I attended Karate Built for years. I earned my 3rd degree black belt and trained to become an instructor. I now teach my own students with the skills and lessons I learned at Karate Built. I still have a great friendship with the owners and they welcome my students into their classes whenever I need to close for seasonal breaks. I can’t believe some of the comments that people are leaving on here about where I trained. It’s martial arts people, it’s supposed to be strict and difficult. Perseverance is one of the greatest life lessons I learned here. When I didn’t want to go to class because it was hard, or scary, or tiring, my parents made me go and you know what? I’m a better person now because I went. Yes, the price is steep and once you sign up you’re locked in for the long haul, but isn’t it worth it to make sure your child learns how to finish things that they start? (College, Trade School, Projects)Karate Built will make your child someone you can be even more proud of than you already are and someone that will be able to defend themself. Send your kids here.

My sons and I could not be happier with this Academy!! Mr. & Mrs. Flees are wonderful support for parents in the community to teach safety, confidence, self-discipline & respect. This is so much more than just martial arts classes and well worth it. For those people who are saying they have not treated people fairly when it comes to tuition you must be missing something. If an emergency has come up and i cant afford it they have ALWAYS been willing to work with me on it and as a single mom of 2 boys that makes a huge difference. Just speak with them and you will see.

I am the father of the 10y/o who grand father was turned away. The mom doesnt participate in her sons extra curricular activities. So yes the school will turn away people who they dont know. No matter age, race or creed. She is the daughter of said grand father. This is a perfect example of a martial arts studio showing member safety. It will be a year in April our child has gotten 3 different belts. Mom hasnt attended 1 testing cycle. So if you never come to verify who you are Flees ATA has no choice but to follow protocol. To all who complain about money or what they charge, say no! I could not afford the starter but Fleece worked with me. Actually let me name the price. Fleece also has many payment plan options. You would be doing your child an injustice by signing them up for less than a year. Fleece also have a Groupon to try them out. I love it I recommend them.

This place is pathetic. These people are supposed to be karate black belt masters that teach the students there, yet when my 10yo son invited his grandfather to come and watch his class from the viewing area he was turned away and told that is not allowed for the safety of the students. So even though they tell parents that these classes will teach the kids confidence and self-defense they themselves dont feel confident in their OWN ability to protect the students from an elderly grandfather. What a joke, cant wait to get my son out of this school!!

Dont go here! This place is the complete opposite of what they preach. Its a scam and all they are after is your money, not interested in building strong character in children. My son was 8 at the time we started here and we got the full sales pitch of how this would instill strong character and focus. After 6 months my son cried every day he had to go. He was repeatedly picked on by instructors in front of the class and dreaded every session. The place is chaotic and loud with instructors yelling at kids and thinking the students can actually learn when no one is able to follow instruction for new and experienced students all thrown together. When I reached out to the owner to discuss the matter and explain why we would not continue with the program, he never once returned my calls. Now, instead of addressing the issues with his staff, he has turned the account over to collections. The most horrible experience with a business owner I have ever had. If I could give no stars I definitely would!

This place tricked my friend into signing not one but two year long contracts! That you could not get out of! They totaled over 10,000 dollars. My friend got depressed and didnt want to go anymore. But for 10 months they made him keep paying. Only towards the very end did i think they might of gave him a slight discount! May God shut you down! Evil everywhere! So please help by not going! That would make them lose the 10,000 they stole!!

When I signed my daughter up for classes, I was told $117 a month for 50 minutes of training twice a week. When she actually started class, it turned out to be only 30 minutes and after one week they tried up selling me to a leadership program promising more attention than the other students for $177 a month for an hour of class plus another $177 registration fee (after I paid $100 to register on top of the monthly fees already). Worst part, is that when we decided it wasnt for us even though she had only been to class 3 times, a little over a week-- nothing was refunded even though it was supposed to be a 30 day trial period. A dirty feeling was left in my mouth for something that is supposed to be fun. It is clear that business and profit are more important than integrity and respect, the very thing they are supposed to be teaching the students. STAY AWAY.

We won 2 months of free lessons at the dvos kids and family expo. We went twice then they gave us the sales pitch....They tried pressuring us into sighing a contract that would cost us 400/month for 2 small kids, and that was after some $800 savings they were offering. when we said we were not interested we were told if they wanted to continue there Free lessons we have to by a $40 uniform for each kid....They seem to make a big deal about promoting great character and integrity in there students but then tried to pressure us into signing a contract, What a terrible experience.

Total joke!! All they want to do is Badger you into the next program(more money) for the first 30 days of you joining, and what do you get for 117$ a month? someone who shows up late to teach the class twice a week for a half hour to basically tell your kid to do push ups. I am sure that family fare down the street knows more about martial arts than these a$$ hats.. Like going to a used car lot, its a franchised business.

Our son has been going to Flees Martial Arts for about two and a half years. He’s six and a half now. He has morphed from a bit of a squirley little guy to being totally into it and serious. He is loud and proud with saying “yes ma’am” (to his teachers, not to me) and takes karate seriously. We like the owners a lot they are both lovely people and the teachers are great. Yes they want to earn and keep your business so they do offer lots of programs which can come off as being very salesy. They are very passionate about what they do!

We initially placed our daughter in classes because we wanted to know she could defend herself, but we got SO much more out of having her enrolled at Flees ATA. Her grades have gone up, her confidence has increased, she now feels comfortable talking in public, and those are only to start! ATA has a strict curriculum that allows for parents to get to have input into goals for their child. During life lessons, the instructors often ask the parents for input which the kids are held accountable to by their peers as well as their instructors. This is a business and it isnt free. The school is kept VERY clean, the bathrooms scrubbed daily, mats air-ionized to reduce bacteria and smell, safety mats and shields upgraded regularly to keep the students safe. We have made a few sacrifices to make tuition possible but after seeing what we get out of it, the cost is VERY reasonable. Once equipment is purchased, that cost is done unless you want new or your kid outgrows what they have (my daughter lost her board for board breaks and we made her earn the money to purchase a replacement). We are grateful to the academy and as parents, we stay involved because it is awesome to watch her grow as she works towards her Black Belt!

Do not go here! This place charges ridiculous fees and make you sign a 1 yr contract without explaining it first. My friends 6 yr old son tried it, didnt like it and the place continues to bill the parents even after they explained it wasnt the sport for him. They refuse to let them out of the contract. Its horrible customer service. Why would you want children there who dont like the sport? Instead they would rather upset customers and potentially have their reputation impacted.Check out Big Dog TKD in Cascade instead. They are very family friendly.

My son has autism and took martial arts training at the Flees academy from age 10 to 14. Initially, he was not able to tie his shoes or balance a bike. He tended to give up when trying to learn anything new if it did not come easily. With martial arts training, he learned to persevere and learned self control. Within the first year he was tying his shoes and balancing a bike. He eventually got his black belt, an accomplishment he is still proud of today. His coordination, strength and endurance improved. He was able to get out of a bullys choke hold in the lunch line at school. He made friends. I highly recommend the Flees for their work with kids on the autism spectrum. It is worth the financial investment, especially if your kid is motivated by superheroes, ninjas, etc.!

I have been a student for 1 1/2 years at Flees ATA. I have learned to defend myself, become a leader and speak in front of others. I am very happy that I saw the Flees ATA Booth at the kids expo last year and had my parents sign me up. I have also gone from a C student to almost all As in school. This is my sport and I am proud to be working hard at it.

Scamming kids at an expo at the devos place is absolutely insane. Had my son spin a wheel and told him to his face he had a free month of classes and after the trial class they tried to pressure my girlfriend into signing a contract. Then grabbed my sons hand and tries to persuade my son to say he wanted to do it. MY SON IS ONLY 3. These guys should be shut down and not have a business. Do not join this group of crooks its a joke. WHO LIES TO KIDS AT A KID EXPO???

Now, this place is absolutely amazing! When I had first joined to me it was like cool somewhere where I can empty my energy but now its just so much more, this place has forged me friendships. And sure you go home numb and thirsty but as the fleeses have a way of doing that makes me WANT to come back and challenge my yesterdays self. Plus for Those people who think its too expensive, sure it is but have you ever seen a sport that doesnt require payment in some kind? After all the fleeses have to have a way to pay for their equipment their employees and the kids belts the things aren`t free y`know! And if youve been going for as long as I have the fleeses become more than a place to go and people to challenge you the fleeses become your family and the academy slowly start becoming your home away from home.Ps. Sorry if I spell your name wrong spell check doesnt like it.

Flees Martial Arts is a fantastic group that trains and teaches Songahm Taekwondo! My family and I originally started when I was eleven years old, and the four of us all attained our black belts. The skills, traits, and attributes that are not only taught, but emphasized on is a wonderful way to build an unshakable foundation. This foundation can be applied to anyone seeking something more; whether you are an adult thirsting for a challenge, or parents looking to better their child(ren) and prepare them for the real world.

We had considered joining after seeing the Flees ATA booth at the Kids expo last year, but didnt join for almost another year. We are not sure what we were waiting for!! Our daughter had been struggling in school with talking back and not following rules and forgetting to turn in assignments. She has had a COMPLETE turn around! We get emails and phone calls from the school now about how good she is doing and how she has improved so much. Besides teaching core concepts like respect, honesty, communication and self esteem, she is learning physical fitness and is looking forward to competing in competitions. Besides all that, I rest easy in knowing that my daughter knows some stellar self defense moves!!Just like any sport, there is cost associated with Tae Kwon Do. We were able to get her uniform free because we signed her up for higher than a basic program. As parents, we see this as an investment in her future! No sport is free, you have to purchase equipment for football, baseball and hockey, why not purchase equipment for Tae Kwon Do? They worked with me to get payments to a workable amount for our household.Mr and Mrs Flees are exceptional business owners and instructors. I have had several times in the beginning where they were willing to work with the school and us to come up with a plan for our daughter so she wouldnt feel like the school was always coming down on her. Once she saw how hard the Flees would fight for her, she began to excel. I see Mr. Flees constantly communicating with parents regarding the kids (and teens) and that is a huge reassurance to me. The elite instructors that they have at the Academy are top notch, and my daughter looks forward to being one of them some day!If you are a parent considering Tae Kwon Do, please feel free to contact me, I would love to tell you more!
