Summary:I would not recommend ATP flight school. I went to the location in Georgetown, TX but my experience translates for every location.Overpriced, poor instruction, checkride busts. In depth:IF you are a natural at flying and if you study hard you may get through the whole program but you will most likely have one or more checkride busts by the time you finish.I asked several times before joining and early in my training if students ever get kicked out and why. ATPs forum and the people at the school told me it was rare and it was usually the students fault for not studying. This isnt true.I studied a ton and passed everything academically. However, I struggled to pick up the flying skills and coordination needed. My instructor had me practice in the pattern over and over again saying that Id have time to learn maneuvers later. He had me practice landing to pass a landing eval. Ive since learned that the maneuvers are what teach a student the physical skills necessary for the traffic pattern and landing. I eventually failed my solo eval twice and was kicked out. The location manager was not upfront about how many flights I would be able to practice before trying again. The answer is 2. To be honest, I wish I hadve been kicked out sooner. I paid $14,000 and never even soloed. At a nearby school you can get a private license with 60 flight hours for around $8,000.My CFI was an ATP grad. He didnt understand that teaching maneuvers prepares students for the traffic pattern. He also had a student checkride pass rate of 50%. If you have more than 2 checkride busts on your record it hurts your chances of ever being hired by a major airline (the whole point of going to ATP in the first place). The program has 6 certificates. That means 3 checkride failures. He wasnt the only CFI with that kind of record.Another thing that adds to student checkride busts is ATPs stinginess with hours. They push you through in the bare minimum of hours. Then if youve flown all of your allotted hours and the weather is bad or the designated pilot examiners are not available for a month, you sit around and get rusty before your checkride, hurting your chances of success. They charge ridiculous rates for hours in an Archer or 172. You can get twice as many hours at a different school with experienced instructors for the same price or easily come out ahead on price. I could have done all of my training cheaper in a Cirrus at a nearby school, or had some fun flying a 172 all round the country. They also guarantee a job if you make it through the whole program and CFI school. But they had more graduates than job openings so theyve been making it harder and harder to get through CFI school. They also dont guarantee how long youll have that job.The one thing I loved about ATP was having so many other students and instructors around. Everyone was really friendly and helpful, as are the students and staff at my current school. You could do endless grounds and there was always someone to talk to if you didnt understand a concept. However, at another school you can use the money you save from cheaper flights and pay for one-on-one grounds or you can start a study group for the same effect. The planes were very nice and well maintained. At my location most of the planes were practically brand new. But if youre a student, you dont need a new plane, just a safe plane.Dont waste your money, go somewhere else.

Last place you would ever want to train. They pay the instructors a pittance and the completely gouge their students for every dime. Rediculous rates.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would.I am a military airlift pilot. I paid for the ATP certificate training (10 hr program). The training in the Seminole was average (I felt safe in the plane). Their instructors did not take the training seriously and any success was a result of students hard work. There was minimal discussion about aircraft systems. There was even less discussion on how the the checkride would go with their go-to DPE.I was unable to finish my checkride. The company was non responsive to follow up inquiries and requests. Even communicating directly with the CFI was worthless. I ended up finishing my checkride through a completely different flight school.
