Great facility overall! I want to specifically mention about their Kids zone. My 3 years old does not like to be around strangers. But, last night first time he loved playing with three staff members at Kids Zone. With their permission, I am writing their names: Jessica Ferry, Josephine Lamere, Eva Pycraft. These girls are awesome. They are so friendly and caring with kids. When I dropped my son, he was crying really loud, but these girls told me that dont worry. They will take care of him and will call me if necessary. I came back after an hour and I was surprised as my son was so happy and was playing. I really appreciate their help!!!

Why back to masks? Have you not read the scientific data on masks? They don’t stop transmission of covid! Maybe N95 if worn properly. Insanity in a place to exorcise and breathe! And you want kids to lose oxygen to their brains. What protocol are you following except politics?

Use to love going there. Unfortunately the new layout is awful. All the machines are on one side now so everyone is breathing each others air. It’s ridiculously tight. Kind looks like a science project. Nothing like working out face to face with a stranger. If your tall enough (like my husband) you might be able to touch knees with someone. And then there is the Covid concern with everyone just trying not to touch each other. Terrible for the immune compromised. Anyone who has a hard time going to the gym because they are self conscious or uncomfortable will not appreciate this at all. It’s very discouraging. Now the other side where the free weights are there was so much room a cheerleading squad to do a performance with tumbling included and not run into anyone or anything. I hope this is temporary. But if it isn’t my family and I have already been looking into other gyms.

I love this ymca but a red headed young lady informed us on Friday that we couldn’t swim underwater for longer than 5 seconds… I’ve been coming to the ymca doing just that for awhile now. When did this “rule” apply and when is there a risk of a semi decent stable 28 year old that can drown in a pool surrounded by lifeguards?

I had Good things to say about this Y till I called to cancel and was paid up 2 mo and not due till June. I told them I had left the state back to Nevada and they told me there is a 30 day notice needed... I asked even though I haven’t gone in weeks? I also wasn’t given 30 days notice to move back to Vegas for work so how could I provide them with that? I also wasn’t asking for a refund I simply asked to apply it to my mother’s account. He advised me no! You would think during these hard times they would accommodate... I wasn’t wanting the money back! Just to apply to another account! No money lost! Smh!

My review is solely based on how they are as a company after having an interview with them for a membership role at their facility. This place is a joke! I had an interview with them 3 weeks ago from yesterday and didnt even have the decency to contact me until just now, saying that the position had been filled!! That is unbelievably ridiculous and unprofessional! I wont even go there to work out now, let alone apply for any other positions they may have available. Dont even waste your time if you need or want a job here.

We just recently joined and have been so impressed by the cleanliness and safety. When we have gone everyone (at least everyone I noticed) has been wearing masks in the common areas and masks were only removed during active workout or while completely socially distanced. I saw constant cleaning done by the staff. On our first day there the lifeguards were extra kind and patient with us as we learned the rules. They even opened the slide for 20 minutes so we could try it out on our first visit.

Addendum: The Director reached out to me regarding my concerns and made an effort to address miscommunication among the staff. The facility is beautiful, offers many diverse opportunities for fitness and they are taking great strides to keep the facility clean (especially in regards to the pandemic). The facility is clean and inclined to impress with the large new building and diverse options for exercise equipment, classes, daycare and such, though I have been left wanting in regards to my experience as a member. While most employees I have engaged with have been pleasant and helpful, I have also experienced rude treatment over the phone on multiple occasions. The open pool times are very convoluted and I find that my skin becomes very dry and itchy after using the pool even when I wash immediately afterwards.I originally sought out a membership with the Y so that I could familiarize my 4y.o son with water safety and swimming in something deeper than a plastic kiddy pool. While my son has enjoyed the family pool, I have become increasingly more frustrated by the *rules* that prohibit my bringing or using equipment other than what is provided in facility and how this equipment has age requirements outside of swimming classes— otherwise mandating a paid service that I feel fully capable of providing for my son.In sum, I signed up as a member for less than a week before canceling my monthly renewal. I should not be continuously frustrated while paying for this service! Also, as a warning for prospective new members: monthly renewals occur on the 1st or 15th of the month (you choose which when you sign up) and are required to cancel your memberships 30days before the date you chose for your next monthly renewals.

I have no problem with the gym outside of people who dont use their mask and think they are cool. COVID-19 is Real! I think we must have a personal responsibility; wear a mask, and have mutual respect for each other and their personal space. The staff should try to politely enforce this. The front desk staff is always nice and friendly.

I have been a member since my kids were babies taking swim lessons. I LOVE the child care workers!! They are so kind and patient with those kiddos. I thank them every single time I drop of my son. They deserve an award working with all those kiddos! Only concern is that need a separate baby section and maybe a preschool section. Those preschoolers are running around (being kids) near SO many infants. There was only 1 or 2 times that I had to wait for kids to leave before they could take mine.. only 7-10 mins, but still my barre class ( that I had to rush and signup for online because they max out fast) had already started. I love it there! It’s clean, everyone wears mask , people are friendly! I love the seating area to order food or just to relax. Only suggestion is separate kid area for babie and preschoolers, add more classes that fill up super fast (ex- barre) and remove all those cycle classes that don’t fill up. Maybe add some afternoon stretch and strengthening classes.

I would like to start by saying that I’ve been a member of the YMCA for four years now and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. It is a world class facility with friendly staff and great programs. My rating is based on the mask policy that is being used by them. It is lackadaisical and vague enough that no one must ever be asked to wear a mask in this facility. If we’re being honest, their mask policy pretty much reads as such: “Everyone must wear a mask to enter the building.” After that it is completely left up to the discretion of the member. I have been at peak hours and seen the numbers of people huddled around workout machines without masks. In light of current events it just does not make sense. I think this policy is profit driven and wholly ignores public health. I would not encourage my mother or anyone who might be at high risk to work out here due to this.

Ive been coming here since they opened back up with my son & godson who both plays travel AAU basketball for the #4 team in the country. I always take them upstairs to work out on the artificial football turf using resistance bands & doing pushups, nothing major simple exercises. Yesterday I get told I have to leave from upstairs with them after I have been coming up there for the longest with them working out. We dont even go to the weight room part, only the green turf part and we wasnt bothering anybody. It also left a sour taste in the mouth of other members who witnessed it & they where very displeased with what they saw. Im considering canceling my membership. No other YMCA that I go to treats me like this and they encourage kids to stay active. Very disappointed in this YMCA in crown point

I absolutely love the facility and all it has to offer. From the outdoor pool to the wide variety of classes, this location has a resort feel to it.Now on the other hand, my daughter is an AWAY visitor while home on vacation and lets just say, she was not welcomed with the same warm vibe on her second visit. The lady was rude, would not make eye contact, and told her she was doing her a favor to allow her to visit the facility before 3pm. My daughter does not live in NWI and she never asked. The Y has online that this is not their policy for persons over a 50 mile radius and it makes one wonder just what happened here .......... might I add, my daughter is celebrating PRIDE month!???? Makes me wonder why just this one person made a difference and no others did.

I had similar experiences as others with the child watch. Too many little ones and not enough eyes. I have left my young son in the care while I used the work out space however it had yet to be a pleasant experience. Each time at drop off he cry’s and they workers literally just take him inside the door. Place him down and walk away. Leaving him to scream and cry with no type of comfort. Every time I have picked him up he has had a very full diaper. Full to the breaking point of feces and urine. We provide diapers and if they don’t want to change him please call so I can. We have expressed our concerns to staff and have yet seen a change. I have also had many instances where the family bathroom floors were covered with dirty, grimy water and my family had to wait to change until a clean bathroom opened up. Very disappointed.

This is such a beautiful facility so I can understand why they have 30,000 members (this was told to me by one of the Southlake YMCA staff members). But that is the problem.... way too many members. All of the youth classes are immediately full with long long waitlists. There are too many aggressive-acting people in the open gyms and pools. Id suggest not taking children under the age of 10ish there... its just too rowdy and too crowded.-- update posted 1-29-2020. Ive found a solution to getting into the very-coveted childrens classes (gymnastics, dance, Ninja, etc.)... this Y has sign-ups for the classes that they announce first to the members. So become a member first. Then, when they announce that sign ups for classes for, say, January through May are to begin on Nov. 1st, get ready for this. Do your homework and find out what classes you want your kiddos in before sign-up day hits. Then, at 12:01 a.m. (Im serious), you better be sitting behind a computer and have multiple tabs open to sign up for each class. Because when the sign-ups start, these classes fill up in what feels like, 10 minutes!Members will sign up for classes for 5 months out at that one sign-up day. Because you only have to pay for the first month right then. I dont agree with this policy because people can squat and fill up a class even if they dont really want to use it. But thats how the classes are booked. So theres the secret recipe to getting into the Y classes. Once youre in, its glorious. This place is the hottest place to be right now. Its a beautiful structure and (if you can get in), classes are the most affordable around.

My son attended summer camp here and absolutely hated it, and quite frankly I did too. Completely overcrowded and quite chaotic. Seems like this place just allowed anyone in that paid. The amount of kids in that place feels like a fire hazard. Most of the counselors are just young teens with poor reasoning skills themselves. I honestly felt sad and like a bad parent for subjecting my son to several weeks of being there.
