Great BJJ gym! I have not taken any other programs they offer, but the jiu-jitsu is a very good experience, all the beginner classes in the day or evening have great instructors. You don’t need anything your first time few times, just show up a little early and ask to start your free week trial. Just remember, no shoes on the mat, shoes on off the mat.

No other place I rather train. With more and more contact sports gyms opening in the area its important to have a clear idea on what kind of training you are looking for.The environment is competition focus with room for the enthusiasts but beware of other gyms where the teachers/trainers are overweight and not competitive individuals. No matter the discipline you will find encouraging, challenging and yet very fun classes.

PROS:High quality training! (All of the coaches are very experienced in their respective craft and are great at taking their time with beginners)Welcoming staff and class culture.Big facility, unlike most of the cramped fight gyms nearby.CONS:Mysterious pricing structure. (You take your free week then have a 1 on 1 with the manager to determine the price of your package. What?)Hours that cater to college kids. (A lot of gyms that target working adults will have classes on weekends and early AM open gym hours. Instead, Its a race to make it to my 6pm classes on weekday nights. I would rather do open gyms when it is convenient throughout the week, and do classes on the weekend.)

Let me start by saying, this review comes from an actual boxer. Not just someone who works out, etc. If i could give it 0 stars, I would. But thats not an option. After having trained there for 2-3 months with minimal issues, suddenly, 1 by 1, problems started to pop up. First it was I couldnt use my speed rope in the boxing ring because it was annoying, then it came I wasnt allowed to wear my boxing boots on the mats because itll make them dirty. Keep in mind, EVERYWHERE AND EVERYTHING has mats under it/them. The bags, where the weights are, everywhere. So I bought a new pair of boxing boots solely to wear at ronin only. THEN I was told I couldnt wear my boxing boots in the mats period. Essentially, the only place I could work out, was behind the front desk. And due to length restrictions I only mentioned the biggest problems (as there we a plethora of others). But, I will be honest. If youre looking to take up or practice BJJ. Ronin will be great if not fantastic for you. However if youre a boxer... dont even waste your breath or energy, time or money. And be aware of their one month caveman cancelation policy, as it was pretty convenient timing when they essentially told me I cant train there anymore, but still had to pay 2 additional months worth. Ive never left a review this negative, because Ive never been mistreated, disrespected, or had such a terrible and thoroughly unprofessional experience at ANY business , let alone a gym. (Like being told I cant do cardio because its annoying). All of it left me totally blown away, (and not in a good way). Like I said, if I could give it 0 stars, I would. So unless youre a BJJ fanatic, please learn from my mistakes, and stay away. Way away.

I had to edit my review after reading some of the 1-4 star reviews. Please ignore the haters. The only bad thing you could really say about Ronin Training Center is that the parking does get packed in the evenings, but what does that tell you about how great it is? The instructors prioritize on making a safe, constructive environment. I wake up looking forward to going to THIS gym multiple times a day. They give you a 7 day free trial for goodness sake. The price is great for what you get. You’ll feel like a better person every time you walk out of those doors guaranteed!!

Been a part of the MMA program for a bit now and have fought all my MMA fights from this gym. This is by far the best gym to be at. The coaching is second to none from beginner classes to advanced. This place has everything you need. You have the ability to train with and learn from the top professional athletes Ohio has to offer. Ive had nothing but a positive experience at Ronin.

Ive been training at Ronin for a few months now and Im absolutely addicted to it. Im studying BJJ and Muay Thai, and I occasionally get a workout in there. Ive also started my older son in kids BJJ. I wanted to wait a few months before I reviewed. Below are a few high points of my experience at Ronin in no particular rank order.1. Family atmosphere. Everyone there is welcoming and warm. Ive been utterly shocked at how helpful and friendly everyone is, from the staff and trainers, to my fellow students. Its a tough thing to walk into a legit fight gym for the first time. Its also extremely humbling. My experience at Ronin so far in just a few short months has already positively impacted my mental health and the way I approach life. Its quite unbelievable.2. World class instruction. BJJ is where I spend the most time. How truly lucky is Columbus, OH to have Vitor Oliveira, a world champion Jiu Jitsu competitor, teaching here? Vitor is a machine on the mats in competition and has dedicated his life to Jiu Jitsu. But hes also a fantastic coach. However, the culture he has instilled is what stands out to me the most. A fish out of water if what it feels like the first class you attend, but every single student of his has been welcoming to me, non-judgemental and extremely helpful. Everyone is truly interested in each others progression. Laurah Hallock, who manages the gym, is the only female black belt in Columbus, and she is also a fantastic instructor. For women considering BJJ, they have a womens only class once per week and the other classes are coed. BJJ is the ultimate equalizer to strength, so women considering self defense should consider it first and foremost before anything else. For Muay Thai, Aaron Boggs class has the same feel. Aaron has a knack for instruction and hes also serious about his students progress. He made me feel comfortable within 10 seconds of my first class. Id love to have more time for Muay Thai. The same culture is prevalent in his class.3. Kids BJJ. Ive started my older son in kids BJJ and the instruction and class format for the little ones is perfect. If you want your kids to learn discipline, patience, impulse control and be able to truly defend themselves in this crazy world, look no further than Jiu Jitsu. They sort the class by age group, so the little ones dont get mixed in with the bigger kids. Sarah, Des, Sal and others do a great job keeping it fun with games and drills that develop important skills and knowledge at the same time.Theyre putting in showers right now which is a bonus. They also have a weight training area, a boxing ring and an MMA ring. Boxing classes, Judo, Yoga, Kids Wrestling and a Ronin Fit class are also taught at Ronin. If you have any doubt about where the best train, visit Ronin and see for yourself.

The best gym in central Ohio. Period. They have many types of classes available for Adults and Children with world class coaches. Everybody is very friendly and they are committed to help you reach your goals be it fitness, learning a new martial art or become the best fighter you can be. Anybody interested should try it, they have a free week to explore the different classes and facility.

ALL coaches and trainers are supportive and encouraging regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. I’ve been here for 3 years, and have seen this gym welcome and support people from all walks of life and help them grow as athletes. Management has always been great to work with and very professional. I found a second home here!!

Right.I have emailed this place 3 time and been ignored all 3 times.I have been to the club twice...and got totally ignored both times. The last time, I stood beside the mat for an hour and a half ... nothing. The person *in charge* looked me in my face, at least a half a dozen and, at one point, was walking in my general direction, made eye contact, and changed directions immediately.Being a life long martial artist who has ran clubs in 3 different countriesand trained with people from all over the world, I find this place to be a piss poor exampleof a martial arts club.It is the instructors DUTY to greet every stranger who walks in the door, even if it is just to makea brief introduction and a welcome. When you dont, you let a potential student walk out the door....and money.Bragging to a kid about *we only have world class instructors* is arrogance.World class only speaks for your accomplishments, personally.Your students speak for YOU.This place was highly recommended by a good friend.I do not, and will not, share his sentiment to anyone. And, neither will he.

I dont have any experince with this school but as 12 year practitioner of jiu jitsu the only thing i can say is a red flag os they do not allow no gi or open mat to everyone...you have to have 3 strips..this is a away to continue to take your money in hopes you stay long enough to buy that last strip or blue belt... Amd better assurance that the school has a win under there name there is a white belt division in all ibjjf tournaments..and its called open mat for a reason..the classes will benifits you if you put time in but if you roll challange your abilities and stay humble you can become much more..gracie ohio allows everyone to compeat roll do open mat and sit in with advanced classes, the potential there is great

This gym is incredible. I say that because it’s huge, it’s clean, it’s nice and it has tons of varying programs, From judo to BJJ, Mui Thai, boxing, wrestling, you name it they’ve got it here. This is probably the biggest MMA gym in Ohio and in surrounding states. The instructors are world class and by that I mean ranked in the top in the world. With that, they are still humble, courteous, polite and professional. I have five kids that have been going here for several years and I cannot think of any better role models in the entire country better than here at Ronan. Dr. K. J. Carder.

I attended this gym for a short few months, and cant leave long term viewpoints, but while I was there I was very pleased with the gym and classes. The instructors in Judo, Ji Jitsu and Muay Thai were all very welcoming and friendly, and very helpful in furthering my beginner skills. They have a good selection of weights (few machines) to lift with, and plenty of conditioning tools. Among the gyms that I looked at across a few cities I have lived in, Ronin offers an extremely good deal considering all the classes you get access to as well as the workout equipment. The lack of contract was also a plus as they dont need to rope you into commitments, they know customers will stick around.

I was enrolled in the adult striking and bjj classes. The facility is well maintained, although I did not shower or use the lockers down stairs, the matts and equipment were also in decent shape. The instructors I worked with were very knowledgeable and I learned a lot. I would recommend this gym for the training. However, when working with their membership staff, they did not communicate clearly. I had recently moved and asked to cancel my membership several months ago. I was under the impression my account was closed and that there would be no more monthly charges. Months later, they then exlapaiend that it was just frozen and resumed charging me membership fees. When I called for a better understanding and to request a refund, they refused to refund my money. It has been over 4 months since I have been there and they were unwilling to resolve the issue. Its unfortunate that a place I enjoyed training at would treat a customer this way. I felt I was scammed and deceived. I expect this behavior from a large chain corporation such as Title Boxing or LA Fitness, but not from Ronin. Dissapointed.

I have been bringing my son here since August 2016. The instructors are very attentive with the kids and 1-1 instruction is applied when needed. The manager, Laurah, has been doing an outstanding job in getting this facility in tip top shape and making improvements as needed. All of the staff at Ronin are service oriented, friendly and outgoing. My son is learning a skill that will last a life time and he enjoys going everyday. I can probably say the same for the other kids in his class; everyone attends consistently. Ronin is highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn Brazilian jiu jitsu from Vitor Olivarez.
