Absolute best place to learn your fundamentals and basics in jiu jitsu if you’re starting out . I been to many places. But this is one of the best.My mount was absolute garbage and trash when I came here. (I was formerly in another school )I would get thrown off like when a little brother fights a big brother . I couldn’t even escape mount well . A couple months later (2-3? ) into this place . My mount now is comparable to a child being fed steroids and now that child looks like one of those ripped anime characters who looks like an adult but is really 12. I can get out of mount way more easily and maintain and hold/ retain dominant position . I gotten like 70 percent better going here. Amazing environment especially for beginners. I haven’t done jujitsu a day on my life and I understood the lesson and everyone there was super friendly and helped give me pointers. They also took temperature at the door and kept the location very clean and I felt safe from COVID at all times. All in all I would 100% recommend this place to friends, family and anyone I knew who was interested in learning self defense

I have a fairly vast Martial Arts background with Black Belts in Karate, Kenpo Karate and Tae Kwon Do as well as extensive training in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts. I also have a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu and have been to the Gracie academy in Torrance. I contacted Sunny the owner and he was very welcoming and shared alot of information with me. He invited me to drop in if I visited the area so I did. He is a great teacher and very gentle and detail oriented. His students were very friendly and welcoming also. I will definitely be back to visit. I highly recommend their school as a great place to learn the Gracie Combatives fundamentals.

Any Gracie CTC is great in that they are certified by the Gracie family themselves out of Torrence California. This one is excellent in how Sunny not only talks through techniques, but also how he analyzes different possibilities with and for you. Excellent coaching and instructor.

We started our kids here a few months ago and have nothing but great things to say about Gracie Durham and especially the owner, Sunny. He and his staff have such a wonderful way with kids it has been a delight to watch them have such fun while learning the basics of Jiu Jitsu. Sunny makes it easy for your kids to come and check it out and see if it’s a good fit for them. Highly recommended!

When I think of Jiu Jitsu, Gracie Durham is what pops in my mind. There is a major focus on execution of the techniques, the theory behind it, the ideas that transcend what is being taught. It is a very approachable school, and the curriculum is Gracie. Very solid school!Sunny runs a phenomenal class. Easy going and funny guy, too. He encourages questions, is able to break down the reasoning behind is answers, which I believe, allows a Jiu Jitsu practitioner to eventually make the art their own.The people there are the nicest folks I have met.
