My nine year old son was studying at another music studio but we felt it was time to seek a teacher who would be able to help our son to the next level of Drumming. Lane teaching style is intuitive to exactly what our son needs for both fun and Precision drumming. Our son has quickly advanced to a new level of drumming with the added benefit of learning how to read music. Lane’s side-by-side teaching style has been the key for our sons lessons. I started taking lessons from Lane about 6 months ago. Hes every bit as likable and professional as his blurb here makes him out to be. He takes the time to get to know me in terms of exactly what I want to learn, and even while teaching the fundamentals, he still has me working towards that goal. He also will go over my current goals with me, and help me set new ones and set me up to succeed in them. Obviously its up to me to practice and move towards them, but hes always very positive and energetic during lessons.He utilizes Google Drive and has video lessons, pdfs of exercises, and lessons, and some other stuff there. He also has student folders for each student and encourages you to keep track of your progress. Hell comment on the practice logs. All of this makes me feel like he really cares about my progress, and is happy with my excitement in learning. I *want* to practice and learn more. He also helped me when I wanted to buy a kit, which was great since I had no idea what I was looking for.I would recommend Lane in a heartbeat to anybody who wants to learn drums. You could not ask for a better instructor or person.

Lane is not only a fantastic, classically-trained percussionist, but hes also a wonderful teacher. When we asked Lane to teach our eight year-old son drumming, I was a little suspect at how anyone could get a boy that age to focus on something like music lessons, but it has become apparent that Lane possesses a unique quality in the art of teaching. Starting a new musical instrument in my late forties took some courage, but I was able to pick up the phone, call Lane, and talk about the possibility of lessons. I have taken lessons from a few different teachers and really like Lanes laid back and just have fun with it approach. Right away he just talked to me and got a feel of my style and what type of music I like and that made it easy as to where he would steer the ship. I also really liked how every lesson was something different and not just more of the standard lessons. Also, the location he is at is not your typical 4x6 room in a music store by any means. There are 2 nice kits so he can play with you and he has you wearing headphones so he can communicate with you via microphone which I thought was great. He also emails you what you went over and what to practice. I would highly recommend Lane to anyone wanting to improve in a great and relaxed set up.

Lane has been teaching my son and my daughter, I am amazed at how fast they are learning because of his ability to teach, the fact that he has two sets of drums and plays along with them is huge! He has taught them to read the music and teaches the terminology. Absolutely fantastic!

Once I was able to specify my goals (which songs I want to learn, learn how to read music, learn how to write music, different techniques), we documented these goals and immediately started to work on them.Lane has the gift of patience, positive reenforcement and, most importantly, the ability to break down aspects of a song for you to meet the challenge.I have grown exponentially in my ability to play songs, read and write music. I know this because Lane also gives you the opportunity to record your projects, which is a huge bonus if you want to measure your progression (or just show off to your friends).Regardless if you are a beginner, intermediate or looking for a new direction in your drumming, you should start lessons with this amazing, humble teacher!

If I had to describe this music school in one word, it would be patient, brilliant, fun, and big results. Okay, so I couldnt do it in one word. Lane has special talents for percussion and for kids. I have a challenging 9 year old with ADHD, and Lane works wonders with him. Lane is a quality teacher and musician. I did the introductory drum lesson with him and found Lane to have patience, very good communication, and his support was very positive in the way he talked and gave pointers and instruction on every aspect of playing the Snare Drum. Lane is a ROCK STAR! Very kind and patient. By the end of my first lesson I was playing the first few measures of the song I wanted to learn. I am a 53 year old grandmother. Hello. He is a classically trained drummer which means he really understands music theory and technique. Dont get me wrong, he is rock-and-roll all the way! After the lesson he emails you class notes (what you learned and what to practice.) He will send you software that allows you to slow down the song you are learning...so you can play along. He will create notation for ANY song you want to learn. When you get your drums he will come to your house, set them up and tune them. AND…(as if this werent enough) when you get good, he will make a music video of you playing. This is one stop shopping. Lane is THE ONE! Im so excited. I am actually going to learn to play the drums. Weeee!

I leave every lesson excited about what I learned and motivated to practice it and return next week.Up front, Lane talked to me about what I wanted to get out of drum lessons, and then he has catered my lessons to help me achieve my goals.When I first went to Lanes studio, I didnt know how to hold a drumstick. 30 minutes later, I was on the drum kit having fun and practicing the new things I had learned.Each week now, Im adding to my technique and getting more advanced on the kit. Its a blast! I get discouraged easily, and Lane is great at helping me work through things Im struggling with, and suggesting alternatives that help me eventually succeed.Another thing that is nice about Lane is hes always an email away, and he reviews your practice notes online and gives you feedback and suggestions.
