After being a “self taught” guitarist for over a decade, I’ve progressed further in 4 weeks of lessons with Nick than I have over YEARS on my own. Most importantly, I’m having more fun playing my guitar than ever before. Nick does a great job of taking the things I want to learn and introducing them a fun and digestible method. Beyond instructions, the weekly jams are welcoming, professionally structured, and unbelievably fun for musicians of all skill levels. I can’t recommend MLD enough if you’re just getting started playing music, or if you have some time under the belt and want to evolve into the best musician you can be.

Great music school with great teachers and great programs that has a different and (in my opinion) better approach to lessons. Their group lessons are especially good, as that they get you playing with pro level players who are also great teachers. I recommend them for anyone from novice to advanced levels.

All-around positive experience with MLD. Not only did they make learning music fun, but the performances helped to build confidence in front of crowds. Everyone was very supportive and encouraging. Teachers are talented themselves and share their love of music. They were able to pivot remote lessons seamlessly when COVID shut things down and offer this as an option when traveling or schedule just dont permit a ride to the studio. I would highly recommend to anyone interested!!

First time at Wednesday Jam session . Instructors were tremendous , other players were great dudes and , great players … so helpful and it was such a blast … can’t wait til next one .

My 6 year old daughter had a great time exploring music and meeting other kids in Kidzrock at Musical Life Denver. She also has been taking drum lessons virtually with one of the instructors. Although not ideal, it was a great way to remain engaged in music during the pandemic. I appreciate the instructors and Robby at MLD and recommend their programs!

Ive attended two adult rock group sessions at Musical Life Denver and it has been life-changing. The staff are amazingly talented, professional and fun. The folks Ive met in class are not only excellent musicians, theyre great people. Its like jamming every week with your best buds!The best part about taking classes at Musical Life Denver is that you improve your skills while having a blast, AND you get to perform live at the end of each session! I highly recommend Musical Life Denver to musicians of all ages.

I’ve done two sessions of Adult Rock at Musical Life Denver and it’s been a wonderful experience. Robby is a great instructor and musician.....and a lot of fun. I highly recommend this program for folks looking to learn about playing in a band. One bonus feature is at the end of each session, we play live at a club in Denver. Total blast!!

Three + years ago I saw MLD Wednesday Jam on Meet Up. As a new bass player, I desired to be able to play with others. Taking a deep breath, I attended one Wednesday night. I found this place while doing a search for Open Blues Jams. I had to make a decision to participate in the jam at Musical Life or go to a bar and try to get on stage. Im so glad I chose Musical Life. Robby was so cool, friendly and welcoming. He participated in the jam, playing drums, guitar and singing. He was very helpful with all of the players. Participants in the jam were all very cool and friendly. I had a great time and look forward to doing again.

Musical Life is new to me. Ive been interested in joining the Blues class for awhile, and finally have a schedule that allows me to attend. Robbie, the teacher, was awesome - very welcoming and well organized. The building that is home to Musical Life Denver is an excellent venue: some small teaching rooms for private lessons, and then a bigger room for group lessons and jams. Theres a really nice bunch of people to play with , and Robbie leads the group expertly. I dont get a chance to play out with other people very often, so this was really fun and inspiring. Ill be practicing for next week!

In my opinion, Musical Life Denver is one of the best music schools in the Englewood area for all ages and skill levels. The staff members are extremely helpful and friendly towards each and every student, always aiming to make people feel welcome and part of the Musical Life family. In my time here, I have gotten to know the majority of the staff and other students involved in the community on a personal level. Furthermore, I feel that the song-based system of learning based on incremental developments of important skills is a fresh approach that balances fun and learning well. Whether it be lessons, group jam sessions, or public performances around the Denver metro area, Musical Life provides numerous opportunities to play with others and to grow as a musician.

My guitar playing has improved immensely since I started attending jam sessions at Musical Life Denver about two months ago. Robby is a great instructor and has made learning guitar fun again. I have been playing guitar for about 12 years, but never really found a group of musicians to play with since I moved to Denver 6 years ago, and my guitar playing got stale. Attending Robbys workshops and jam sessions opened up a whole new world of music for me. I highly recommend MLD for musicians at any level.

My husband, Jason Schmidt, drums for MLD. He has nothing but great things to say about Robby and his staff. His drum instructor Jacob is truly a gifted drummer and great teacher! Im a regular participant to the Sunday jam and they are a blast for musicians of all levels. Robby has great energy and makes playing together just plain fun. He is also an accomplished musician and if youre lucky he may treat you to a blistering solo.I also took guitar lessons from Robby, he listened to what I wanted and customized his lesson plans to my needs (in my case, I wanted to be able to play along to any music without having to learn particular pieces, I know others may want to learn to play certain songs or a solo from their favorite artists and he can do that too)I recently purchased a bass and will likely take introductory lessons from Robby to get started on the right track.

Patience and great enthusiasm in this fantastic teacher. He really cares about teaching you the right way and makes it easy! My daughter actually picks up her guitar FOR FUN and practices several times a day now. We have been taking lessons with Robbie for about 6 months and have improved immensely!

I wish I could have found this place many years ago! I have always struggled with trying to find people to play with through craigslist or friends. Ive never felt like they took it as serious. People would not practice their parts and not be prepared for band practice and it would lead to 20 minute stoner jams on the E and A chords.The instructors at musical life are top notch musicians, knowledgable and great teachers. In the past, I have had lessons and music stops being fun. Musical Life Denver makes it fun, keeps it fun and provides a platform from which you can demonstrate your newly learned skills.In the adult band groups, the instructors make sure every one is doing their homework and being prepared for band practice which leads to productive practices. Musicians of all levels are encouraged to join and the instructors make sure every student fits into the puzzle. The instructors give students parts that they are capable of and then challenge them a little more. I have seen improvement in everyone of my band mates through out this fall session. And to top it all off the fall session ended with an amazing show at Your Moms House in down town Denver!I will mention that there tends to be more guitar players that come. So, not every guitar will get to play every song. I found that fine because the instructors encouraged me to to sing, also, which is not something I seriously considered before but I will definitely do again.I am so grateful for this creative outlet and the new musician friends that I have made! And I am so excited to be a student for the upcoming year!

I have enjoyed watching the adult bands at MLD performing at the end of each semester and have been wanting to participate, but wasn’t sure if I was ready. I have felt stuck at a permanently intermediate level for many years. For at least 20 years I have had a dream of someday becoming good enough to play SRV on stage with a “real band,” but was never able to reach this goal on my own. This semester I joined one of the adult bands at MLD and had a chance to learn and master a number of songs as part of a band of very talented and wonderful fellow musicians and join them on stage for a live concert in front of a large crowd. I’m proud to say that we did an awesome job and I even had a chance to play one of my favorite SRV songs complete with solos. It was literally a dream come true! A dream that the staff at MLD helped me realize through their encouragement, support, structure and drive. They helped me develop enough as musician to make my musical dreams come true!

Robby and his staff go above and beyond for their students. Ive seen the growth first hand and would reccomend MLD to anyone wanting to learn and become a better musician.

I started going to the Wednesday jam sessions and had a great time. Good people, knowledgeable musicians and the music degree that Robbie has is very apparent in his work which is great to see these days.

I’ve learned more from Robby in a few weeks than I have from any other avenue I’ve taken with guitar. He has an environment thatHe’s a coach and a hell of a player. His Sunday blues jams are fun, educating, and done so in an environment where you don’t feel intimidated. You get to play with a band and everyone has plenty of opportunities for solos, perfect for a wannabe like me!
