Mrs. Clayton is a fantastic 1st grade teacher. Serenity learned so much this year because Mrs. Clayton made learning fun. She will always have a special place in our hearts. Serenity Ladybug is already missing her. She cried when she realized she wouldnt be seeing Mrs. Clayton again. We wish she could go with us to 2nd grade. We love you Mrs. Clayton.Judy York (LC)Serenity Robinson (1st grade student)

Great school! We love NCVA. Great teachers and unlike with regular public schools ( i know cause my 3 older kids went to them) my child actually gets to focus on learning reading, writing, math and etc. and not is other mess they are trying to teach kids at these schools. My daughter is doing great with NCVA. Lord willing this is where shell stay with her schooling.

My daughter has been at NCVA for 2 years now and will return next year as well! It is definitely a learning process to get used to a new style of schooling, but it is totally worth it. The only complaint I ever had is that if you have two students the information that is true for both students doesnt file share. In my opinion, you shouldnt have to go to the learning coach course a second time to enroll another student. The teachers are great, the online classroom just got a huge kid friendly update that my daughter absolutely loves, and the school is constantly pushing to work at each students level. In regular school my daughter was way above her class and they wouldnt give her harder work. At NCVA, they test the students 3 times a year and adjust the curriculum accordingly. I love it!

This school is the best. My child is an independent learner and the teachers are amazing. The teachers and the support staff (student advisor and counselors) are always available and work with the learning coaches to ensure that the students are learning and successful. If there was an ability to give 100 stars, I would give it to NCVA. Thanks for the support Ms. Beck and Ms. Shuler. Thanks all of Natalias previous and to this years teachers Ms. Wojciak, Ms. Stahlhut, Mr. Nicks. Thank You

Do not give your email address!!! Within 3 hours of submitting a request for more info i received 10 spam emails. Thankfully i did not give them my real phone number. The info they sent was useless. Essentially call for more info. When I called the enrollment specialst it was useless as well. The pat answer was it depends on the child, the teacher, and the phase of the moon. It you want to know details, try to get to a teacher.Avoid at all cost. Preceded at your own risk.

My son goes here. He loves the small class size, the fact that everything is online for him and he can still see his friends from his other school. I love that the teachers keep in touch with you and the fact that my son isnt being bullied on his way to school. I also love that he has books (actual textbooks!) to study from. Im keeping my son in NCVA until he graduates.

This is such a great school. Just the right mix of classroom and small classes, great teachers, and easy to follow program. Plus you still got your student guides, text books, etc. What an awesome way to learn.

K12 and NCVA have been an absolute blessing for our family. Our son, who is in kindergarten, was so eager to start school and beyond excited to learn. That excitement quickly was replaced by anxiety and problems with his brick and mortar public school. Finally, during the Christmas break, we enrolled him in NCVA. His excitement almost immediately came back and every day is a blessing. Watching him learn to read, excel in math and thrive in his education is rewarding beyond words. As his learning coach, the curriculum is broken down in an easy to teach way and his teacher is phenomenal in every way. K12 has most certainly changed our lives for the absolute better.

This school inconsistently applies standards and rules causing a great deal of confusion for families. For the last several years my child has been enrolled, I could barely get anyone to ever return an e-mail or a phone call when I needed anything. Now all of the sudden this year they have become completely rigid and inflexible with their rules and have not allowed the parents and students any time whatsoever to adjust. Things have become especially with the addition of Marcia Simmons - be careful of this woman, she will not care one bit about your child. This school treats children and parents like faceless names behind a computer instead of people with unique challenges, needs and goals. Marcia Simmons is especially cold and uncaring to the student needs, circumstances and situations. She had nothing useful or helpful to contribute to my family, only pointed the finger of blame, refused to help us and only gave us grief. Marcia Simmons is one of these educators that offers you only problems and no solutions. She is one of those educators who needs to be out of the school system and not working with children or families because she completely lacks compassion and sympathy. All she cared about was not having to help or work with me and my child. Do not waste your time with this school. If you do enroll, treat it like a temporary solution and get out of there the first chance you get. I am sorry this school is receiving tax-payer money to run as poorly as they do. I am sure K12 is a great academic program, but the people running the program are only concerned about themselves.

The enrollment process is a nightmare! When I originally called and got info, I was told there was plenty of space. Ive submitted all of my forms and yet the enrollment person assigned to me hasnt processed them properly. Ive continued to submit forms again and again. Ive talked to them on the phone and they say that everything is in, and yet I still get e-mail notifications telling me that not all of my forms are submitted. And now . . . today I just received an e-mail telling me that processing has now ended and My documents can not be processed because they were not all received! The enrollment process is faulty and the enrollment officer they assigned me to is unresponsive and because of her, my kids no longer have a chance of getting in. Now I have to scramble to figure out what were going to do for school this year.

Absolutely horrible experience from the start. About 6 months ago i tried to enroll in this online program. I suffer from a chronic illness and am trying to find an alternative way of education. Went through the lottery process and was waitlisted and have been ever since. My problem is not getting in, it’s the employees who make you think you’re going to get in when you’re really not. Complete waste of time. So much time wasted with this school just to be waitlisted and to be told that they have no clue if i will get in or not. Definitely not worth all of the time and effort wasted trying to get into this program. Very disappointed

Total joke. Went through a very lengthy and detailed enrollment process because I was told that there was a spot for my daughter. Went through the trouble of sending all of my paperwork/degrees ect. (at the agents urgent request) only to get an email that basically said, we are sorry to inform you that there are no spots available... try again next year. They didnt even put my children on the waiting list after I went through three days worth of sending in every document they requested. The agent was VERY clear with me. I was told that there WAS room for Gabby and that I needed to hurry up and send everything in by the deadline. I think they do this to make it appear that their is more interest in their program.....maybe more people on the waiting list equals more grant money and government funding??? I dont know why they handled it so dishonestly but I was furious.

3rd Grade is a shame!!! In math it is the worst school ever. The school buys the cheapest and hackable tools in the market and obligates families to use them. Teachers like KELLY SHANAHAN doesnt teach the program for 3rd grade but create tests that are not for their level. If you want to change the incompetent teacher, the school doesnt give any solution!!! Very incompetent 3rd grade team. We have been working very hard all the semester, but If you complain about the bad organization of the classes, teachers retaliate by lying about the childs work and assistance only to make the child get a bad grade. My child only has got frustration in this school. I dont recommend this school!!! It is the worst in 3rd Grade.

My oldest son has autism and has always done well in school until he started middle school. The bullying and teasing was relentless, and as a result his grades started to drop. We found out about NCVA and decided to give it a try. My son is now in 10th grade and is thriving! His grades are great, and without the pressure of fitting in with his peers he worries less and can focus more on his school work. We love NCVA and are so thankful it was an option for us!

Nothing but issues from the beginning of enrollment. They cancelled my daughters application without even attempting to reach me. They werent sure why no attempts to reach me were logged in their system. They then told me my daughter was approved for a seat and when I called they told me it was a mistake. They told me several times they would have a counselor call me back and they never did.

If you need an online High school dont expect anything but time wasted sending everything in to a business hungry/telemarketing firm who wants you to complete everything immediately. Then you will be told that there were exactly ZERO seats available in the 2018-2019 school year for ALL of high school. Even if you entered the lottery there were no seats available. Crazy waste of time and disappointing they run like a telemarketing firm even before you get there.

THIS IS A HORRIBLE SCHOOL !! Teachers constantly changing times and days of their required class connect sessions making it impossible to attend but if you miss them they threaten you with expulsion!! If you try to talk to admin about it then the teachers lie about your childs progress, attendance, or anything else they can use to punish the child for what the parent has done. My child has ADHD and I have REPEATEDLY tried to get the help they say they offer to no avail. They always say they didnt get the paperwork, or that you re talking to the wrong person... Its a constant run around. Last year was ok but this year is ridiculous. The curriculum is insulting (ex. Math question: do you fasten a seat belt before you get in the car, while in the car, or after you are in the car) yes thats suppised to be Math. They say you can work at your own pace yet if your child gets ahead they tell you to dumb it down because it must be you just clicking thru pretending to do the lessons! If you or your child are disabled YOU WILL BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST!! GWEN ASHBURN IS ONE OF THE WORST TEACHERS I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!! SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TEACH PERIOD! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS PROGRAM DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD!!

I have a son that has been enrolled for 2 yrs now. It took a lil adjusting, but it beats all that we encountered with his struggles @ brick & mortar charter school. I know 3rd grade has been more challenging than 2nd was for him. Mrs. Forbes & Mrs. Shanahan have been awesome with communication...actually, they probably get tired of me. They also have made changes in my sons small groups to where hes gaining knowledge, making strides, instead of getting bored. I do like all that the school offers to our family, but like anything, theres always pros & cons. My oldest child is new to NCVA this year. He was @ the same school from Kindergarten through 7th. I believe middle school is a whole different environment in many ways. I was hoping that making the change and having him @ home would be beneficial, but still struggling with certain subjects. Once again, pros and cons, but my oldest isnt so kin on the online schooling. My best advice is to pray abt your childs education and do all that you can to encourage them to be successful!
