My daughter had to start here since Coastal Village was close down this year for 3rd graders and up. I drop her off at 6:45Am no student was there yet except teachers. Shortly after I Saw a teacher with a student. I ask can my daughter go in and she said no the school don’t open until 7am, everyone else must wait until they open the door yet the CHILD that she is holding hands with, who is also wearing the same uniform, who is about the same age gets to go in because he is her nephew. So BIAS! So UNFAIR! So UNPROFESSIONAL ! Exactly! You don’t want to leave your nephew who goes to this school as well out this early when the sun hasn’t even rise yet, so what makes you think a parent is ok to let her daughter wait out until 7am. I get it, it’s only 15 min but anything can happen within that time frame. Yes It’s only 15min, not like we are 30min or an hr early. And yes there’s only 15 min left until the school is open so why can’t your nephew wait out here just like every other student out here. WHY can’t that student follow the same guidelines? WHY does that child gets special treatment just because you work here? WHY can’t all student be treated the same? WHAT IF there was a shooting? Although my daughter knows better and is quite mature I still wants to make sure she is safe as a parent that’s my duty and I’m sure just as much as most. Of course at this point there’s more students waiting outside but since she can’t wait inside we waited in the car. I rather be late to work, since I see no other teachers no one to secure the student yet there’s bums walking and riding bikes near by.Secondly, school bus schedule is a joke! It says pick up Time is 6:35am but it’s really 6:20am. If no on comes at 6:20am you will miss the bus. The bus Drivers don’t wait for a sec at all. I’ve seen at least two students who miss it. Remind you it’s dark the sun is not even up yet. Another time on a rainy day, there was a student who almost missed it but me and another mom have to shout and wave for the driver to wait for this poor kid who was running. For my child even if she miss the bus I can still drop her off, however for other students who knows. Drop off time is also 15-20min off but that I can understand, there can be traffic and etc. As long as the students get drop off safely that’s what matters.
