The Dr.s/Surgeons and Student Dr.s here are amazing! They clearly went above and beyond for our German Shepherd, who is the love of our life! Hit by a car, Midwestern University doctors and staff assisted us with our many needs with regard to our Shepherd, which is injuries were quite severe. Theyre innovative research and therapy along with the surgeries have brought drastic positive change for our pet, thus helping him to save his limbs. I salute the staff of Midwestern University Animal Health Institute. I recommend this institute to all pet owners, pet lovers, and those in need of aggressive attention for their pet.

I just wanted to say thank you. It was a sad moment for us. It was time for Our Osa. It was an emotional time for us I didnt get the names of the vet or her assistant. They were so compassionate. I called when my vet didnt return my call. And was told to come right away. We were given a private room with a garden. Osa was stressed and actually went into the garden. We all sat on the floor on a blanket. Thank you for helping us get through. They even sent a card with condolences. She passed peacefully I cant express my gratitude enough.

I have been bringing my fur baby in here on a regular basis since she had emergency back surgery in February; the students and staff are super sweet, patient and very knowledgeable! My pup used to hate going to vets, but whenever I arrive for an appointment, my dog gets so excited and looks forward to every visit. She just started her first water therapy session today to help her with her arthritis and weight-loss, and her therapist (Erica) was extremely sweet and patient with her because she gets really nervous and anxious around water.Every staff member, student and vet/instructor has been extremely crucial in her care and recovery; I dont know where I would be without these wonderful people! They are very affordable (compared to many other options) and provide excellent care. It is apparent that everyone at this facility really cares and puts your animal first.

Our dog got into and ate a fly trap. They told my daughter she had to call animal poison control before they would see our dog. She did and then took him to see them per their instructions and per poison control saying get to get immediately. To which they said when she got there l, she had to take him to 24/7 animal hospital in case he needed overnight observation. If you were going to recommend that why waste time with making us jump through hoops! We bring 4 animals to them and our dog Elvis who is the one who ate the fly trap and they always let the students come and look at him and stuff can’t even get real care when he actually needs it!

My dog Luke and I have loved this place! This was the third clinic I took him to before this place gave him the care he needed. My little dude is a bit anxious and they were always super kind and patient with him. And over time hed go through the front door without me having to lure him in.The student veterinarians here were great and the veterinarian that oversaw them was great too. Sometimes it was a little hard to get through to the front desk, but they were very helpful and I think the delays were mainly due to the quality of their care keeping them busy with many, many puppers. I moved to Tempe so I transferred to a different clinic, but I just want to take a moment to thank the students and staff here for helping my little dude through some hard times. Luke and I really appreciate it. Thank you!

Unless your pet has been hit by a car or mauled by another animal, dont waste your time with an emergency visit at Midwestern. My very ill dog, obviously in pain was rushed in...a student did the preliminary exam and since his vitals (seriously, he cant walk!) were relatively normal, and the symptoms just presented today, so he seems okay....no tests, no bloodwork and, as far as I can determine, no actual doctor involved. Dont waste your precious time with your sick pet or your money.

I will not say anything about their professionalism - they were very pleasant - but I will warn you:DO NOT bring your animal in here for their examination without first asking what they charge for standard, suggested vaccinations and other procedures. They are significantly more expensive than what Ive experienced going to other clinics.I should have asked first rather than just assuming that it would have been reasonable or less expensive than the local vets.I left paying almost 100.00 for a superficial, preliminary examination of my two kittens with really nothing to show for it. I knew they looked healthy when I brought them in. I was essentially told that they look healthy.Gee thanks.

I used to love this place. However , their prices have skyrocketed. It’s supposed to be a teaching facility so you pay less but it thorough. What has happened over the past few years is you pay more , a lot more! just like a vets office and you wait multiple hours as well. I’ve also had two animals that have gone into the emergency clinic and not come out. They state that emergency takes exotic pets but they have no vets for exotic pets (rabbit) so please beware. I have since gone to a new vet and it’s unfortunate as I really thought this was a great place for my animals. I no longer feel that this is the best care or the fairest pricing. PLEASE read the reviews below as this facility has definitely gone down hill. The review where they reported someone is alarming !!! I didn’t share details , however , my last experience was down right creepy .

I have been taking my furry kids and my familys furry kids ( 10 dogs total) to this place since August 2017. This animal clinic is incredible. I love all vets working (especially Dr. Patricia Bennett and Dr. Robbins) and the all the doctor students Ive been seeing recently are AMAZING!! They are very committed take care of your pets. I also respect and appreciate the front desk staff (their work doesnt always get noted in reviews and people tend to forget how caring and kind they are) and how hard they work to schedule your pet in for an appointment. I have been taking my furry kids and my familys furry kids (total 10 doggies) to this place since August 2017. They are great about giving estimates prior to doing any work. They also are good at only doing/charging for medical that is absolutely necessary for your pets. Its so difficult to find a place that cares more about the health of your furry kids. The wait is sometimes a little bit too long but you always get the best knowledgeable folks and their students review your pets health. THANK YOU for everything you do for us.

We have taken our dog here three times. First two visits were EXCELLENT! This review is only regarding our visit yesterday, 5-15-19 with Ashley. We were very disappointed with her. She didnt seem to want to hear much about our dog. Everything was in comparison to HER dog and how SHE trains HER dog. We werent there for training! We were there for yearly checkup and severe anxiety issues. She was full of judgement and she didnt try to hide it at all! Once my husband left to go back to work, she told me that THEY dont feel as though I should bring my dog back. I should find another vet for any further services. Also that she doesnt approve of the shock collar we use. Its NOT A SHOCK COLLAR!! Its a device called, Dog Care, it sends a buzzing/vibration to the collar. It does NOT hurt him and is the BEST thing we have tried(we have tried everything!). Mind you, it was not even used while there for the visit. So, after everything was done and we were meeting the doctor and finishing up Ashley starts reading the discharge papers, turns to me and says I guess we can keep seeing him. I guess she had to say that because the vet told me how good he was even wrote that on the paperwork. The other student also proceeded to tell me how he just walked up to everyone in the back wanting love and he was really sweet. I left feeling very confused. Is my dog allowed back or is he banned? We loved going to Midwestern but I guess we cant any more. We really loved our first two visits, I have recommended them to everyone I know. Im really bothered by our visit yesterday, just cant seem to shake off the way we were treated and judged by Ashley.

I took my dog in for urgent care here. He felt abnormally warm to the touch, extremely lethargic, dry heaving, shaking, rapid breathing, etc. They got me in quickly, which was great, but things went downhill from there. The person taking patient history asked the same questions multiple times and wasnt really listening to my answers. The vet seemed to ignore half of the signs I reported and after racking up over $500, came up with a diagnosis of acid reflux...The next day, I took him to a different vet, who looked at the same signs and test results in about 20 minutes, and thought pancreatitis was a possibility. He did another blood test and confirmed it as pancreatitis.

I have always had a pleasant experience at the midwestern animal clinic up until early this month. My dogs had gotten tangled up, and and long story short one of my babies had passed because of being tangled and I was absolutely devastated. Once they were untangled I noticed the mouth of the survivor was bleeding due to being stuck on the other’s collar. I took care of him the best I could for two days before deciding to go to the clinic. The assistant vet was very nice, however the main doctor didn’t do anything but say his wound will heal over time, nor did he give advise on how to take care of it. He proceeded to say “He’s doing good despite being a puppy murderer” . I was Too torn over the incident to say anything. Obviously my dog had no intention on hurting his daughter, they were inseparable. I left feeling upset, displeased and short $100 from the visit. I an truly grateful for what this clinic has helped me with in the past, however after this encounter I do not think I will be returning in fear of further insensitivity.

I took my dog here for a 2nd opinion regarding a few issues shes been having. The moment I walked in the door I was greeted by very friendly and cheerful staff, verified my demographics and than had me take a seat. I filled out a few pages of paperwork, all in all took less than 10 minutes. My appointment was at 3:30pm I was taken back a few minutes earlier. The tech/ student and Dr. Thomas were very friendly, compassionate and respectful, took down my dogs history and went over helpful treatments. I received a call the next day about 1 part of the test results and it was explained to me. It was great news compared to what the previous vet had told me. Still waiting for a couple other tests to come back but overall I am thrilled I brought her here. They are so wonderful. You get an estimate of what treatment will cost and you can pick and choose to have it done or not. I like that very much I felt more comfortable to have treatment done here than at the other facility.Cannot wait to take her back for her teeth cleaning. I spent less on all the treatment thus far than what I would have at the other vet, although its expensive taking any pet to a vet its affordable and they do take care credit. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

I am so glad I found this animal clinic. Im sure there are many many good vets, but none seem to be as thorough as the staff and students here. I have recently put my dog to sleep and I did so under duress but the history of my dear old dog was reviewed and they would not have let this happen without consulting with other vets and looking over the health history of my pet. The card afterward, the lovely garden near the euthanasia room were all so appreciated. I will not hesitate to bring my future friend here for care after I have given myself time to grieve for my sweet old friend.

Office staff was pleasant.Clinic has no check-in, preliminary screening procedure other than bombarding you with a ton of questions that couldve been taken care prior to the appointment, saving over 30 minutes of time.Clinic took over 2 hours to fulfill basic check-up appointment w/2 shots administered.Vet student took dog after preliminary exam to have services performed, and walked back and forth 3 times (totalling over an hour of wasted time, between our little closed room and an unknown location we werent allowed to go) to have simple questions answered, which notably disturbed our pet, you could tell with each visit, the animal became more and more distressed. Questions that couldve been easily asked prior to the appointment, that wouldve greatly streamlined this entire over complicated endeavor. Finally, after waiting a sum of 2 entire hours, we demanded they finish so we can leave.A few minutes later the veterinarian came by and said, and I quote, Hi. I HAD to come by to say hi. Your dog is fine, have a nice day.. She had to come by?This place sucks, Im never bringing my animal back. The staff is out of their element, slow to respond to questions, indecisive, poor communicators, and apparently, dont understand that we dont have all day to sit around, while they walk our animals.

Very disappointing, first and foremost, I spent over 5 1/2 hours there, for one appointment that should have taken no longer than 2 hours on the worst day, we just wanted to see what was wrong. They tried telling us to hospitalize our puppy immediately (underweight) we highly considered, until we found out that we could not afford it. So we spent $700 for some testing and medication, instead of their outrageous pricing to keep him there and do what they wanted to do to him. The next day we have animalControl (police) banging at my door trying to take my puppy from me. The reason they came was because, we “are being cruel to our dog”. Midwestern if we did not care about my puppy, why would I waste away a whole day and $700 to try and heal my dog. They also want to charge us about another $300 to run more test next week. I feel hurt, disappointed, angry, and betrayed. I have been going to midwestern university for years (normal doctor, eyes, dental) and never, have I been treated so horrible. Doctor Lori, how can you say you’re trying to help, by taking our puppy away, one day you saw us crying in your room, just for seeing our dog hurt. This is absolutely insulting.

I have usually had pretty good care and service here. However, just last week I had a terrible experience with a receptionist named Miranda, which was so bad we will never go here again. My 15 yr old cat who already had Cerebellar Hypoplasia and GI lymphoma in remission, suddenly could not walk a few days prior to me calling.Miranda started off very pleasant. All I said was that I would like to make an appointment for my cat with neurology. Right after I said this she immediately changed her tone and said, Well, whats going on with your cat that you think you need an appointment with neurology??. She said this in the most insulting, judgmental tone, like how dare you ask for a neuro appt. I explained how my cat was wobbly normally, but suddenly could completely not walk a few days ago. She said Well, I STRONGLY recommend you take him to our urgent care. I told her that I had already taken him for emergency care to my primary vet in Surprise for the past few days since it had happened. I would like a neuro appt since after all they had done for him, they did not find a cause yet. She repeated that she STRONGLY recommends I take him to their urgent care.I understand why she was saying this, since cats with heart issues can throw a clot and its an emergency and extremely painful. However, it was insulting that she just assumed that I had not been taking him for emergency care to be checked for this, and that he was not stable before calling them for this appt. I again told her this, and at this point my voice was shaking, since I realized she did not believe me. She assumed my cat had just stopped walking and I was immediately calling for a neuro consult. This was so extremely insulting to me considering all I had done for my cat the few days prior (xrays, ER ultrasound, complete senior bloodwork, diabetes check, IV fluids while staying at our veterinarian all day during the days with a tech by him at all times, Sub Q fluids at home (since my vet is not 24 hours), pain meds, ER appt scheduled at his oncologist, and ER appt scheduled with a cardiologist in the next few days. I told her I didnt expect an ER neuro consult because I knew how long they book out, but wanted it scheduled just to have it in case he pulls through, and because they were not finding anything else that would cause this at his primary vet. She was silent for several moments then told me to have all of my ER records emailed to them at her attention for Dr. Evans in neurology. And that she would talk to him and see if he would see my cat any sooner.I really appreciated her doing this. I thanked her and had my primary vet email the records when they could. They were extremely busy that day, so I think it did take awhile for them to send them. I still had no expectation to get an immediate appt with Midwestern Neurology, but was thankful that she was going to ask. Ive waited a little over a week now and have received no call back from Miranda or Midwestern University Animal Clinic. To say Im completely disappointed and insulted in their customer service is an understatement. Even if she did not want to deal with me or this situation again, someone else should have called me to tell me they could not get my cat in, or that they straight up preferred not to see him. At the very least, I would have liked Miranda, or someone, make an appt for my cat for a consult, even if it were 3 weeks out, which is what I originally wanted anyway. At this point it would only be a couple of weeks away, and my cat is STILL stable and alive through continued supportive care at home and through our primary vet. To be so immediately judged by one of their receptionists who thought we were doing no ER care, and then never even call us back is ridiculous and also extremely disrespectful. Reception is the frontline of their organization and my husband and I will be telling everyone about our awful experience and complete lack of respect and care. We will be taking our cat to the Vet Neuro Center in Phoenix instead.

They helped her dog with an ongoing problem that Banfield couldnt diagnose after numerous visits. Dr. Robbins diagnosed the issue within one visit.I took my dog to get a behavioral analysis and was absolutely amazed. This place is like Mayo Clinic for dogs and the people actually care and want to help your animals. When I spoke to the vet, she evaluated my dog and actually gave me answers as to why he behaves the way he does and recommended I speak to a dog behaviorist, not a trainer unlike Banfield kept recommending. Plus they gave him a complete check up (which I was not even expecting).
