Team GAMMA is the best ju jitzu & kickboing gym in Greenville, NC.When I started looking for a gym to train at in Greenville I browsed over a couple of options and even tried some out, then I found Team Gamma and realized the difference. Immidiately I was trainning in ju jitzu and kickboxing, and knew I was finally in the right spot. The main difference is the ability to learn from professionals like Jay Speight, who has an actual proven record of winning in the cage multiple times, and great competition Kickboxer and striker Jason Price, who competes on a regular basis as well. This is what makes this gym such a rare opportunity for the pitt county area and the right choice for anyone, wether your goal be training for practical self-defense or competitive purposes. Before I started at Team Gamma I was in a bad spot mentally from losing nearly all of my family, I was overweight and unmotivated, and had very little training in martial arts. In 7 short months Team GAMMA got me into the best shape of my life, I became a more well rounded fighter than I even thought possible, and most importantly I gained a new family that had a genuine interest in each others success inside and outside of the gym. Even after moving months ago and settling into a new area, I still greatly miss this place and it is because of this gym that I continue to train today.Take it from someone who had tried the other gyms in the area, don’t waste your time like I did. Go straight to the pros at Team GAMMA.

I have trained at a lot of gyms spanning my fighting career. Technical knowledge is one of the hardest things to translate to students. Never at any moment have I ever felt at this gym that I was not getting better with each and every session I attended. This gym has been so influential in the development of not only my skill but how I apply my self. The people at this gym want nothing more than to help me succeed in any way. Always willing to take the time with each student to not only train them...but get to know them as well. Instructions come from instructors who have been there before. No one here is trying to sell you a dream..they provide the tools and support you need to reach them. Yes it will take hard work. You will sweat and earn each and everything that you get..but if you are not willing to work for what you want.. do you even really want it at all? We train..we travel.. we compete..but most of all we connect...I feel like family here. So if you want to get better and be better...and you mean it...there is no better place to train.

The teacher is knowledgeable and very nice. We like it very much because The kids get to practice with the skills they learn during the last 10 minutes of the class and it is very helpful for them to retain what they learn. Definitely recommend the face.

I walked into this gym over 8 1/2 years ago and told the owner I wanted to fight. He tried to stifle his laughter because I wasnt the first person to cross the threshold of his gym with the words want to fight coming out of his mouth. But I did it. As I was training, James asked me if I was going to stay after my fight. I promised I would, and Im glad I did. Super nice people to train with; I forged some lasting friendships, and fell in love with this beautiful martial art. The size of the gym wont impress you, but whats inside will. The dudes (and women) who train there are as tough as they come. Ive rolled with these cats, and they are as tenacious and as fundamentally sound as any other practitioners. Ive trained at gyms in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and my new home, Virginia, and I can tell you the only differences, comparatively, between those gyms and the Little Gym That Could, is enrollment. I never got outclassed on the mats when I visited other gyms. James is very knowledgeable of the craft, and is very astute in selecting fair opponents for his fighters. Ive always known him to be trustworthy. He took a chance with me, and if youre interested in learning jiu jitsu, you should give him a chance as well.

I have been with All American Martial Arts Academy for more than a year now. I love this place! I am 43 years old. I joined because of my sons love for this school and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I realized you dont have to be a cage fighter, and quickly fell in love with the self defense aspect of BJJ. I am proof that all ages can attend this school. All of the instructors are highly skilled, and teach at every skill level. They treat you like family!

Four heavy bags. One double end bag. And a jijustu rolling map. As a striker, specifically a competing amateur boxer, this gyms equipment may not be the most ideal. Of course, there are tons of boxing bags at Tier 1 or the local Title Boxing gym (i.e. local boxing gyms). However, the other gyms do not share one crucial component, or the substance that holds a combat gym together. This significant component is involvement. Ive visited the local Greenville gyms, spoke with the coaches, hit their bags, etc, and even though I have respect for any gym that opens their door to me, no other gym compares with the involvement that James Speight and Coach Terrance shows for their students. No other Greenville gym asks their students if they are competing in the next few months, and if so, are asked to put their name on the rooms whiteboard so everyone can help push the hopeful competitor. No other gym spends quality time to develop correct technique for every single individual, no matter if theyve never stepped foot into a gym. No other local gym has offered for students to come in outside of class times to train before upcoming competitions. Typically at other gyms, when the class is done, the gym is done. However, the coach has asked frequently if I would like further training on mitts, sparring, bag work, etc after practice. There was one incident when I arrived a little later than I intended for the weekend open mats. I thought I would only have 30mins to train, yet one of the owners suggested I stay for however long needed. Even though open gym was suppose to close, the owner insisted that I got adequate training in.Yes, this gym is known for its excelling ji-jitsu, but it should also be known for its team-oriented environment. We push each other, and strive to better ourselves. This can only be attainable from the leadership provided by James and Terrance. If you are an interested competitor or just looking for a martial arts community, this is definitely the gym I would recommend.

Jiu-Jitsu changed me for the better... I was always a very small kid, so small that I would have fainting spells and when you add learning disabilities to the mix youre a bully target. I was worried if I tried an MMA school that they would also be bullies and beat me up worse than the bullies I had in the past. I finally decided to take the risk and try a school. All American Martial Arts Academy was the first school I tried. I felt so comfortable here that trying elsewhere wasnt even a thought... Dont let your age, weight, or physical disabilities make you not try Jiu-Jitsu. Learn to make Jiu-Jitsu work for you...

I have trained at all the BJJ clubs in Greenville and have been an instructor at most of them, including my time as the advisor of various combat sports clubs at East Carolina University. I am a purple belt in BJJ, BJJ blue belt NC State Champion in 2010, Judo blue belt NC State Champion 2008, and I hold a 1-1 MMA record in NC.At GAMMA you will quikly learn, and be able to implement the essentials of BJJ.This school uses BJJ as their cornerstone to self-defense and MMA success. With the addition of the striking classes and the many accomplished fighters that are also students, All-American Martial is the premier MMA school in Greenville. How does this help you learn BJJ? With such practitioners, that use BJJ and other combat sports skills, in real as is gets scenarios, you can know that when you are on the mat with these students, you are doing the real deal. The other aspect, which is just as important, and to some, even more important is attitude. Even the top ranked fighters are friendly and love to roll with new people at whatever pace the new person is comfortable with.Team GAMMA combines credible and usable technique, with a humble attitude that always honors the beginner.Have fun out there and see you soon!
