My 6 yo son is maturing and developing in so many ways from training at Team Lutter. The coaches are amazing and strike a balance between fun and discipline. It took about 5 classes for my son to settle in but once that happened, he went all in with his training. Now some of his closest friends are the kids he trains with.Team Lutter has made me into the ultimate helicopter parent with my head exploding with pride for my son’s hard work and accomplishments in Jiujitsu.I love the community element of Team Lutter and the vested interest that all the parents share for all the kids out there on the mat.I recently started training too. (As an older adult) The fitness element is next level and the Jiujitsu training is elite (which I am not). I’m over my head and on a steep learning curve but loving every class. I highly recommend team Lutter for children and adults.

I trained MMA here for about 6 months before injuries and work made it impossible to continue. Everyone here is super friendly and, like Will Ferrell says, ELE, everybody loves everybody. Being martial arts, it is a very respectful environment. Travis Lutter, the head coach, owns a legitimate BJJ black belt and brings his own wrestling style approach to the art as he personally teaches the advanced class. Every coach from coach Ben to coach Shug are extremely knowledgeable, watchful, and helpful in getting each member in shape and honing their skills to take them to new levels as a martial artist. It is not hard to find times to train for every schedule as there are classes all the way from 6am to 8pm. As far as skill level goes, you could potentially find yourself sparring with ranked UFC fighters in Muay Thai or IBJJF World Champions in Jiujitsu. The competition level is very high here and I look forward to continuing my membership in the future as health and schedule allow! #NeedToTrain

This is a great place to train. I have been here for 4 years and I can’t imagine any other place I’d rather roll. Training is tough and instructors are top notch. All upper belts are friendly and you can ask questions without feeling dumb. The friendships I have developed here are also a big reason why I keep coming back. It feels like a rather large family reunion walking into the gym. Everyone is excited to train. There are lots of upper belt women here as well which is also nice.

I’ve been training here for 6 years now and it’s still the best decision I’ve made regarding physical fitness, self defense, and mental health therapy. Travis Lutter is a world class and well respected coach who mentors and develops you to achieve whatever goals you may set for yourself; he doesn’t just give you his opinion, he also practices what he preaches and embraces the training with his students. When you join this gym you will be training in a great facility, learning top notch techniques, able to choose from a wide variety of class times, and gaining a great gym family (the kind that holds you accountable and picks you up when you’re down). Im posting this now because I was recently asked about this gym by a friend and I feel that others should be aware of what I have to say as well.On the quality side, this is a great gym. But I would like to caution anyone who is considering becoming a member. Im not familiar with the current practices, but when I signed up several years ago, I chose a one year membership. Instead of a typical gym contract, they used my drivers license number to take out a loan in my name for almost $2000, the full cost of the year. From there, you basically have payments automatically drafted from your account by a 3rd party company (Affiliated Acceptance Corporation at that time). They never explained this to me, and it actually showed up on my CREDIT REPORT.I would highly recommend that you either insist on a month to month plan, or find a different gym to study at. The owner will not let you out of the membership before the term has ended unless legally required to do so. I consider this to be rather sneaky, and for that reason I have rated what would otherwise be a 5 star gym at 2 stars.

I have nothing but good to say about this place. You will meet some really awesome people and get in shape. They really support you here and treat you like family. There is world class black belts that take the time to give you great instruction, even when you are hard headed and don’t listen to simple instructions like “don’t lay flat on your back, and get on your hip”. The best advice to give if you are new is leave your ego at the door when you come in. There are older men, children, and women that can make you feel like all those hours in the weight room were for nothing but it’s the most fun you will have and you will look forward to going to the next class.

And when it comes to the kids, he is the best coach, role model and teacher that we have ever seen. And we put 2 kids through little league, school athletics, band. Team Lutter is the warmest, most diverse, and challenging environment for anyone looking to compete or simply get into better shape. There is an option for literally any person regardless of experience or physical fitness level. Right off the bat, every single person is incredibly inviting and understanding; the only thing any one wants is to improve and watch their friends and teammates improve. The coaches have a passion that is incredibly contagious and couldnt be more hands-on and attentive to each individual regardless of how large the class is. It is perfect for children as well as adults - Benjamin Annunziato is so wonderful with children, and it shows in how much they love his class. It doesnt matter who you are or where you come from, the experience you will get training with Team Lutter will always be inviting, encouraging, and most of all, it will require the very best you can offer. It will make you a stronger, more disciplined, and more energetic person than you were before you started. They are tricky in there contract and do not disclose everything. The third party billing were extremely rude when I talked to them. They want their money weither you can use the program or not. Like one of the previous reviews said it is a pain to cancel your membership even if you only do the trial offer they offer. And they also said they had a 100% money back guarantee well that isnt entirely true either. Some of the instructors are good they explain whats going on and what you should and shouldnt do others expect you to already know the basics. That is how I got hurt there because they did not explain it to me when I started and they also did not explain it to a new member there and he ended up doing something that is not encouraged there and ended up injuring me. As far as the workouts there, well if your doing BJJ you dont really get a good workout, the actual grappling is hard and tiresome but you dont really work out before, a little warm up but nothing great. This gym has 2 locations and I found the instructor at the West Side Gym (Ben) is his name if Im not mistaken was the best! Ben did not allow me to participate in the more advanced classes until I took a couple of weeks in the basic and saw me progress. I took classes at both locations and he did explain the rules and moves you shouldnt do because you could hurt someone, the location on the East Side of Fort Worth not so good. If Ben were to open up his own gym I would definitely be a member but as long as he stays at the Travis Lutter gym I will not step foot in that gym! Oh yeah by the way, I got charged for months that I didnt even attend.

Jujitsu is my favorite class above all the classes offered at Team Lutter, and Im not just saying that because Im an instructor there. Before I began instructing I was doing as many jujitsu class as I could possibly do in one day to better my skills. The environment was great, I had a lot of help from so many different instructors and that helped me progress so quickly. The instructors do their best to make sure you understand every signal detail to help you do the moves that are being taught and also how to apply the move in a actual grappling situation. You wont find a tighter bond from a good group of people, pushing each other past our limits to overcome our challenges anywhere else. The culture that the instructors provide transfers down to the students because in my 19 months of training I have never heard a harsh word from anyone. What you may not know is that that is only half of what makes this school great. The other part of what makes this school great, and possibly the more important part, is the students. The training partners are some of the highest level Jiujitsu guys this state has to offer. I have trained at Lutter’s for over a decade now and it has been one of the single best choices I have made in my life. I have made great friends, have benefited from great technical instruction and improved my health immensely from when I started. The thing I really like about his school is that a belt REALLY means something here and has to be earned. I have trained at quite a few other schools during my career since I used to travel a lot for work, and would make it a point to find a local BJJ school to train at. I consistently noticed that whether it be a blue, purple or a brown belt, I always felt that the technical level and downright toughness of our students were at least on par usually better than other schools regardless of where they were. I couldn’t recommend this school highly enough.

Had an appointment with their front office last week and was seriously contemplating on joining until I looked into it more and read the fine print and other reviews.. Their whole payment system is IMO a little outrageous. At the end of the appt we talked about pricing and she gave me their best option of throwing down $1200 up front for the whole year which would amount to $100/month. Ok, seems a bit much for a gym and who throws that much money down for something that may or may not be for them? So then she gives me their next payment option $190/month!! are you kidding me? and not only that you have to sign a contract and be locked down for 12 MONTHS. I told her I would think about it and she acted like she was throwing me a bone when she told me about their 60 day money back guarantee, which looks good at first, but there is a lot of criteria to be met or the whole guarantee is VOID and your locked in for the rest of the year. The contract in itself barely mentions the guarantee and what it does mention is sketchy to begin with. The contract states that you must attend 18 CONSECUTIVE classes. Is this just some innocent poor wording..? What else is NOT mentioned in the contract is the fact that their billing company Affiliated Acceptance Corporation (AAC) reports to ALL three major credit bureaus (Transunion, Equifax, and Experian). So like it or not, youre going to have to pay them and abide by their terms for the remainder of your contract or you can walk away with damaged credit. I highly suggest that you with 100% certainty want to be part of this gym before you put the pen to paper!!!!!!!!

I have been a police officer for 20 years and really needed to find a place to teach me ground fighting and somewhere that I could get into better shape. I got waaaaay more than I bargained for with Team Lutter. I found a home with excellent instructors and members. I found a place where I can train and be part of a family. I quickly learned that Travis and the other instructors really care about you and your progress and will go out of their way to help you with your personal goals. I started with Team Lutter about four years ago and I have never once had any regrets. I had looked around at a lot of other gyms but once I did my research, I went with Travis. Its hard to argue the things that he has accomplished in his career. He was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter season 4 TV show and has had major fights in the UFC. He has qualified and fought several times in the ADDC and has won competitions all over the globe. I could not find anyone that even came close to his qualifications. The biggest thing is after I started I found that no matter how big Travis was in the MMA world he was never too important to stop and help me with any problem that I was having. I could go on and on about this gym, Travis, and the instructors but you get the idea. I went looking for a gym and found a family and home that I will never leave. Thanks Travis and keep up the good work.

My son has been attending classes at Travis Lutters gym for about a year. During this time, he has learned a lot about the art and the discipline of jiu jitsu. He has learned what it is to be a good teammate and partner. I cant put a value on what we as a family have gained from our son being a part of this gym. As others state, the atmosphere is that of a family - there really is a significant bond among the coaches and students. The coaches are incredible athletes and wonderfully gifted jiu jitsu practitioners; but they are better people. They care about the welfare of each and every student - irrespective of their age.We were looking for a jiu jitsu gym for our son but what we found has turned out to be so very much more and we are grateful to be a small part of this wonderful group of people.----Since my original post, I joined the gym myself. I am in the beginning phases of learning jiu jitsu and while extremely challenging this is tremendously rewarding. I have had more encouragement and help offered to me as a beginner than I would have imagined. I have a steep learning curve but I am supremely confident in the people and the atmosphere fostered here; I will reach my goals as long as I continue to train consistently. This is a great family and I recommend trying out a class and keep in mind the people aspect of learning jiu jitsu!I hope to see you on the mat!

In 2006 my youngest started kindergarten and I needed a new workout. I had been doing American Karate for 15 years and still loved it but wanted a change. A friend was telling me about BJJ and I found myself in Travis Lutters gym. It was a little intimidating when I first walked in, and the first few classes when I really didnt know what I was doing but everyone made me feel so welcome, and they all helped me learn a few moves. The instructors are all real nice and willing to put in extra time to work with anyone that has questions. My kids ended up joining and caught the jiu jitsu bug too. Dont think your too old, or too young. This is a sport for everyone and anyone. I am 49 years old and plan on training for the rest of my life. Travis and the other instructors helped my daughter feel confident enough to wrestle in High School and do very well. If you are looking for a full body workout, or just a fun hobby come check out Travis Lutter Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It will change your life!

When I decided to get back into martial arts, I knew of just 4 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts in DFW that I trusted for my training. Travis Lutter was my top choice. I started just 4 months ago, and I feel like a new person. Im slowly losing weight, and keeping it off, but Im gaining tons of strength and confidence. When people ask me why I participate in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, all I can say is, I love it! Ive trained in martial arts before, and I have never felt like I was included in something. At Travis Lutter, I feel like Im part of a family. I spent 10 years at a dojo and knew no one. 4 months at Travis Lutter, and I have people who care about me and want me to succeed not only in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu but also in life.5 months ago, I felt 43. Now, I feel like Im much younger. I try to train 4-5 days a week, and it is quickly becoming a passion now. Im learning from people who are older than I am, younger than I am, more experienced than I am, and who are as new as I am. Everyone leaves their egos behind when they step onto the mat at Travis Lutter, and they all respect that were learning and growing and are part of a team/family.Im just 10 pounds down, but Ive gone from a size XXL to a size M and feel like a new person. My colleagues are amazed at how different I look and act since I started at Travis Lutters school. I walk with confidence, and people have noticed.

Original instructor was great, then replaced by teenagers that looked bored and spent more time visiting with each other, than focusing on teaching the kids.Tried to cancel the membership and have been met with nothing but terrible customer service, excuses and hoops to jump through with their billing company which, by the way, will put tradelines on all three major credit bureaus (Equifax/Experien/TransUnion) and this is NOT disclosed on the enrollment agreement. Ive now paid them over $700 for months of unused service which they refuse to refund by any means other than offering more training to my 7 year old who has completely lost interest.Sign up at your own risk...

After returning home from the military I started looking for a way to keep my body in shape and release some stress. I walked into the Travis Lutter Gym and was welcomed by many people, everyone asking if I was going to join. Everyone was friendly to me and the camaraderie that was among everyone at the gym was so obvious that I signed up the same day. I have been a part of the gym for over three and half years and have been apart of Travis Lutter Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team for two and half years. Jiu-Jitsu has changed my life for the better: from the food I eat to how patient I have become dealing with everyday life. The coaches are great! They really care about everyones health; everyones goals and they will educate you on how to reach your goals. I highly recommended Travis Lutter to anyone, male or female, and all ages. Whether you just want to sweat a little or fight in the UFC, Team Lutter is where you want to be. I hope to see you on the mat and share this wonderful art that Travis has brought to our city.

Travis Lutter BJJ is an AWESOME place to train and learn Brazillian JuiJitsu I have been training BJJ for several years and more recently switched schools and started training with Travis. What I can tell you is there is NO drama, NO political bjj b.s and NO crazy belt/ stripe fees!!! What I like most about this school is the variety you get when it comes to instruction. There are several instructors (Travis included) with different styles ,body types and techniques all offering their expertise in improving your game and filling gaps. Again....This is a great place to train and I highly recommend it to anyone living in the DFW who is looking for a school!

Travis Lutter BJJ is one of the most professionally run organizations I have had the pleasure to be a part of. There is an opportunity for me to train every single day. Work does not give me many opportunites but Travis structures the schedule so that everyone can find days and times that will work. The best part of this school is the people. The black belts train with us and give us multiple views of techniques for all our different styles and backgrounds. This is an environment of respectful and dedicated Brazillian Jiu Jitsu practitioners. Travis BJJ is home to TXBJJ tournaments which can help you transition into competitions.* In house tournamnets* Kids, Beginner, Advanced, and Competition classes* Black belts teaching and training with you* Could you ask for more? There is something special happening right now at Travis Lutter BJJ. It is hard to explain but we have a great group of people training and you will look forward to coming to train, compete, hang out at fight night and lunches out after ranking day. Come be a part.
