Very disappointed in the Glendale / Peoria facility..on 59th ave.Over the years it has steadily gone done hill..Equipment pads are torn cause snags on my clothing and abrasions on my skin. Staff unresponsive to comments.Treadmills dont work 50% of the time...have to more from machine to machine to find one that works. Staff unresponsive.TVs...only liberal channels....staff unresponsive. Some machines have loose parts that I tighten from time to time - staff unresponsive.Restrooms are clean...facility is clean...Child care is very well organized and responsive to kids. They raise rates without notice...When you call they say its posted at the facility...I havent been there for a few months. Holidays you know.We dont give them our email as the inundate us with newsletters and other stuff. So, we dont know about rate increase as they are paperless you know..When calling about rate increases they are VERY RUDE - especially ASHLEY the SR Program administrator...and thats the way it is...we can change the rates at will...I beg your pardon....Its not our fault you wont give us your email address...well, it is your fault that I am canceling our Y member ship of 32 years!!!!Who can we complain to above you...no one Im as high as you can go...Well, Ashley...good bye...

The Y is a fantatic place for family and friends. The facilities are great! Programs, camps, clubs, are all a great place. The staff is so friendly and professional. My daughter participated in her first basketball league and had a great time. Look forward to the great work the Y continues to provide.

I come to this YMCA through the week. I have been a member since 2005. Today I go in today to workout and. I havent paid my January installment. I ask if I can pay later, the lady at the counter wasnt sure, after trying for a few minutes to set up payment with my spouse who was at work, I did not feel like working out . If Planet Fitness lets me work out for free right now Im switching.

I needed to find a place to take my daughter to for one week, that is all. I have heard of the YMCA, I decided to give it a shot. The staff is friendly. The facility seems clean, however, I am disappointed and they have a major lack of communication.I had submitted some basic information online to be contacted on a Wednesday, and I was contacted the next day. Tony, the director of this location called me. He was friendly, and gave me an over view of what was offered there, I let him know I would be in later that day to get her signed up. He let me know I would need to fill out some paper work, which I expected. When I got to this facility that evening, the staff seemed helpful but wasnt really listening to my needs. I explained to them what I was enrolling my daughter for, they gave me paperwork, I filled it out while i was there, and learned that I needed to provide vaccine records, not a big deal but wish Tony had expressed that on the phone to me. Once I finished the paperwork and handed it to the staff they then realized that I was enrolling for a different program and had to fill out a different packet. After I got the correct paperwork signed, the fee was correct, but there was a fee no one explained to me until payment, which was for a T-Shirt to be worn on field trips, again, just wish Tony had told me about this on the phone. After all was signed up, I asked what days her field trips were, so I could make sure to have her in the shirt. They told me I would get all the details her first Monday. Great.Monday came. Got her to YMCA, signed in and in the morning room. Then I get all the papers for the week of the activities each day and what was needed to bring, wish they gave me to these 3 days earlier when I had enrolled her, because she needed a swimming suit, water and towel on the day I dropped her off. I had to go home to get these items and bring them back, making me over 30 minutes late to work.Tuesday comes. Check the list before going to the Y, and she has all that is needed, so I thought. We get there, and find out that she could have gotten snacks at the field trip but it required cash for the day. I did not have cash on me, and was not able to run and get cash before work to get to my daughter. Again, not informed of something she needed, and was not on their information sheet for the week.I havent finished out the week, but i really hope everyday doesnt go like this. And I really hope that my daughters care is better than the lack of communication being given to me.

Excellent Place for Kids to have fun and learn. Their staff is really friendly and they make a positive impact on all the children that play sports there. I have three kids. All have been in different sports and they learned a lot from each coach and they enjoy the staff their as well. The one person that complained about the mishandling of her child, I have seen nothing like that at all and my three kids, in different areas at times have nothing but great things to say about the staff they come in contact with. Thank you Glendale/ Peoria YMCA for your contribution to our community and my family!

THE worst YMCA I have been to ! Took my daughter for a swim class. Actual instructor was no where to be found. They found an instructor at the last minute who was very condescending and to top it all, my daughter got acute otitis externa after just one class. Not sure if the swimming pool waters are clean. I wanted to cancel the membership but they wouldnt cancel it without charging a months worth membership fee in the name of 30 day notice. In short, there goes my $200 down the drain.

This location is staffed by mostly kids (late teens, Im guessing ) with poor attitudes. Some were friendly. Most were standoffish and patronizing. The boys particularly seemed to have big chip on their shoulders. Im old enough to be these kids father and can do without the condescension, thank you.

They dont have indoor practice for basketball during 117 degree weather in AZ, Therefore we missed Lot of practice. Never know when the games are for parent can take off work. Have to drive 25 min to get cancellation paperwork to cancel with them. No one there really knows what they are doing. I will never take my boys back there again. Gym is open for only an hour to play indoors. Being a single parent it took a lot of money from me. And they both lost almost all their games. ugh..

This Y was the worst place I have yet to go too. Absolutely the worst place for children or any family. The fitness center is boring (no music, couple of TVs of the news) other than that it was alright. The classes they offer are horrible. Its basically for the senior citizens. the children centers they offer were extremely restricted and they close at 11 all the way through 5. then we go to the pool and after 20 minutes they kicked us out, said a swim club needed the pool. AND me personally had to get out immediately because my shirt was cotton. then we go to the gym and their are 30 middle aged men so children obviously cant play there, so I take them to the other half of the gym where its filled with toys and many children their age, when they kick us out AGAIN. they drag my daughter out with her arms and threw the ball out of her hands. so I then go to the office and ask them if all the children centers are closed and the pool and gym are basically VIP only, where are my kids supposed to go?? they didnt say a word. AND youre membership is forced for at least 2 months. OVER ALL: if you are not a senior citizen & you dont feel like paying an EXTRA 30$ a month per child for a club (thats over 90$ so far) GO TO RIO VISTA or the GLENDALE RECREATION CENTER. this place is ghetto and disgusting. I gave them my notice after the first day. its a scam. (also be careful going into the locker rooms, theres more senior citizens there than anything and they all shower there EWWWW)

Be aware that open gyms are on select days.when the YMCA teams use the gym they only use one side and nobody else can use the other side.with the money your paying here its ridiculous that the gym isnt available all the time.not even one side can be used when the YMCA teams are using it.when there was a open volleyball gym and no one was in there the staff would not allow me and my son to play basketball.they wouldnt even allow us to use one side of the gym or even bring one hoop down.Unless you just want to work out then this is the place for you.

I am extremely disappointed in the YMCA. I signed my kids up for swimming lessons for the summer. The swimming instructors are hardly ever on time. There is only a 40 minute opening for the lessons and many times the instructors are 10 to 15 minutes late. They dont even continue at the end to make up for the loss of time. On top of that the kids are learning how to swim in 2 feet of water. They just play around and walk along the bottom of the pool and the instructors dont incurage otherwise. On an other issue I decided that the lessons are just a waste of money, and decided to put my kids into private lessons. Being a low income house hold I was informed by a few different employees that we could use the scholarship for private swimming lessons. When I went to sign my kids up all of a sudden I am only then being told that the scholarship cant go towards the private lessons. The YMCA does not communicate with their employees. They have no professionalism, or disaplin among there employees. They all have a bad attitude, and treat there guests horable, and are extremely rude.Dont waste your time or your money!
