Both of my children have attended One Room and though they are very different, they both have had the opportunity to thrive at this school due to the support and acceptance of their personal uniqueness. My childs VPK teacher has endless patience and understanding of childrens different skills and abilities. My older child had exceptional instruction here that set her up to attend and excel at magnet/Lyceum programs.Staff is always friendly and helpful and the year book rocks.

If I was able to rate this school a zero, I truly will. The ONLY person who I felt truly had any sense or a personality to work with children and their parents was my sons teacher. From the treatment to the consist calls of what I would of thought was life threatening while at work, it was no other decision to be made but to remove him in less than a week. Even after talking to the principal who was very non caring to my husband and I, I will never put my son through anything like this. Needless to say, if your child isnt perfect or better yet a CHILD than I suggest that you look further than this place. This whole experience still plays a toll on my son but Im truly thankful my husband and I have found somewhere that is filled with staff who actually care about children, understand kindergartners are FIVE years old (not adults), dont give up on children after a mistake and genuinely love their job.

If you are looking for a school that will give up on your child on their first encounter with the public/charter school system this is the school. The teacher cared for my child, but the staff did not give me the notion that they did. As for the after school program the director was the worst she did not understand children at all or how to handle them. They expect each child to be the same without any regards for common sense that each child is not the same. Children are expected to fend for themselves on their first day without any assistance from an authority figure. If you dont mind your child being graded throughout the day like some science project gaining and losing points for typical things such as getting out of line. I had heard many negative things about this school prior to enrolling my child and I ignored them, but I unfortunately had to find out the hard way. I ended up removing my child from this school after only 5 days which is unheard of, but he is now at a school that actually understands children especially Kindergartners.

ORSH is an excellent charter school with a strong family-community dynamic. Its not really just one room, but its about one classroom of students per grade. They offer lots of tutoring and extracurricular learning opportunities for students who need extra support. If your looking for a school where people really care and its possible to know everyone there, this is it.

Our experience here has been horrible. They have taken my intelligent, loving, curious, creative, happy little grandson and turned him into a sad little boy with self-esteem problems. Their staff, in particular his teacher Lilly, have no apparent interest in nurturing creativity, challenging kids academically or helping kids set and achieve goals. Instead she has relegated him to the back of the room near the door and ignored him. If she could have tied him up and duck-taped his mouth I am sure she would have. She has no clue how to deal with or help kids and in my opinion should choose a different line of work. Their communication with parents is less than adequate. We have had to call and email and practically beg for information concerning his progress. There is poor classroom and playground supervision. He got in trouble once for helping someone move a box just outside the classroom. How is it that she was not aware of his absence from the classroom for several minutes? What does she think will happen when she seats him right next to the back door and ignores him? The teacher hides behind her desk and is not engaged with the kids (or family). She humiliated my grandson in front of other kids and their parents by telling him he could not attend fun day after having sent home a permission slip the day before. When questioned, she said it was because of some vague, nebulous behavior problem (i.e., being a 6 year old boy) from the day before that she had neglected to mention to him or his parents!. He was in tears after having been looking forward to and excited about going and had to sit in an office all day while the other kids went to fun day.She even had the audacity to keep the requested fun day supplies brought in by his mom! I think she is passive-aggressive with kids she does not like. I even think she sets him up in situations that she knows will get him into trouble. The school does not the childrens best interests at heart which should be their main focus. I would NEVER recommend this poor excuse for a school to anyone. I will complain about it to anyone who will listen, and I hope they get shut down. These are my own opinions based on things I have seen there and personally been involved with.

My experience at The one Room School House has been good but also bad. It was good because we had an amazing principal and P.E coach. The bad part is the teachers where horrible they did nothing but argue with the students and deny everything they ask. My opinion is that you should not go to One Room.
