The first two visits were for a trim and subsequently to freshen up my short-to-long layers.Backstory: I am relaxed and have been for over 30years. I also care for my own hair (occasionally going to the salon for special events, detailed cuts, etc.) so I know my way around my hair.I dont remember the name of the young lady (senior student) that trimmed my hair on my initial visit (sorry bout that). I asked her to assess the condition of my hair (regarding the chemical damage) in her expert opinion, and she answered honestly: My hair was damaged in areas, but correctable (which I knew). She did a great job. I returned a few weeks later hoping the same young lady would be there to touch up my layers but she was not. No problem, although I prefer the same person perform surgery on my hair no matter how minor. Another senior student (Sandra) was assigned to me. She too did an awesome job. She told me to come back when I was ready for my relaxer and she could apply it. I returned about a week later (with my own products) and she did a wonderful job. She was accommodating, attentive and polite and I was pleased with my final results.COSTS:Relaxer: $32 (includes roller set and dry)- My Cost: $28 ( I did not roller set nor dry) I dried and styled at home.The school has products they use, however you can bring your own products if you choose (NOTE: it doesnt save you any money)Cut: $6 (only SENIOR students are allowed to cut hair.)My advice: ALWAYS ASK FOR A SENIOR STUDENT and bring your favorite products. if you have themBE SURE TO TIP YOUR STYLIST. 8-)

I wouldnt recommend this place to my friends, only because a lady by the name of cindy is rude does not want to put any effort into getting my hair done the way i ask, i asked for a light base color and she says we dont bleach the whole hair .i told her i would pay extra to have my hair bleached or lightend up a bit and she said no i asked why and she said because we just dont do that. Very unprofessional and rude, by far she has been the most rude peson i have ever delt with.and to top it off i called before i came she said they had plenty of time to do a light base color , i got there 25 min later and she say they cant do it because it cant be finished in 1 hr, well i dont have to leave in 1 hr, i have all day. Its just her students that leave in 1hr. She should have been more specific on the phone so i wouldnt have waisted my time. Please dont waist your time going to that rundown place,her attitude about the whole deal just made things worst☹

I wouldnt even give this place a one star my mother came here on aug 14 2017 to get her hair cut and colored to say the least she was dissatisfied with the outcome and she feels emabarassed of her hair my mother took time to do some research on how exactly she wanted her hair to make sure she wasnt indecisive she took a pic of the cut she wanted and the color when we first got to this place we walked in we werent greeted even thought there are several stylist sitting in plain view of the door not doing anything but sitting on their phones we walked through to the desk to let the lady know what my mom wanted when we showed them the picture of a bob cut and and Greyishh color lol they started speaking in Spanish about how much and who could if they could do it not knowing my mom and myself could understand and speak Spanish keep in mind my mother is YES a white lady but is very fluent in Spanish and i myself am half Mexican and half white and when we responded in Spanish they kept talking as if they didnt hear us so I left my mom there as I knew she would be there a while so I came back to find my moms forehead and back of her neck burnt from the bleach and I was there when she told them to becareful cause her skin was sensitive .... well they didnt and when I saw my mother her hair was blonde like children of the corn blonde and she didnt even have the bob cut she wanted all they did was cut it to her shoulder and that was that so I would not recommend nor would my mom recommend anyone go there and the lady running the place was rude and kept switching out my moms stylist who was doing her hair there was only one person there who treated my mom with respect and tried to do what she asked before the lady running the place switched her stylist again and that was a girl named Anna thank you Anna for trying I truly appreciate you and another thing when my mother overheard them speaking she the lady who was running the place was speaking to the front desk girl talking about my mother while she was still there I saying I have no idea why she wants her hair blonde anyways first off thats not what she wanted and she told you that several times and second your job was to convey to your stylist what or how to do it not talk about the client in front of their face I feel so bad for my mom I told her she would have asked for a refund but she didnt and they didnt even blow dry her hair sham of a place
