I had my daughter attend The Schoolhouse for 3 years before entering public school Kindergarten. Let me just start of with the fact that she is now at the top of her class academically, has great social skills and is a pretty well rounded little person. The Schoolhouse definitely had a huge part in that. The fairly small building located next to a gas station wasnt exactly catching our attention when we did our extensive research for a local preschool. We went there last, a little skeptical and still not down with any of the other options we had seen. And glad we were from the moment we walked in! We loved the place immediately! The rooms, the teaching materials, the backyard with lots to explore, the curriculum, attention to detail. And most of all the staff! Really caring, professional, and educated. It really became a home away from home for our little one we could feel good about and will always remember with a soft spot in our heart.A grateful parent.

This is a great place to have your kids learn the basics. The staff is GREAT and very excited to help teach your child. By far the BEST daycare that I have seen run. My daughter loves the school and has made friends. The other parents are great as well. We simply love the school and the staff!!!!

I am a teacher at The Schoolhouse. This is a great place to work. My co-workers are great. They say it takes a village to raise a child, well we all work together with the great parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents to help each child be who they are and still learn, while having fun. We all have different strengths and collaborate together to make an awesome learning environment. We are not your average daycare; we are a place where children can be themselves and learn to be life long learners. After working a being a teacher for 10 years and working in different schools, I think I finally found a home at The Schoolhouse.

We love the thoroughness of The Schoolhouse in that no detail is left out. Our son and his education are and continue to be the priority within the facility. The environment is inviting and kid friendly, but not busy and distracting in a way that seems overwhelming. The communication between the staff and our family is incredible. We love that there isnt a day that goes by where there isnt something fun or interesting communicated to us regarding our son. We love that when we drop him off in the morning, he immediately runs to his classroom and begins his day excitedly. We love that the staff interacts so well with not only our son, but all of the children in a way that is more of a mentor, teacher, and caregiver rather than a babysitter. And we love that we feel like we are now involved with a new and extended family. We appreciate the care the staff take with our son in the way they help him learn new and exciting life goals and milestones from everything to putting on his jacket to building new friendships. We are hopeful for the future and the possibilities that The Schoolhouse has given our son.

The Schoolhouse is the most professional, and well run preschool Ive been to. Im a self-published childrens book author, and I have read my book Sofphty The Neat Pillow at The Schoolhouse twice now. Both times they have been very friendly and supportive of all authors. They celebrate National Reading Month every year in March and invite authors to come read to the kids. Angilla does an excellent job coordinating/communicating with me. I would recommend this school to all parents.

Not only is this the best learning environment for learners, it is a GREAT place to work! I have worked here since the opening in 2011 and I can not be more proud to be apart of something so AWESOME! The families here are so loving and our Director is a true woman of passion and professionalism. She provides a stress free, caring enviorment where the staff are able to use their creativity and natural talents. We are a family here at The Schoolhouse. I have gained so much priceless growth here and meet some of the best people that I have ever encountered. I am so excited to see what other great things will happen here over the years and the AWESOME things our learners will grow on and continue to experience.

We are so thankful for the Schoolhouse where our little girl has been attending since August. They were able to fit our daughter in right away after we had a sudden need for day care and they have been very accomodating with our work schedules from the beginning. We have been amazed at the attention to detail from all the teachers and staff; from helping with special allergy food needs to organizing daily crafts and projects they cover it all! The teachers even helped the kids make a thanksgiving feast where the kids helped with food prep and then chowed down after the teachers had finished the cooking. They also text photos and updates of how your kid is doing throughout the day while we are at work. I highly recommend sending your child to The Schoolhouse!

My 2 years old daughter has been at the Schoolhouse for over 2 months. We removed her from a chained daycare nearby. She enjoys going to school and sometimes doesnt want to leave when I pick her up. The Schoolhouse is our 2nd family in which the teachers are nurturing and love what they do. The parents are also heavily involved in school and community activities. It even smells like home and not a daycare. We are so blessed to be able to find this gem of a school for our daughter and growing family.

As a devoted educator and child care professional, I will say there is no other place I have ever experienced the level of dedication to a child’s learning process than here! Ms. Jones is incredibly strategic in how she curates an environment for children to thrive no matter what! As a former teacher (who only left because of relocation) I loved being apart of the lives of the students here and being able to take part in their journey of becoming confident and curious people. There is no other school that can provide for your child and your family what The Schoolhouse provides. The atmosphere is loving and each child needs and interest are catered to in a very personal manner. No two children are the same and in this school you will definitely see the many ways they can be different. Everyone is celebrated for exactly who they are. Even the staff!

We LOVE The Schoolhouse! Being a part of The Schoolhouse, is like being a part of a big family! The director, Angilla Jones, is a wonderful person, who takes the time to get to know each child and family individually. Our son has been attending The Schoolhouse for over 2 years now and we are so blessed to see what he has learned. It has been a great educational and social learning experience for him! We are very pleased with The Schoolhouse. If you are in the NE Atlanta area, I highly recommend you come for a visit!

The Schoolhouse is truly a unique learning community where children learn to work together towards a common goal and interest, nurturing an important skill that is lost in todays virtually connected world. Children learn both high level academic and social skills through hands-on experiences and free play. The ample amount of time that the children spend outside enjoying the natural play area (with a lot of free space, natural play equipment, sand and mud) is one of the most important reasons we love the Schoolhouse. There is no other preschool in the area that can compare. The teaching staff and the Director, Angilla Jones, create a family atmosphere that really is a home away from home. They take the time to understand and implement the needs and desires of each learner and family. Angilla is an inspiring individual with a beautiful vision for the school. We are fortunate that our sons first schooling experience has been so positive as this is the beginning of his lifelong journey as a learner. The staff works hard to instill confidence in the children that will carry with them throughout their academic careers. Our youngest son, although not attending the Schoolhouse just yet, has been welcomed and loved by all of the staff and students, really making the school feel like a second family. What amazes me the most about the Schoolhouse, beyond the unique learning experience and warm environment, is the incredible amount of patience that the staff has with the children. The teachers are able to set boundaries without punishment through respectful conversation, and the children emulate this invaluable skill. I have never seen a group of children so patient and respectful of each other. It truly is a wonderful place and we feel so fortunate to be part of the Schoolhouse family.

My children are 7 and 4, and theyve attended The Schoolhouse almost 4 years. Our family loves it, and here are a few reasons:1. The staff is carefully selected, highly qualified and sincerely interested in the childrens development. Unlike many preschools and daycare centers, turnover is low.2. Field trips and school activities are well-planned and executed. All activities and trips are integrated into the daily learning of the children. For example, after learning about gravity and force, the children visited and participated in a skydiving simulator.3. The playground has real dirt, trees, flowers, plants, vegetable garden, bugs, blue blocks, swings, etc. The children get plenty of time each day to play and interact outside. There is no 20 minute limit here!4. The teachers and director work together with parents and children to develop learning plans that are unique to each child. Whether your child is struggling in class with math or at home with tantrums, the TSH staff will work with the family to figure out the challenge, brainstorm options and resolve it. I have learned so many parenting strategies from the staff at TSH.5. Spanish is taught to ALL children. They learn vocabulary, verb conjugation, writing, etc. My children sing, speak, read and write in Spanish, and we do not speak it at home.We have been truly blessed through our experiences at The Schoolhouse. I highly recommend it.

My grandson had the most wonderful experience with The Schoolhouse! Please note that the building is not the vital concentration (although it is immaculate), but the staff sure is!Everything starts from the top down, so I will focus on the heart and compassion that Angilla Jones has for her students, their families and the staff. The heart of a person is where everything comes from. Knowing Angilla, I must state that her heart is not just as big as she is, but bigger (yes, it is possible). Seeing and hearing the mannerisms she conducts herself with to all who enter The Schoolhouse (and in her personal life also), I feel all students and their families are blessed beyond measure to be a part of the atmosphere created at The Schoolhouse.I could go on and on :)

This is the school that I dreamt of but I never knew I could find. My daughter who will be turning 4 years old in a couple of days writes, is doing early addition, and is starting to read.I was moving from Maryland to Duluth, GA and researching preschools in the area for my then 2 year old daughter. I made a few phone calls as well as a list of the schools I was interested in with a clear number 1. After coming down, my husband and I visited the schools including my #1 choice but I was not won over at all and starting to get distressed. However, the minute I walked into The Schoolhouse I was blown away and have been ever since. The feeling you get walking in the door is one of love, energy, and warmth. This is a place where the children are hugged when they come in (if they choose), they are allowed to be children but challenged to excel. They are given structure and the opportunity to make choices and have to reflect whether or not it was a good one. Multiple times per week parents are given reports of what their child is learning and how they are performing. Twice a year, there are parent conferences with the teacher to discuss the development milestones and progress being made in a variety of areas. Finally, the field trips and community engagement activities offered by the school are phenomenal. They help the children connect what they’ve learned to what exists in reality. For the first few months after my daughter was enrolled we received text messages throughout the day with pictures showing us her interactions in the classroom/school. This gave me the peace of mind that she was adjusting well and happy and it gave me a peek into what she was doing. My husband who was still in Maryland was able to feel like he was here with us although he was far away. The Schoolhouse is a community, where the parents know each other, the children all interact and are friends, and all of the teachers feel like family. I am grateful to have found the school and am thankful that our daughter is able to attend.I believe that the only thing we can truly give our children to be successful is a strong academic and interpersonal foundation. I firmly believe that being enrolled at The Schoolhouse is doing just that.Thank You The Schoolhouse!

UPDATE - Still here, 3 years after 1st review, if that tells you anything. I still stand by every word below and would add more if Google let me.2015 reviewWords fail to convey how much I love this school. We previously had our daughter at one of those national chain daycares and when I saw they werent focusing on the kids health and education, we moved her. I drove by the Schoolhouse, desperate to find something better for my little one. And when I walked in, my heart leapt for joy: they say it takes a village to raise a child and I had finally found my village. In Miss Angilla Jones, the Director, I found a kindred spirit who truly believes in the influence early education has on the rest of a persons life. She is so passionate about it, continuously learning new techniques and methods, even going so far as to traveling to Europe to understand their ways of teaching children. Her energy and enthusiasm impressed me... and I hadnt even seen the school yet!The rooms are large, bright and open, where the kids can flow into and out of different learning areas. The rooms are peaceful and tastefully decorated, creating a sense of peace and tranquility. And yes, kids will make a mess but they learn to help pick it up. The days are divided into play, learning, nourishing and rest time. During play, the kids are allowed to use their imaginations-- turning a dozen scarves into everything from superhero capes to ballerina skirts to baby blankets to pretend horses. During learning, the kids sit around the teachers, hearing about everything from the water cycle to the functions of human organs to why flowers have pollen. They learn far beyond what any curriculum says. If a parent is particularly skilled at something, then he/she has gone to the classroom to talk about what they do: weve had pilots talk about flying, musicians about playing instruments and engineers about taking care of the environment. As a parent, I never thought I could participate so actively in my childs learning at school.During lunch and snack time, there is focus on not only what is consumed, but the social act of eating. Kids learn independence by helping set the table with ceramic plates and glassware. Youd be surprised how few of the glasses actually break... kids learn to treat them carefully. No need to be babied with sippy cups and plastic. Come holidays, they help set up the full table : table cloth, fabric napkins, full silverware, and flowers in a vase. Even the 1-2 year olds! Its by challenging kids that they learn the best!At rest time, some (like mine) might not want to sleep. But they learn consideration by being quiet while their friends rest. Alongside that, they learn sharing, kindness, compassion, and manners-- many things being unfortunately lost in some educational settings. Then they go play in the dirt. If you read recent studies, there is correlation between higher levels of intelligence and the time spent outside in nature. There are no plastic swings, no rubber mulch. Just dirt, grass, sticks, leaves, wooden seesaw and swings, and a few bikes. And youd be surprised at their imagination with these things. Ive had mud pizzas made for me, a perfume of picked flowers and water, a handful of pretty rocks and a happy, sweaty and tired child to pick up at the end of the day. I wouldnt have it any other way.I cannot finish this review without speaking about the teachers. I am so grateful that people like them have followed their hearts to teach young children. It is not an easy job but they always smile, and take pride in what the kids are learning and how theyre growing. They treat them like any mother would-- they dont push the kids but make them rise to the challenge; they dont baby them but give them comfort when its needed. THESE are the people you want teaching the future of our society. And what a job they do.So if you have a little one that you want to see succeed, as a whole, decent, intelligent and caring human being, consider the Schoolhouse as the foundation of that success.
