I started my BJJ journey with Jeff Serafin a million years ago when he was teaching at Evanston Boxing Club. He is an amazing coach and competitor himself. His instruction is very detailed and he is spot on in terms of technique. Eventually I moved to California and trained at a high level competition gym (Cobrinha), but would have never been able to make the transition without Jeffs initial instruction. When I had to move back to Chicago I joined Jeffs gym again. He has produced many world champions that compete at Pan Ams, Worlds, and other world class tournaments. The gym is open to weekend warriors and world champs and there is no ego. Also its a great place for female BJJ practitioners and competitors. Highly recommended for anyone looking for the best BJJ gym in the Chicago area.

Jeff is a great instructor and a great guy. Jeff takes the time to carefully plan out every class , encouraging everyone to be the best they can be. I am a purple belt and I live & train much further north, but I got to take a jiu jitsu vacation and train at Serafin this last weekend. Great instruction and awesome environment. I learned some new stuff and his team was fun to roll with. Highly recommended!

Every move is explained and broken down to the finest detail, and hes always ready to help if you have trouble understanding. I have been training here for two years, and I wish I had joined much, much earlier. Jeff is extremely skilled at both jiu jitsu and more importantly teaching (perhaps the hardest attribute to find). Classes are structured in a very approachable way. Both gi and nogi styles are taught. Beginners and black belts alike will learn solid technique here. The people training here have left their egos at the door and just love to learn, train and roll. Everyone is treated like family from day one. Highly, highly recommended!
