This school is great for students who find it easy working with computers and can stay motivated. The teachers call every month to check in and you can always book a call anytime U need to speak to a specific teacher or webmail them for a quick reply in 5minutes to an hour or join for live help time for quick help and questions. If you were to fail a test or portfolio (which is basically a worksheet or writing assignment) you get another chance to take it and some teachers are nice enough to give another EXTRA chance. In the 9th grade when I took my final for math and my final grade in the class was an 89 my teacher was nice enough to make it a 90 so I’d have all A’s for that semester. If you’re interested in going to college you can do dual enrollment also while still in high school, either full time college courses or only some . I started in 9th and on my way to the 11th grade.

I completed the registration called multiple times but no one told me about the credit policy. They made it seem like its soo smooth a flexible I really wanted my kids to attend but they lacked a few credits from there past school after they reviewed the final grades they then email me to say they will have to start in the past grade level . Then I had to watch this video that was soo uninviting it didnt the tone of the video was like I was getting punished lol I said never mind . I sent a email letting them know to withdraw the registration they didnt reply to say anything like ok I am sorry or nothing. It would have been nice to received a response back .

I had problems at another school so I chose GACA. I graduated this past December and I couldn’t be any happier with my experience. Teachers are extremely easy to get in touch with so are other staff. They actually CARE about their students and reach out to help us when we need it. The site is easy to navigate as well as all assignments and lessons on other sites. Have never had a a bad experience with the school. I can proudly say I graduated from Georgia Connections Academy.

Connections Academy has proven to be an absolute blessing to my family. My daughter started the second semester of the 19-20 school year. She was struggling in another online academy, and the ease of use of Connections Academys online portal combined with the readily available faculty and staff made the transition from mediocre student to great student possible. If you are considering an online school, this one is for sure one to consider. It has changed my middle school student for the better.Thank you Connections Academy for being a life changer!

I love Connections Academy! My son was being bullied and even physically assaulted a few times while in public school. We did everything to stop it but the kids were relentless. He has special needs classes and the kids were very mean because of it. After he came home with a football size bruise on his back I was done. I did some research and found Connections Academy and we enrolled him. He has been happy with it and is back to his normal self. He loves to make people laugh and is very sweet and watching the light he has slowly slip away was so hard. Connections Academy saved his life and brought back my sons light. I will be forever grateful for Connections Academy.

I love this school, most of the teachers are so amazing and kind. (some are not so great, but they are still nice, I have not come across a rude teacher! And 99.9% of the teachers I LOVE) The curriculum is not the greatest but I am able to be a full time dual enrollment student with GACA and a local college next year, so I will be able to take college courses instead! I have really loved my experience with this school because it is flexible (once you get used to it) and everyone is so nice. There are so many opportunities that Ive been able to take advantage of because of this school! I also have my schedule set up so that I dont have to do any school on Friday, so I get a 3 day weekend! It is the best. I do not recommend this school for anyone who does not have the motivation to do a lot of work in one day, or who does not care so much about their education, or who is not used to figuring their way around technology (that is very important). This is NOT easier than public school, so dont expect it to be! Its just like any other school, except with better teachers and way more flexibility. I also have been able to meet many other students over the built-in mailing system, and I participate in many activities outside of school so I definitely have a social life. Thanks to the entire staff at GACA for working so hard to make this school amazing!

I do not recommend this homeschool! It has been almost TWO MONTHS since school started, and STILL have not heard back from anyone. I have waited on hold with them three times for nearly two hours only for them to tell me to keep waiting. Education is taken very seriously in our household and they do not seem to be doing what they need to do. Still waiting for them to actually give work. (I am a high school student.) This is my first year being enrolled in this school, and have already found so many different negatives. You don’t get near the help that is needed! Seriously thinking about switching schools now.

Pros1. Great Customer Service2. Great class options if you want a more catered education for your child. You arent bound by traditional schools saying you can only take class X your freshman year because class Y is for juniors only.3. Great teachers and readily available.4. Great flexibility as to when they attend school just be mindful of when they have live lessons ( video conferencing with teachers) & time sensitive tests.Cons1.the interface for reviewing classwork is a bit confusing. I suggest going through the orientation & checking their work daily for your benefit as well as theirs. In conclusion its a great virtual online classroom experience. Its up to the caretaker, the one who will be physically at home with the student to make sure they focus on their assignments if they want to succeed. If the student needs that face to face then Connections will not work for them. However if you and your student has goals as in wanting to take the SAT/ACT by the end of their sophomore year so they can dual enroll by heir junior year then this will work great. You can select which classes they will take that will help them prepare for those standardized tests. Like chemistry, geometry, precalc etc.

Surprised by the comments I read. My Grand daughters have been in GACA for 4 years and we love it. There is NOT too much work if anything not enough. Do the Parents play a roll in helping their children YES; this is not a babysitter. You are a necessary part to your childs education. I love knowing what they are learning and I also know what they struggle with prior to a 9 weeks report card showing up. You stay on top of things and children dont fall behind. We have an assigned time and space in our home for school so it sets the tone of the day. Some days we go do things and make it up on the weekend. There are projects, essays etc that need to be completed and YES there is plenty of time to complete if you do not wait until the last minute. The only thing I dislike is that some teachers seem to be out way too much and have only had one teacher (out of 4 years) that weve struggled with. We requested a change and was assigned a new teacher immediately.Weve never had an issue reaching out to teachers/staff or getting a response. To all those calling their attorneys and State Board of Education - maybe this wasnt for you - this is a lot of work, time and dedication.

They seem to not talk to each other about how much work that each of them are giving to the students so students are getting stressed and falling behind. It is currently May 28th & they have yet to tell me if I will be able to participate. This is because one teacher has not marked my course as complete & graded my work.. If they chose to not pass me, I have to come back for 0.5 of a credit.. next year. That’s not even a full course, it’s half a semester. I think it’s crazy to be allowed to wait until the day of graduation to tell someone if they can walk or not & allow them to pay all this money for their graduation stuff. The staff lacks communication & waits until last minute to tell you what’s going on.

I had a great time in the school during the two years I did it in middle school, but it starts to get kinda complicated in high school. It seemed like there was always a new hoop to jump through when I went my freshman year, and I left after that. I could deal with all that if I had been placed in a better math class though. I already knew pretty much everything in that class, and the worst part was that I had signed up to do honors classes before the start of the year, and they stuck me in regular without telling me or responding to my moms webmail about why it had happened. Other than that, though, Ive had a lot of great experiences with the school. Its set up in a really nice way and they really make sure to give recognition to students who do a good job on something. The teachers call the student and make no attempt to contact or speak to the parents because they want to avoid questions! I was so livid, I had to call the call center to request for the principle in Duluth to call me, which was suppose to have been within 48hrs. 4 days later the principle calls me and Im asking her to explain what is going on, how my child wasnt receiving the education she be getting. This lady is reading me what a teacher has typed as notes!! Like Im on the phone with a customer service rep. I had to remind her that this is a child education and not recreation! She has the most flippant attitude Ive ever seen to be a so called principle! I immediately called the Dekalb County Board of Education. They pointed me to the Georgia Board of Ed. I told the acting principle that I would make sure that she was in the unemployment line and I was contacting my attorney, AND THATS A PROMISE!! Everyone that has a complaint need to call the Department of Education and have this program, I will not call it a school, shut down!!! Everyone of these people need to be held accountable by law!! I totally jacked well over half of one of the reviews from above bc its WORD FOR WORD TRUTH and how we feel about this program and it saved me a lot of typing!! I did revise some from our own experience w the staff but overall the exact same feelings!!This is NOT for kids who do well visually, who need interaction with student and teachers or do not like to be sitting in front of a computer sifting through HOW TO DO SOMETHING all day long. There is SO much time spent online and on the computer that my daughter was so stressed out with trying to find her links to sift through all the lessons and their modifications and making sure she submitted it correctly. Many lessons had modifications and if you were to follow the lesson you would get many things wrong because you were suppose to go to message board, sift through the webmails, read the fine print for how to submit something and most of the times it was different for ALL the classes. And it took a lot of time to click on not just one link to get to your answer but MANY different links. Downloading this and that for later use, portfolio after portfolio YES EXHAUSTING!! How stressful is that for a student who just wants to complete her work and submit it without the red tape. This is not USER friendly program and I found it very tedious and so much more work than what they expect. My daughter was spending way too much time on one lesson because there were live lessons outside of being on computer and then half the time trying to figure out how to submit lessons and having to go to the message board, checking emails, checking modifications, that she became so stressed out about the program and worrying so much about it. It requires A LOT of time, meaning all day long, I found this to be just TOO much for her. We thought it was getting better but the planner was filled with so much to do. The daily work was incredible. I mean too much because each class required more time than really allotted and half the time her having to sift through lesson emails, webmails, just trying to get the lesson right was ridiculous. I am all for challenging kids but it is important that the kids know what to do, what to expect and not be so stressed out each day wondering if they are doing the right thing. For weeks she worried about submitting it correctly and after reading through all rules, syllabus thinking she got it the teacher would go make a modification with a tiny little icon link and if you missed that during the lesson you would get a O on her grade. It was just highly stressful for her. It was not straight-forward at all. This confused her and stressed her out more than any other schooling that Ive seen her in. This was not a good fit for her at all!! In my opinion being challenged in school is good but if you are not confident on taking on the task and are stressed about learning it defeats the purpose. If you are one who wants to sit in front of a computer all day then maybe this is for you. Learning coaches be aware that you will be sitting there with your student probably most of the day because they will need so much help trying to figure out what to do, where to submit, making sure they dont screw up directions because it is not as straight-forward a program as I had hoped. I will say that the teachers were pretty nice. My daughters homeroom teacher called a couple of times to check on her and assure us everything would be ok which i appreciate but unfortunately that doesnt help her with the program. Other teachers were a little more complicated especially with grading and i wish i could leave screen shots for examples but it isnt giving me that option!! All in all be careful when commiting to this program it is one big anxiety attack waiting to happen. I dont recommend putting any child through it :(

This is the WORST decision I have made for my son! I thought it would be better for him because he has medical issues. I was completely wrong! The work they are basically teaching themselves by reading the Lessons. Hes on the computer working 7-10 hours a day including hours on the weekends and is still behind. He started 10 days late in the 2 semester which are half year not quarters. He had to make up 10 days worth of work even though they put him on a waiting list and he was in his B&M school until the day he enrolled. He was an all A student in all gifted classes, now barely a C student and failing his favorite subject. They are bullying and threating students and parents over the milestones because the school is failing. 7th grade does not have to pass the milestone to move on!!! Only 3rd, 5th, and 8th can be held back and thats only if their grades are poor, otherwise parents can choose to move their children on based on their grades throughout the year! I have yet to have his 504 plan corrected since the counselor wont get back to me (which is illegal) since he has a diagnosed medical condition. They pile work on them and want them to attend 1 hour live lessons sometimes 3x a day, which is impossible to do both without working 10 hour days. I hate this school and wish I never enrolled him!!!!!!

This school doesnt have a strong special education department. The teachers are very professional and communicate with parents and students very well via Webmail and by phone. But the special education team does have a good foundation as to how to accommodate children with IEPs and 504s through online learning. There needs to be separate classes for these students that need help keeping up with the more strenuous workload that is given to each student. They dont do any modifications except for the milestone testing. The same workload is given for an IEP or 504 student as students which dont have need these accomodations. This includes attending the live lessons, extra help resources and then the work. Each live lessons for middle school is anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour long so on some days theyre back to back for 3 or 4 hours then the work has to be completed on top of that the extra help sites like study island etc also has to be completed. This is great for advanced students but not below average. They will be at risk of falling behind.

No substitute teachers- If you choose this school you are 75 percent on your own. Teachers will cancel live lessons without reschedule.2. Teaching method is not for everyone. My daughter had questions about fractions that where never answered.3. NOT FOR MILITARY CHILD- We moved to Texas the week after testing. My daughter scored low on 1 test. The school requested a re-test, but we were no longer in Georgia. Due to that and Georgias law, my daughter was not moved to the next grade after performing great all year.-As a military family, I was expecting a transfer to connections academy Texas to retake test, but the Georgia school just told us that that was not possible. We learned that Texas will provide resources for children and test during summer to help student promote to the next grade.I will not recommend this school to anyone since Georgia Connections Academy will not help your child if he/she is in need. It is the same as your local school. They will work with children that learn fast and dont need additional help.- Lesson learned: Private Homeschool

We love GACA. We used to home school and always had problems keeping on a schedule - we usually worked almost year round. With GACA we have to keep up and it is working well for both my students, one of which has an IEP. Teachers and Support people are all nice and helpful.

This is a webmail my child sent on the last day of school and it is true:Dear teachers,This has been a great school year and I would like to thank you for it. It taught me alot and i am glad you got to be my teacher for this year. I will miss all of you. Sadly, this will be my last year at GACA. I am thankful for great teachers like you. I came to this school because it seemed like it cared about if I learned things and went at speed of me. That is just what it did. Even though I could not go to a building every day and be around alot of people. I know that you had over 100 webmails a day and I always got a response back, and even a phone call for help. So I am glad I made the choice to go to GACA. Especially with teachers like you. It was well worth the cons of the situation. Education comes first and I know it will here. I will be in a district public school this year so I can have so in person memories of high school but I will never forget you and I hope you have a good summer because you deserve it. Always remember you impacted at least one student greatly and that student is me! Happy Summer and good bye.

School is trash. The teachers are unpredictable, little to no help at all. Need help on a portfolio? They will tell you to redo-it and send it via webmail, okay I asked for help not for you to tell me to redo it. How can you redo something i you dont know what to do? Super quick to put in temporary zeros but if you ask for help or ask them to take the zeros out after you complete the work? They are out of office. Little to no communication. Stress and anxiety, hello! The whole learn at your own pace is horseradish. Yes, I would know, Ive been enrolled since 7th grade now as a rising Junior I know that you CANNOT work at your own pace. By the way, I often have to get up early in the morning sometimes 3 - 4 am doing my work and finish around 6pm so it s not like Im not doing it. Holiday breaks? School work, weekends? schoolwork. Some days I work 12 hours but its just SO MUCH. I literally work from the beginning up until the last minute of each semester because I want amazing grades. I understand challenge is healthy but to much of anything can become harmful. I got behind in Geometry about a month ago (it takes me a bit longer to grasp math) and I received several web-mails stating that if I didnt catch up by the end of the WEEK they would mark me as truant. (I was still doing my work in my other classes! I have to take my time in math because if I rush through I will have the lessons completed but I would fail them and that wouldnt help me). Another thing, this year alone (2016-2017) I have had 3 - 4 different teachers for Honors Lit and Comp. Why? Because they fired my first teacher for being a homosexual. Having substitute teachers when home-schooled is impossible! Substitutes do not care they dont know whats going on, and you basically have to teach yourself. The gradebook, WOWZAH! Youd think its helpful being able to see your grades so you dont fall behind. Think again. It is so easy to become unhealthily obsessed with your grades. Connections prides itself on being flexible and it isnt. If you decide to go for GACA, good luck and godspeed.

This school is horrible they make you test in a hot hotel downtown with all the traffic, and the computers for EOG testing dont work. My class has had hard times trying to test. I know this because I am a current 7th grade student, But I will not be attending next year

It was absolutely a disaster. It started alright but then it started getting complicated. She started 9th Grade , first time home schooling.1st term was horrible... The teachers were rude specially the Home room teacher. The English teacher kept on saying that my daughter is not fit to be in an honors class. She was falling behind. I spoke to the counselor she told me that dont worry she can pick up her work in summer but she never told me that if she doesnt complete her work during her term... she will fail. I came to find out much later on.... And I complained about her and spoke to one of the administrator.... they said dont worry she can complete her work in the 2nd term. Not only that she completed her 2nd term work, she had to do all of her 1st term work.... everything all over again... and she got As and Bs in most subject... but still they failed her in 1 term... can you imagine... the system... it ruins chances of a good student... She is in 10th Now NAHS and she is getting All As I am really angry... this needs to be addressed to the Board of Education.....

Wow! I cannot believe the owner/leadership of GACA, put this young mans name in his response. How unprofessional and irresponsible is that. Sometimes I check reviews and I have never seen anything so upsetting. My son is a 8th grader at Georgia Connections Academy, so I know first hand how that testing went last year. There was alot of computer issues and the drive to the testing site was an hour away. I offer this suggestion for the future testing, please pick hotels and conference rooms that are comfortable and benefit the success of students. It does not make sense to overload computers with student testing and. numerous hotel events. That is not fair to students, nor the testing process. The state testing site was messed up and on top of that the hotel had several conferences going on and everyone using computers at the same time. I feel the pain of every student that did not have a positive experience last year; keep your head up and keep working hard. Shame on GACA, we teach our children to keep personal information private. I hope whoever wrote this response will revise it, to reflect the love and care the school stands for. This is an update to my review. Whatever you do, dont transfer your child out of high school in the middle of a semester or after a grading period ends at the school you are transferring to. My son did not get credit for his Term 1 report card. Instead his grades were transferred from GACA on a standards method---grades were put in for each standard. How the new school saw the standard from a reporting period that ended is beyond me. I urge you to wait until the end of the school year if possible or end of semester.

This is NOT for kids who do well visually, who need interaction with student and teachers or do not like to be sitting in front of a computer sifting through HOW TO DO SOMETHING all day long. There is SO much time spent online and on the computer that my daughter was so stressed out with all the CLOAK and DAGGER trying to find her links to sift through all the lessons and their modifications and making sure she submitted it correctly. How stressful is that for a highschool student who just wants to complete her work and submit it without the red tape. This is not USER friendly program and I found it very tedious and so much more work than what they expect. My daughter was spending way too much time on one lesson because there were live lessons outside of being on computer and then half the time trying to figure out how to submit lessons and having to go to the message board, checking emails, checking modifications that she became so stressed out about the program and worrying so much about it. It requires A LOT of time, meaning all day long, She was starting High school and found this to be just TOO much for her. For two weeks she worried about submitting it correctly and after reading through all rules, syllabus thinking she got it the teacher would go make a modification with a tiny little icon link and if you missed that during the lesson you would get a O on her grade. It was just highly stressful for her. It was not straight-forward at all. This confused her and stressed her out more than any other schooling that Ive seen her in. This was not a good fit for her at all so two weeks into the program we withdrew her and got her into school that fits her so much better. She is much more relaxed now and in my opinion being challenged is school is good but if you are not confident on taking on the task and are stressed about learning it defeats the purpose. There was a teacher however, who gave my daughter a 0 for a simple misunderstanding about submitting her work and after almost three days of trying to contact her to re-submit the assignment- per her instructions- she still did not return webmail. I was disappointed at the lack of communication between her and my daughter. My daughter needed the help, the communication to feel like she was doing what she was suppose to but because the teacher did not respond I therefore withdrew my daughter because I knew that this was not going to bode well for the year having to deal with this kind of thing. And not to mention, to relieve the anxiety and stress it was causing my daughter it was the best decision we made. I am aware that there may be other reviews that are good. This was our experience the first two weeks of school. I had hoped for much better.
