Bought my guitar here years ago and try and get there when in town. Was there 10/22 and was playing a lot of the Fenders. Rome, the Manager let me play one of the expensive ones and allowed me to jam in a sound room. Way cool. It made even me sound good. Thanks. A great place. See you again..

Its safe to say that shopping here was one of the best experiences shopping that Ive ever had. The staff here is awesome and very knowledgeable as well as patient (Specifically Mike Marino). With me being a 1st time guitar buyer & new learner I didnt know a lick about guitars when I went into the store. I just knew I wanted to get one and learn!I was approached by Mike and he sat down with me and played various guitars and broke everything down to almost a science. Then we compared brands and features and he helped me pick out the best guitar for my needs and ambitions! 10/10!I would recommend this store to anyone!

Purchased my K Yairi CY-140 classical guitar & hard shell case (brand new) from Adam Salaga, a real pro, back in Nov 2007... ser.#70207... and this fantastic classical beauty has served me well over the years and has been a purchase that I will always treasure in my collection of guitars! I love it! It still plays like velvet, excellent tone. I use it mainly for softer, finger picking for the classics, and will never part with it fer sure! (still looks and frets like I unpacked it..brand new). I also have a vintage 1962 genuine Brazilian rosewood Martin D28, which I prefer, for its louder, voicing, & tone quality when Im playing bluegrass!Dont know if the CY 140 Yairi is still being made today,...but it has sure made my day over the years!I rate it for an ezee 5...and Adam also for a big 5! No longer play out but own several axes from World of Music. When it’s time for a repair or upgrade Tom is my man. Selection always nice. I only play for my dogs but the store treats me like a Rock Star. Nothing but good to say about this place. Wanted to add to my review. Took in a custom made axe from overseas and asked Tom to Make it a Player and he did just that. He knows what it takes to make me happy with an axe and doesnt sell me something I dont need. You need to give him a try, because he gets the job done and knows what hes doing.Took another barn find in for Tom to make into a player. He went over it and installed the new pickups I purchased. WOW, this thing is a Rock and Roll machine now. He did a great job as always. Sure you can go to the Big Box Music Store, but lets keep the small guy in business. They spend their money here and Erie, you should too.

Before even entering the store we came around to the handicapped entrance and we were yelled at for ringing the doorbell and using that entrance. Mind you it said this was the wheelchair entrance RING DOORBELL! (I’m in a wheelchair)Then once in the store we were looking for drum sets for my child and we were yelled at for trying the one drum set and were told they don’t mind us playing the other one though. Once my child was trying it as were deciding if we want to spend $500 in the store we were yelled at again for them to stop playing it! He said that’s why you buy it and take it home and practice my boss wants them to stop. Because of that I won’t spend a dime in that store! YOUR the reason kids would rather play video games than learn to play an instrument. She was so excited about the drums but when he yelled at her to stop he really upset her. My daughter is Autistic and doesn’t like to try new things so when she wanted to try something new I was all excited. It’s not a library it’s a music store if the kids can’t try it out how do you expect them to see if they want to play it? As a parent I’m not spending $500+ in your store if I can’t touch it. P.s. we were going to buy it as a gift and surprise her..... you lost a sale.

Absolutely great place to shop and try out gear. I have been a loyal fan of World Of Music for nearly 20 years now. The staff are awesome, when I come in (regardless if I buy or not) I am treated with respect and courtesy. After reading some of the negative reviews on here it seems like those reviewers are just upset they didnt get their way. I have never had a rude staff, my trade in values have always been fair or better and there selection of instruments is always great. They will work with you in a multitude of ways in order to get you what you want and help you out with payments, layaway etc. Its stores like this that deserve our support not your local mega-mart guitar center (shift labor employees and techs that have no technical experience). World of musics sales staff are outstanding and Tom (guitar tech) is the only guy that I will trust my babies too when I am not able to perform the service myself. Browsing or buying, these guys will go the extra mile to help you out. Just to note a reference from a previous review The expensive guitars are on the higher racks for a reason, would you want your child to grab your 3k+ PRS from the wall and drop it? No I dont think so. Want to play a specific guitar? Just ask. I couldnt tell you how many times I have had Mark, Adam, Rome or one of the other guys grab me down and Axe so I could jam out. Never once has anyone told me no. I truly hope this local treasure is around as long as me, simply great place to shop.

I actually did some research online first and then visited the store to see what they have in stock and found exactly what I needed. Steve showed us what our options are and explained the differences with each model and it made our choice easy as we came away with some great headphones. The surprising thing was that I would not have thought that they would carry these kinds of items, but found out that they offer more products than I realized. Its a great store with a great selection and a staff that knows exactly what you need and help you understand your purchase. You cant get that online and the prices are very competitive. Wonderful store. Clean, organized, and in general just fun to look around. You feel a fun vibe when you walk in the door with people playing instruments throughout the store. Please read this entirely. As a musician, Ive personally purchased many instruments here and have sent many friends to the store. Needless to say, I will not return. Recently I went in and met with an employee to view my instrument and see If he could help me sell it on eBay. I called the day prior and was instructed to come in. I was Very disappointed with how he communicated with me. Made me feel like my instrument was junk, and he stated we are here to sell instruments not show them. He didnt even play my instrument. He told me he could try to sell it for 30% commission but again made it clear It was more of a hassle than anything else. My instrument is worth a lot and I have had people show interest in it recently so that is posative. I appreciated this young mans time, but being kind will get you further in life and you never know who your talking to or how much that instrument means to some one. We all have a story. I am kind to every single person that crosses my path aspecially in my field of work. I am trying to simply show others how to be kind and hope for respect in return. Disappointed with staff communication. Dropped off a violin to be fixed on May 9th, was quoted $29 to repair and assured that they will call me if anything changes or to update me on the progress. The violin wasnt finished until June 27th for a cost of $77. Now the length of time isnt what upsets me, they could take as long as they want. It was the fact that I had to be the one to call them three times to see what the story was. The woman on the phone didnt seem like she knew what the repairman was doing, but would assure me well call you and let you know but as I said, never received one phone call until it was finished. No offense to the repair tech or the quality of workmanship, simply the lack of communication on WOMs part that was frustrating. Other than that, of course its a great store with a huge selection and knowledgeable staff. I bought my guitar here and had the action lowered and was happy with the work done to it (which is why I came back)... but this instance deserved to be noted for constructive feedback. Please keep the customer in mind with better communication.

World of Music happens to be the only music store in Erie that sells a variety of instruments. That being said, many of the guitars are guarded by the employees and whenever I do sit down and play I am watched like a hawk. It seems more like the employees are waiting for me to put the guitar back on the wall as opposed to actually purchasing the item. Additionally, I wish some of the sales associates would at least put in a modicum effort at matching a guitar to their customers style of music. I once had an associate confront me and ask what kind of music I like. I answered with rock and blues so the associate proceeded to grab an Ibanez with a Floyd Rose off of the wall and tune down to dropped D so he can show off his sick djent skills br0. I didnt even know what to do with myself so I just walked away. Also, the guitars everyone wants to play are higher on the wall than most people can reach. We are forced to ask the reluctant associates to grab a guitar so they can watch you like a hawk while you play At a low volume so they can hear in the phones. Also the prices are easily 20% higher than any other vendor because World of Music is going to make money regardless since theyre the only music store in Erie. Lower your prices and your guitars while youre at it.

The most unprofessional business ive ever experienced. i will not mention names, as my complaint is towards the majority of the staff...the staff has belittled me to other employees as well as guests in earshot of me. the majority of the staff have always been rude, and have generally a bad attitude towards me. they insult your taste, and actually are condescending in their interaction. watch out if you dont play a common style, as several of the staff have made fun of me numerous times when testing guitars, yet i would come back on a later date and observe the staff attempting to play what they were making fun of. the manager was always friendly, and listened to my complaints, yet the issues persisted, this must mean he was just humoring me, so i would assume that he must obviously be of the mindset of his staff. i understand erie is a small town, so not too many music stores, and this has to be one of the reasons for their arrogance, unprofessionalism and all that encompasses those terms. i would not recommend this business to anyone unless you were desperate and needed something asap(strings, etc).EDIT: Guitar Center just opened in Erie, and the staff is fantastic, my god, polar opposites of this WOM. i for one will be euphoric when WOM closes...its coming, and ill be there to celebrateUpdate: the new Guitar Center in erie is polar opposites of WOM, really, what a breathe of fresh air...hope the clock is ticking on WOMs closing

Alright, I understand Erie is a small town. So we dont have many music stores. Let alone instrument stores. But my experiences there are absolutely unacceptable. Last time I was there I asked one of the staff for the item I was looking for. And they completely insulted me for wanting said product. I was looking for Schecters Synyster Gates Custom guitar. The insulted the company Schecter and me for wanting said crappy item. Ive also had problems prior to that visit. Staff kept looking at me as if I did something. They also over price their products personally. On the used racks I saw a Schecter guitar. Not sure what it the specific guitar was. But they wanted $300-500 for it. The body was beat up unbelievably bad. One of the frets was sharp. And the pickups in the guitar claimed to be EMG. They were either fake or really crappy EMGs. Which I doubt. Either way, my point is that the staff insulted me and my taste for no reason. And I dont see myself going back there. Theyre unprofessional and just want to get a kick out of peoples taste. I would never recommend going there. Ever.

The only actual music store in all of Erie. They dont carry Gibsons unless someone brings in a used one, they keep all of the guitars worth playing 13 feet in the air, and there is one member of the staff named Mark, I believe. He has been the Bane of my existence for the last few years. They keep all of their CF Martins in a seperate room and he guards those things like they were his children. Im a loyal customer (kind of forced to be) Ive never caused any fuss at that store and yet he will not let me within 10 feet of the coveted Martin room. The other staff couldnt be any less helpful, either. The only ones who actually walk around and make sure everyones finding what they need are Mark and Adam Salaga, and Im giving you his last name because he is the single saving grace for that store. Whenever I buy anything there, I buy it through Adam. There was one other guy I really liked but he had the brains to quit. All of the staff are just plain rude. I remember asking if they carried pickups for electric guitars (which they dont) and this staff lady looked at me and said I dunno, what do I look like, a damn guitar expert? Bottom line, we need a Guitar Center. Rude staff, some pretty awful guitars, small selection...
