Both Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B are amazing. They provide a well structured, disciplined and yet fun environment for all of their students to learn in. They not only teach their students the Korean Martial Art of Tae Kwon Do, but also the value of believing in oneself. Our daughter absolutely loves it there.

Master Blanchette and Mrs B are amazing with children. I have watched as my nephews who have different learning styles really grow confident in their skills and respect for others. The owners are truly excited when their children accomplish their goals. I have had the pleasure of watching a class or two in progress and if I didn’t live in a different state, I would have my children go here! Im proud to say that Ive known Master and Mrs. Blanchette for over a decade and if anything is clear it is that their character, integrity, and honesty are beyond reproach. I could not imagine any school with better leadership. They are profoundly devoted to their students needs and development. It truly shows by the community atmosphere that they have built that will give any child an opportunity to grow their skills and their character.

We looked at different martial arts schools in the area for our child. We chose CCTKD and we are so happy we did. They are kind and really great with our child. He loves going and has made great friends. We have also formed great relationships with the other parents. We feel like one big family!

Unlike so many of the negative comments attacking this business, I am actually a paying customer. I brought my granddaughter here to learn how to defend herself. I expected they would train her to fight. What I got was so much more. My granddaughter is taught respect for others, manners and consideration for those who need more help, and how to be polite to all. I’m so glad I found this school. Our son is hyper active and has had a very difficult time in school, He was constantly acting out and getting into trouble. He has been going to capital city and it has made an amazing difference in him! The teachers have even sent letters home and wanted to know what we did! Capital City Tae Kwon Do is a gem! I started going there because it was close to home and stayed because Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B are amazing. Cctkd is a great Martial arts program in the concord area. We have been bringing our kids collectively for 9 years now and not only have we loved allowing our kids to be in great hands but to see all that the kids gain from being apart of such a wonderful group. I have been attending class at Capital City Tae Kwon Do for over the past 3 years. I go there twice a week and am always looking forward to going to class. The idea that either of them could be hostile or intimidating to a parent and their child is truly laughable. Looking at the words of these negative reviews, I actually question if this is the same place I have been bringing my daughter for a little over a year now! I honestly love what CCTKD has done for my little girl, and what they have taught her is irreplaceable. Inner confidence, a will to learn something that takes time and hard work, and I love that it reinforces what I have taught her of respect toward others. We were loyal customers for atleast 6 years, things change when you inform them you will not be signing a new contract. Shortly after informing them, there was an incident in the office. Mr. B acted very unprofessional and needed to be reminded that he worked for me, not the other way around. A simple matter escalated into a very tense yelling match over nothing. Mr B needs to act in a professional manner, Im not the student and i certainly will not be berated by the Blanchettes. Beware of that contract!

My son started learning and growing under the leadership of Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B. at the age of 13. By the time he was 18, he able to earn a Second Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. I remember walking into their impressive dojang for the first time at eight years old; I was small, shy, and intimidated by the idea of learning martial arts. My younger sister was six at the time and was even smaller than me. I didnt have much confidence that I would be successful. However, through the attentive, warm, and encouraging instruction of Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. Blanchette, I grew to love and appreciate TKD not only for the physical training, but for the emotional and intellectual growth that they fostered with my sister and I. This nurturing is something that they work on with all of their students. Through their teachings, I have learned to be a confident, capable, and disciplined leader--not only within their dojang as a black belt assistant instructor, but in my high school and university life holding positions of leadership in multiple student organizations.My ten years at CCTKD have been well-spent. I highly recommend this studio for anyone who is looking for dedicated instructors who invest not only in your martial arts training, but in you as a person. I would strongly encourage families to stay away from this establishment. my child attended CCTKD for 3 years about 9 years ago. When we were approached about the black belt club, I was a little hesitant. I knew we would be moving at some point and did not know how that would play into the contract they ask families to sign. I was assured if we moved out of the district the contract would be voided. Fast forward 8 months. Me and my family inform Master B and Mrs. B we were moving to Manchester. Everything seemed fine. About 2 months after the move I recieved a letter stating I broke our contract and if I paid them $2000.00 no further action would be take . I immediately brought this letter to an Attorney who responded on my behalf. My Attorney explained to them what they were trying to do was illegal, it was extortion. Thankfully I never recieved another letter again. They come across as your friend, almost like family vut the second you leave this is the treatment you will receive.

We have been going to CCTKD since 2006. Master Richard Blanchette and Master Mrs. B run an awesome dojang. They are caring and compassionate instructors. They teach their students that Tae Kwon Do is more than kicking and punching, but a way of thinking and living. I completely trust and respect the Blanchetts and the business they run. My son started the capital city taekwondo after school program a little over 2 years ago. He was in first grade struggling in school due to delays from being born prematureHe was struggling making friends and he was hitting an age that he could see he was different from his classmates, what was easy for them was overwhelming for mason. He would say he felt dumb . He was then diagnosed with adhd and i was told he was struggling being in a classroom setting and his confidence hit an all time low. In my search to find a healthy, positive outlet for all that energy and something to help build his self esteem I found master and Master Mrs B. They showed him the power of perseverance and his confidence grew everyday they helped show ways to center himself, focus, and to never give up. Master and Mrs B and patient, and kind. They treat my son, and my entire family with respect. Today my son is flourishing in school, he is now a social butterfly, and has confidence that he can achive anything he puts his mind to. I am so thankful to master and Master B.

My son was struggling academically and with his peers for awile and he was only in first grade. He wasnt doing his work and couldnt focus on anything. I did NOT want to go the medications route because he simply needed an outlet for all his energy. He started going to Capital City Tae Kwon Do every day after school. It was difficult at first as he did not want to be there. That changed in a couple weeks. He started feeling confident and more respectful to others. He grew in mind & body and improved tremendously in school. Master Blanchette & Master Mrs B were truly an inspiration to my son and all of the kids/families in the school. I cant thank them enough for helping my son become the respectful, kind, strong young man he is today. He is now a senior at Concord High and received his 3rd degree black belt and certificate. I would encourage all parents to enroll there kids at CCTKD , it will be one of the greatest things you could do for them for many reasons.I would also like to take this opportunity to say that the person who Insists on posting negative comments about CCTKD and its mastets should be ashamed and should not be bad mouthing them because of bad circumstances that THEY may have brought to the table. Masters Blanchette over the last 10 years have shown no favoritism and have always done the right thing. So please get the facts before you decide NOT to bring your kids. Dont assume that what is said is the truth, see the results for yourself.

Prior to moving away for job reasons seven years ago, my son had attended CCTKD for eight years (beginning at 5 years old) and belonged to the after school program. If there is one couple that had a major positive influence on him during those years (like family) and truly helped form who he is today (at 18), it is Master Blanchette and Mrs. B. If he was to continue TKD, he would only go back if he moved back to the Concord area. CCTKD is exemplary in their teaching and nurturing of their students. We have tried other studios since weve moved away and there was no comparison. Its very difficult to top the best. CCTKD is one of the best investments youll ever make in your child. My son is proof of that.I dont know who is writing all the negative reviews but they may have the wrong place or they certainly dont know the Blanchettes very well...

Our son has always had impressive manners and discipline... but add the structure and guidance of this program and he has become one of the most outstanding young men I know. I have known Master Blanchette and Mrs B for many years. They are exceptional roll models. Master Blanchette and Mrs. B maintain a positive dojo. The facultie is bright, super clean and inviting.Each time I see them I am greeted with a smile, and kindness. I have the utmost respect for them, as they do for me.I have experienced first hand the patience they have and willingness to teach respect, self control, discipline as well as many other important life lessons.My own grandson attended class there. He had been diagnosed with may behavioral issues. Master Blanchette and Mrs. B were just what the doctor ordered. The improvement in this child was remarkable.These two people have dedicated their lives to working with children. Giving these kids the tools to over come many challenges that life will bring. They are taught that if you want success in life it will not be given to you and it is not owed to you, you have to earn it with honesty, integrity and hard work.I highly recommend this facility as they do wonderful work with the children.

**if you look at the the reviews of this establishment, please pay close attention to the newly established bad reviews in one month after 15 years in business. People are cowardly and vindictive. If you want a true opinion of the business for yourself, speak to them directly or take a class. That is the only true way to decide for yourself. That is what I did and I am so happy with my decision. My 2 children have been going here since we moved from Massachusetts approximately 4 years ago. Being new in the area and having kids that have already been in Taekwondo for 5 years, I did a Google search for a new local school. After reading reviews, I decided to give CCTKD a call. I spoke to the owner, Master Blanchette and explained the situation my kids were in. After a very good conversation with him, I learned that they would be able to start where they left off at their previously contracted school. We took them for an introductory class and we immediately knew this was the place to continue their training. We then signed our contracts, and have been going ever since. We are now into our second contract. We now have 1 black belt student and the other one will be testing for their black belt by July! I cant say anything bad about these two masters! They truly care and have the best intentions for all of their students! Thank you for letting us join your great family!

The Blanchettes are very knowledgeable In TKD and are very very good with all their students . My son who has ADHD and Sensory processing disorder has flourished in their TKD program. So much so that his teachers at school sent me emails telling me how wonderful he was doing in school after he started their a few years ago . His teachers asked what had changed in his life, I said nothing just TKD . I never would’ve thought TKD would make such a change in such a short time in my son’s behavior but it did and I believe it did because Of the care and guidance of his TKD instructors , Richard and Brenda . This place is not only amazing but its my village and it truly takes a village to mold strong, courteous, respectful children in todays day and age. Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B hold all of the children and adults accountable for their behavior and actions and teach the most important lessons of the day and you can see that in the middle and high school black belts that help teach alongside the Masters on any given day. My 10 year old son just told me the other day, that he is so thankful that I found CCTKD and signed him up for classes three years ago. I have no doubt in my mind that Capital City Tae Kwon Do is where my son learns his important life lessons, those lessons far more important to his life than being able to read, write and compute. We even drive 20 minutes each way at least twice a week (sometimes all five, my son enjoy it so much) and the drive is definitely worth the love, tears and sweat that goes into CCTKD from the teachings of Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B.June 2019 Id like to edit my review to discuss Mrs. Witts negative review and her reasoning. I am a paying customer. I, along with every other parent who has a child who has reached the advance class at Capital City Tae Kwon Do, was given the choice of signing what is called a Black Belt contract. This contract is voluntary but does allow certain privileges such as a special Black Belt Class on Friday nights and a discount on your tuition. Again, this is 100% optional. Parents mainly make this commitment for the discount. My husband and I also found it a wonderful opportunity to teach our son about contracts. Contracts are binding. When you sign a contract you are in it for the long haul. This particular contract gives three reasons that you may ask to terminate your contract early. 1) You move a considerable distance, 2) The establishment moves more than a certain distance or 3) the person receiving services has a medical issue that prohibits them from practicing for more than three months. When I signed this contract we discussed this with our son and we were fully aware that if he changed his mind we would still pay monthly until our contract was up. We absolutely would pay monthly and although wed be disappointed we would do the right thing by paying what we agreed to pay. The Blanchettes have ONE business. They rely on that business to provide all of the income they use to support themselves. This is why they request contracts to be signed, but again, you do not have to sign a contract, you can pay month to month and get the same services minus a discount and one single extra class a week. We do not condone teaching children that contracts do not matter and if we did not plan to follow through on a contract then we would not sign one. As for the owners being hostile. I too invite you to come meet them! They are the most caring couple you will meet. They wear their hearts on their sleeves and during this ordeal you can certainly see their hearts.

Ticking time bomb! The problem with this school is that to keep training will at some point require a contract. The first contract they offer (around green belt) is optional, but the distinction and praise lauded upon contract students make saying no to your child almost cruel. Training for a black belt past your first degree will *require* a contract for 2 1/2, 3 1/2, then 4 1/2 years; if you do not want to sign a contract you will have to find another school (and potentially have to start all over again). If you try to break the contract, they sue you. (This is what I faced as well as others at this school.)If you search the Internet for Martial Arts Contracts you will see the negatives of these contracts , even if for only 1 full year; imagine how this gets exponentially worse with a 3+ year contract!I recommend you find another martial arts program in the area (there are many) which do not require contracts.

Capital City Tae Kwon Do and their owners, Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B are incredible. They are not only amazing teachers to Tae Kwon Do, but also to life lessons. They are role models to not just me, but to everyone who attends this school. I have been attending their classes for 10 years and my experience with them have been like none other. Now, I not only take classes, but also assist teaching others that are striving to obtain their black belts too. I am currently one of the few 2nd degree Black belts at this outstanding school, and am now striving for my 3rd degree. What makes this school so special though is that its not just a school where you learn the oldest and greatest martial art in the world, but its also a huge family. Ive made a lot of good friends attending this school, and hope to just keep making more. I have not only learned to kick and punch, but also to be respectful to others, work your hardest, and to never give up. As the mom of a now junior black belt and green belt, Capital City Tae Kwon Do is truly one-of-a-kind! Not only are their facilities well-maintained and ready for a great TKD class, but the attention and devotion that Master Blanchette and Master Mrs. B give to their students is top notch. From their After School Program to their regular daily classes, CCTKD has it all: class, tenacity, and a warm, family environment.Yes, there is a contract once you get to a certain point--but this is actually in the best interest of the STUDENT as well as the school. There is no point spending thousands of dollars to get your child half way to their next degree--it would be like paying for two years of college and then never graduating, rendering your investment basically worthless. Having an enforceable commitment mechanism is important for BOTH sides, and because of this it even comes with a 10% discount.What are we teaching our kids if were telling them its ok to quit before they finish something? For the record, I am a third-degree black belt myself, and I am so thankful that my parents pushed me to continue my training. When a student reaches the rank of Green belt with Blue stripe they have the opportunity to sign up for something known as the Black Belt Club. The benefits of this include: 10% discount on ALL tuition, Uniform AND testing fees. It ALSO grants the student access to as many classes per week as they desire! In my personal experience with the Black Belt Club, I learned the importance of dedication when it comes to signing a contract. It is something in life that has to be abided by and respected. Simple things such as this I have learned at Capital City Tae Kwon Do where I can take into my life as learning lessons.In October of 2014, I became the top ranking student at 3rd Dan black belt, certified through the World Tae Kwon Do Headquarters in Seoul, Korea. As of September 2015 I will be celebrating my accomplishment of 10 years of training at Capital City Tae Kwon Do. If it was not for the hard work and dedication provided by Master Richard Blanchette and Master Brenda Blanchette I would not be the successful Psychology and Human Service student I am today. I currently have three children, two biological and one stepchild, that attend Capital City Tae Kwon Do. In addition, we also have many friends whose children also attend, and we all of have nothing but positive things to say about CCTKD and the way the school is run and how the students and parents are treated while there.The owners are extremely professional and expect each student, as well as parents, to behave in a respectful manner. There are certain rules that students must follow as part of their training, and none of those rules are harmful to the students in any way. In fact, the rules are designed to help students be the best versions of themselves, and to carry themselves in a respectful way. I love that our children are taught lessons that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. I love that they are encouraged to help out in their communities and to make a difference in others’ lives. I love that they are encouraged to spread their wings and try new things.I also love that when we walk through the doors, we are treated like family. I do not worry about our children’s wellbeing when they walk through the doors. The owners take pride in each student’s accomplishments and work hand-in-hand with them. They encourage the students to do the best they can, but also provide structure that children need in order to thrive.In addition, CCTKD is a great option for parents with children who have ADHD. My son was diagnosed years ago, and at times it has been challenging to get him to focus. Since becoming a student at CCTKD, his grades have improved, he’s more helpful around the house, and he’s able to focus better than ever before…all without the use of medication. I strongly advise any parent with a child like mine to check out their establishment. You can even try out a class to see how your child will respond in that atmosphere, which is great.Finally, I want to address the issue of contracts. Currently, my stepson is a second degree black belt at CCTKD. He was under contract for his first degree, and now is under a new three-year contract, as well. Before any contract was signed, we had a discussion with my stepson about what a contract means because we feel he’s at an age now to fully comprehend what the ramifications are if we break said contract. He understands that we are paying a monthly fee for three years, even if he’s not there. It does require dedication from not only the student, but the parents, as well.When you sign, you are agreeing to follow any rules and stipulations listed. If you dont agree with what is said, you shouldnt sign it. If you do sign it, that means you must abide by said contract. And if said contract states you must pay a monthly fee for the next three years, then you have to. If that’s not a commitment that you or your child want to stick with, then I wouldn’t recommend signing.I have signed many different types of contracts over the years, and all come with their own set of rules. As a freelance writer and blogger, I know that when I sign on the dotted line, I’m agreeing to whatever the company I’m working with has set forth for rules. And I know that if I don’t follow through, there will be ramifications, one of which could mean I don’t get paid. So, whenever I sign anything, I make sure to read what I’m signing so I understand it fully, so there aren’t any surprises down the line. That is why my husband made sure to review the old and new contracts thoroughly before committing my stepson or us to anything.And if there is any confusion about the contract, the owners are more than willing to discuss it with you.I can say that based on our experience with CCTKD, it’s a worthwhile commitment that will provide your child with many years of wonderful memories and lessons they will treasure forever.
