I had the worst experience with the gallery. I made the glasses because I had an exam in 5 weeks, I had to wait for one week to book the place. they told me the glass will be ready in 2 weeks and after more than three weeks waiting, they told me I have to wait another week to pick it up even after I told them how important for me to have my glasses in the exam day. They said they make no exceptions and they are fully booked.I have to go to my exam without glasses because of them.I am very disappointed and will not purchase any glasses from there again.

Ohio State Optometry lacks professionalism, preparation, and I recommend that if your insurance accepts other providers, go there as opposed to OSU.I returned a message left by OSU. Hamdi answered, insinuating I was someone else—which was a little surprising given that I had already stated that I am a patient. She then transferred me to Maggie who works as a staff member around reception and scheduling. OSU distributed contacts that were dry and irritated my eyes. When I attempted to purchase a new brand online, Maggie (an office staff member who is neither an optometrist nor a pharmacist) informed me that she would not be fulfilling my prescription because I needed to be “fitted” for the contacts. Rather than suggesting a trial pair for me to pick up, she said I must schedule another appointment. Having met my single appointment my insurance provides in January (she was aware of this). It was an obvious ploy for money, as I would have to pay out of pocket for that. I’ve used other optometrists in the Columbus area. None have ever insisted on an appointment when contacts did not work. The lack of patient care, information, and professionalism is shocking given that it’s affiliated with OSU.

I have been going OSU’s optometry services and the eyewear gallery for well over 5 years. The staff is extremely thorough when checking vision and I have always felt they truly cared about me as a patient. I have purchased over 5 pairs of glasses/prescription sunglasses during this time without much of a complaint. The eyewear gallery staff were always helpful and supportive until recently. I have purchased eyeglasses in early March 2021 and never received a call to update me on the status. About 5 weeks of waiting, I finally called and left a voicemail. However I did not receive a call back. To be honest, whenever I left a voicemail message no one ever called back. When I finally talked to someone they said they would call back with an update and never received a call back. Realizing no one would call back, I tried calling every other week. When I actually talked to someone, I was given different reasons why my glasses were delayed. The reasons included; the glasses didn’t pass quality checks, the lab damaged the frames and new frames had to be imported, your glasses will be ready in a couple of days, just waiting for your glasses to be shipped, etc. I called today (late May 2021) and the glasses have finally arrived. Again no one called me as I have been doing all of the calling. So it’s taken nearly 80 days (almost 3 months!) for me to receive these glasses. Unfortunately, I have to wait until next week to pick them up as there aren’t any available appointments to pick them up. I do realize that due to Covid19 protocols that service may be limited however communication was extremely poor. This frustrating experience has lead me to take my business elsewhere. Got to have better communication/customer service.

Firstly, I would like to note that I have not visited this establishment as of yet-that being said I did have a rather disappointing conversation after calling to inquire about the emergency services offered. I assumed naturally that due to it being an emergency situation they would accept the billing in payments as I do not have insurance atm, but they do not. I was instead referred to an emergency room- why bother listing emergency services in the first place? If a patient were to come in with a fork stuck in their eye would you ask for their wallet first?

We took our son here for vision therapy because our ophthalmologist was recommending surgery. We wanted to try strengthening his eye muscles before having surgery done because the surgery has a 70% success rate and can sometimes be avoided. Their prices were very reasonable compared to other places we checked into for vision therapy. Our sons intermittent exotropia is now well controlled after the vision therapy. Our highly recommended pediatric ophthalmologist reluctantly acknowledged the progress and our son no longer needs surgery, if he ever did. My warning to parents - Dont let a doctor rush you into surgery with a 70% success rate when some basic eye exercises can strengthen your childs eye muscles to the point that their intermittent exotropia is controlled.

Terrible place. This was just supposed to be a simple yearly follow up visit for my contacts and glasses, but they ended up turning it into a 3 appointment endeavor. They kept having me try out a pair of contacts with eye drops and follow up the next time for no reason. They said that I had an eye condition called GPC and that they wanted to try out new contacts, despite the fact that my original pair never bothered me. The new contacts were incredibly thin and easily fell out. I went back for a third visit and was told I need to come back for a fourth visit. They didnt care that I lose work time, or the fact that OSU is 30min away. I eventually said forget it and Im going with a new optometrist. They really dont care for you. They just change a bunch of stuff around without considering your comfort or needs. Also, the doctor doesnt even see you. One of the students (person without the degree) is the one performing the evaluation despite the fact that I am paying for an actual doctor. Doctors at Costco or Wal-Mart are probably better. Oh, and parking is terrible. They dont cover the full price of the garage.

I have been going to OSU optometry clinic for over twenty years. I have had excellent care. Yes, it takes a little longer when a student AND an instructor do exams, but it is worth it to let the future optometrists learn from the experience and learn a lot myself by adding my own questions to the mix. Everyone is always very patient and careful. I wear contact lenses which have always been well fit and my vision is typically better than 20/20 with them. I have also bought glasses that have lasted very well and provided excellent vision, too. I go once a year and look forward to my visits.

The staff are very friendly and helpful during the process of selecting frames and purchasing. However, my 36 day experience in actually obtaining the glasses I purchased was something of a nightmare. At the time of purchase (May 30), I was told it would take about 14 days for the glasses to be ready. A little longer than other places Ive been, but thats fine. I call to check on the status of the order after 13 days (June 12), and Im told they should be ready in the next day or so. Four days later (June 16), I call again, and am told the glasses didnt pass inspection, so they would likely be ready around the middle of the following week. I call again a week later (June 23), and am told that they are still not ready. Again, I get the line that they should be ready by the next business day, which was Monday. Now Im screwed out of having these glasses for the two weeks of travel I was going on starting that Monday. Fast forward to July 5, and I finally get an email saying the glasses are ready to be picked up.It took 36 days to make a pair of glasses. That is simply unacceptable. Not only that, I had to make all of the effort in actually finding out what was going on. Not once did they call me to notify me that there were going to be any delays. And clearly when you call them and check on the status, they pull a number out of a hat to tell you how long you have. Two things need to change. First, get a better manufacturer. All sorts of places can deliver glasses in 7-10 days without issues. Second, be proactive and call your customers when issues come up. I shouldnt have to go investigate why Im not being notified that my glasses are ready when you know that there was an issue in making them.I realize my experience is likely an outlier, but things like this should never happen.

My experience at the College of Optometry was excellent in every way. The third year student conducted all aspects of the exam well, explained the procedures and the results, and answered well my questions. The first year student attentively observed and assisted on a few things. Near the end of the examination Dr.Tina Pawlikowski, the supervising Doctor went over the exam results with the students and me. She conducted some the exams. She gave a marvelous and understandable explanation of conditions in my eyes, showed changes over the past two visits with the pictures and graphs, and answered exceptionally well all of my many questions. Then she approved a new prescription, convinced me that I had no need for concerns, and that I should come back in 6 months for follow up, especially for pressure checks. Dr. Pawlikowski is a stellar clinician, faculty member, teacher and care giver.Later that day, I got fine service in the gallery and had new glasses ordered.Five stars to all in the College of Optometry.

An individual who seemed to be a manager or lead person, was snooty and condescending toward me. He made me feel unwelcome.Like his time, was more important than mine.I think that because I am on Medicaid, he thought I didnt deserve his respect. I am 61 and have a masters degree from OSU, but he treated me like I was some kind of schmo. All the other staff members were very courteous towards me and helpful.I wasnt sure if I misinterpreted his behavior towards me, so on another visit to the glasses gallery, I brought a friend to observe this persons behavior. My friend sat quietly, pretending to look at the frames, watching this personsinteractions with me and concluded this manager should find another line of work, because of his horrible customer care skills. This person, certainly an adult, acted like a obnoxious teenager, rolling his eyes, ignoring my questions, chit-chatted with another staff person about his anticipation about how soon he could leave for the day. This is totally unacceptable behavior from an adult, who implied he was a senior staff member. He made sure my glasses fit properly, however I felt like I was imposing on him. Id ask a question and he sat silently, until I had to inquire whether he heard me. It was some kind of power trip he was on to make me feel unworthy of his attention. We sat less than a foot from each other, across the fitting table, and he made me feel so uncomfortable.I did not utilize my Medicaid discount because the frames offered were not of my liking. I had NO waiting! Everyone is very helpful and accommodating!! Dr Nixion makes you feel like you are the most important patient he is seeing that day!! I have used OSU Optometry for many years and have never had a student service me that isn’t thorough, kind, and helpful with any of my concerns or questions! I highly recommend OSU for many reasons.

Ive got an excellent experience. first time being eyes-evaluation in USA. The doctors were very nice and I was very satisfied about their professionality.
