My son is very hard to teach as it is with most boys there energy far exceeds that of any one that is not 6 years old. So it takes a lot to keep him interested. The way Dan and his instructors teach the kids works with my son. I am very happy with the results his attention span is much longer and he listens to me which is nothing short of a amazing. I have two special needs children and Professor Dan (and the rest of the staff) have been nothing short of AMAZING in getting them involved and going in martial arts. The amount of patience that is shown to the children have made them feel that they CAN succeed and participate. Professor Dan and Marie have went out of their way to help us also with some parenting issues and have let us know that we are in this together and it is MUCH appreciated and a welcome respite to other experiences we have had. Professor Dan Anderson is a master teacher! I trained Karate and Modern Arnis at Dan Anderson Karate for 10 years, and it became one of the greatest influences in my life. The school has always taken a practical approach to martial arts. You can apply it for your own self defense and also learn the ART in the martial arts. I found this Karate School 14 years ago and started when i was around 6 years old. They welcomed me with open arms and a great caring attitude. It was a great life experience to be there. I didnt just learn how to protect my self but also how to be my self and and control my self around people who irritated me. plus how to be a better person even if it seems impossible. Dan Anderson has been the best instructor for many years. He is excellent with all ages of kids. I learned a lot from him when I was a student at his school.

I started at Dan Anderson Karate when I was in 8th grade and continued there well into my college year. I found that Professor Anderson has a great teaching method and will make sure his students get a solid grasp of the concepts he teaches. The Master Instructor, Tom Corsine, also makes sure to help the students understand the concepts and will work with them until they figure it out.I would highly recommend this school for anyone, whether youre a martial arts nut or just looking for a new activity.

I have been to some martial arts schools in Portland but I have to say this is the only school where I know im going to learn something and I know there here for me to learn the staff is friendly the workouts are great instructions are well thought out and the best in my opinion is the sparring we learn not to kill the other person but we learn how to put are moves together to better everybody in my opinion I love it

Now, I didnt go to this school for very long, but the time I was there was amazing. While i was there, I ended up learning a lot more then I originally thought I would. I was taught how to defend myself, stand up for myself and what to do if I somehow ended up in a fight. We werent taught to start fights, but how to get out of them unscathed.This school, is more then a school, its a family. One where we help each other become stronger and more prepared for the things that life can - and will throw at us. Since ive quit, Ive regretted it, it was the me in my hectic younger life and now that Im older and have more free time, Ive decided to try it again - but this time, with a few family members. The Lauderbacks are coming back.

I dont know why I didnt enroll my daughter sooner. I cant think of a more positive place for a young child to learn confidence, self defense, and teamwork.
