) but the inside is so much fun and bright. The cleanliness is extremly detailed. I would give it 10 stars if I could. There are many other long term parents that are very hapy as well. Our daughter has special needs so she has Infants and Toddlers visit her for quite a few visits each month. The instructors with Infants and Toddlers (who see many environments) consistantly tell me how impressed they are with the facility and teachers. Each one of them has told me how excellent the staff is and what they can see what the staff does and have done for our daughter is truly a gift. The I&T also make comments to me like how could you not have fun in this place, etc... Before we came to Drool of Rock, we came for a tour and that was very helpful as well.
