As a pilot (and A&P) with upwards of 3K hours (in more than 20 different type aircraft) and working with many flight schools across the country, I would say that Angel Aviation is a very good FBO. I have been flying with Angel Aviation for about 2 years now, the instructors and the aircraft are very good. The maintenance staff keeps the planes in top notch condition. I have never had any issue with any plane at Angel Aviation. I shopped around every flight school in Phoenix, and am glad I picked Angel Aviation as a home base FBO. I would also add that Paul Miller is an outstanding instructor and communicator; you won’t find a better pilot to train with. Finally, I will point out the owners I have met and dealt with are great people and run a very good FBO. If you are looking to get in to flying, give them chance to earn your trust.
I read previous reviews and I’m not sure how they could have issues or a bad experience here but mine was great. I time built with one of their Seneca 2s for my MEI. I enjoyed my time with them and the flying. There has definitely been some good memories flying here! I would love to see their operation up in Alaska as it’s 4 times bigger. I will also say the owners are extremely customer based and I was impressed how nice they are. They have some of the most affordable aircraft for rent this side of the Mississippi.
Unfortunately, Angel Aviation is known for its poor safety records. Just the past month, it had 2 crashes - one of which led to fatalities.
You will get milked for $$$ if Potatohead Zach is your instructor. The guy dozed off during multiple lessons in the plane, and it freaked me out. His eyes were totally shut. There was one time when I literally said “Zach” and then he snapped out of it. Please, for safety sakes…stay away
Wish I could give zero stars. Attending this flight school has left me broke and alone.
Dont waste you money i take lessons here 2 years ago the main instructor dozes off while flying w you and bills for ground training that never occurs
Pathetic. Like that other comment said Zack the owner and instructor pads ground time and charges you for nothing there was a time the plane had no fuel so he called the fuel truck which took 45 minutes and he charged me $60/hour while waiting even though we were both on our phones the whole time. Plus I caught Zack sleeping on a flight lesson with me which was scary because I was just a 15 hour student pilot then
Number 1 worst rated flight school in the area. Owner Zach has a slight hillbilly drawl to him. Dips while talking to customers and spits it in his monster can. gross and unprofessional
Horrible. Stay away. Too many people complain the owner, Zachary Merrill, is a jerk and they’re right. How he’s still in business is beyond me
This place is the worst take your business elsewhere
Best flight school in the area hands down. The rates are fair and the instructors are amazing. I wouldnt want to fly anywhere else. Thank you paul for the quality time you have offered during my flight training.Jordan.
Angel Aviation is a fantastic, small flight school. They have a handful of remarkably well kept and cleaned planes and cheaper rates for Cessnas than I was able to find anywhere else in Phoenix. Zach, my flight instructor, is a great human being who genuinely loves teaching people how to fly. After leaving another school at the Glendale airport with some very misleading billing practices, I was damn happy to find such a straight up, tightly run flight school and finished out my Private Pilots License here. 10/10. I absolutely, positively recommend this school to anyone in the process of gaining wings. Thank you guys!
I visited once before, and the owner lied to my face by saying he had close to 1,000 checkride sign-offs...LIAR!!!
Owner steals money from customers when given the opportunity.
I have earned my ratings at 3 different flight schools and by far Angel Aviation was the best. Family owned and operated. Very personable, friendly and they really care about their business. I would recommend Angel Aviation to anyone!
I reached out December 3rd with a request to meet with an instructor for a quick conference on lessons since I have completed my written and medical for PPL. I was given an email back from Jason that said Not sure you can get done in 30 days. I replied, I am not looking for an accelerated course. He apologized and told me that someone would contact me. I left a voicemail on December 20th requesting a meeting time again. No answer back. On January 6th I sent Jason an email back telling him I still have not received any reply. Here it is January 7th, and still not even the courtesy of any reply. So I am not going to beg to be someones customer. I have just secured lessons with another company who actually appreciated my business.
