Master Jeremy is Awesome!! If your looking for a martial arts Dojo, this is the one. We have been treated like family from day one, everyone is always very helpful and communicative. After our last dojo, this was very welcoming for us.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this martial arts studio! Master Jeremy is a wonderful instructor who really considers the needs of each student. He makes it fun for all ages, and even makes it possible for those with injuries or chronic mobility issues to progress through the ranks.

A gem in the eastside of Portland is Dynamic Martial Arts. Jeremy Smith is a true instructor who has served his community for literally decades. Jeremy has a style of teaching that reaches anyone. Martial Arts may be what one will come for, but what they will leave with is a better understanding of self, and what self-defense means in todays world. Ive had the pleasure of working with Jeremy for over 10 years and cant count the times hes put student before himself, gone above and beyond to help people and serve. One would be missed if they went anywhere other than Dynamic Martial Arts in Gresham. I wish more martial art schools where like this one. Perfect for young children through adulthood.

Ive been in martial arts for over 30 years, and known Jeremy for the last 10 of that. I can honestly say, he is one of the best martial art teachers Ive ever seen, and Ive seen MANY teachers. Not only does he know his stuff forward and backward, but he knows the whys, hows, and whens. Technically his form is excellent, and in all those 10 years Ive never stumped him with a question. But, lets be honest- thats only 1/2 of being a martial arts teacher. Jeremy is also just a plain old great person. He takes special care with not only students, but with parents or anybody else in the school. He is humble in everything he does (which at his level is really hard to find sometimes) and is always ready to learn something new or talk about things he already knows about. He can relate to everybody, from little kids to seniors. He is a very open book- what you see is what you get, with no hidden agendas. Theres simply no ego with him. Confidence, yes, but no ego. I can say without any doubt that he will have no problem with students, and whoever does come in the school will be happy and truly lucky to learn from him. Many people have asked me over the years where a good place to train would be, and I can say with no doubt at all that Dynamic would be an excellent place to go.

Master Jeremy does an amazing job engaging with students and pushing them to grow in a positive way. In six months our son has developed so much focus, respect, self-control, and its his first experience appreciating something with long term goals and rewards. All of that growth has been facilitated by the amazing instruction.

A wonderful and friendly school for all experience levels! I am a third degree black belt and the previous school I attended eventually shut down. After around four years of searching for a good local martial arts school I came across Dynamic Martial Arts. I have a feeling that I will be attending here for a very very long time. The staff are friendly and knowledgable, the lessons are practical and challenging, and the community is positive, encouraging, and like a big family. If youre in the Gresham area I highly suggest giving Dynamic a try!

My two daughters had the privilege of having Jeremy as their martial arts teacher beginning at five years old. They both achieved their black belts but more importantly had a positive learning experience because of Jeremys expertise and compassion. I would highly recommend his martial arts school!

Jeremy is s gentle giant who knows how to get the best out of kids. He teaches them respect by how he treats them and they in turn have a deep respect for him. He is able to inspire them to be their best and gets them motivated through kind leadership. My daughter has been instructed by him for the last 5 years and she adores him. He is one of her heroes. Cant say enough about him as a mentor and martial arts instructor.

I was mentored by Jeremy at Dynamic Martial Arts long before he opened his own studio, and he was consistently my favorite martial arts instructor because he made classes fun and have the perfect amount of challenge. The way he teaches life lessons, shares stories, and mentored young students like myself, is one of a kind. If you are looking to learn about martial arts, self discipline, and perseverance in an enjoyable way, there is no other person I would recommend more highly than Jeremy.

My experiences with Jeremy Smith in the past have been wonderful. He really takes his time and energy to pull out the best in all of his students. He teaches beyond the kicking and punching which has allowed me (as a previous student of his) to go above and beyond my limits.

Jeremy was our instructor for 7 years. My oldest son started at age 5 and earned his BB at age 11. You will not find an instructor who cares more about his students than Jeremy. He not only taught my boys martial arts skills but life skills that have carried on into their adult lives. We cant say enough things about Jeremy

We just had our first class with Master Jeremy. I have a martial arts background, but came from a really conservative area. I am a queer parent to a 4 year old. Our concern was the culture of marital arts and the toxic relationship it has with young men. We wanted our son to be able to be in a supportive atmosphere with a teacher he could respect, who was kind, nurturing, and most of all willing to connect to the parts of our child, and by extension all children, that are playful and trusting. We wanted a dojo with a firm sense of equality between all children, not just the boys. Master Jeremy exceeded my expectations. Very early on in the lesson it became clear that Master Jeremy was doing what he was meant to do. I especially connected to their foster child classes on their website, because I was a previous foster child. Kindness is a rarity in the world; not the commerical kindness that gets you to buy products. . . but genuine kindness. The basis of all forms of marital arts is to produce human beings who are kind to themselves, and therefore have the capacity to be kind and positive within the world. I didn’t think we’d find someone who represented this, but we have. We were welcomed, not just for business purposes, but for human purposes. Master Jeremy was responsive to all the children and gentle with his boundaries. He didn’t teach out of fear, or ego, or even forced respect. The children naturally and willingly give their attention, focus, and respect because he is deserving of it. After a half hour with him, I freely give mine too. He is a wonderful teacher. He knows what he is talking about, and structures his lessons to fit the personality and moods of small, often feral children. I’ll be honest, our kid is a wild man. That’s not the reason I wrote the review though. There are hundreds of people who can teach good form. I wrote this because Master Jeremy made an impression on me as a good person. I was sincerely touched by the end of the lesson with how much reverence I had for the type of man he is. Having a positive model of a heteronormative man is so hard to find. We are all so busy challenging one another that we have forgotten that we belong to one another. We have forgotten we have a responsibility to encourage, protect, help, and even love one another. I walked out of the dojo feeling like we had found someone who not only had not forgotten, but who had manage to embody this ideology in his teaching, in his mannerism, in his approach, and in his energy. I would highly recommend him for martial arts instruction, but more than that I would recommend him because it’s important to have men like him in the lives of our children. It’s important to have men like him in the world, period.

I cannot recommend Dynamic Martial Arts and KGN Jeremy Smith enough. I started martial arts in 2007 at the young age of 44. I started out for exercise and conditioning but quickly made some lifelong friends. Under the instruction of Jeremy, I learned the proper techniques of martial arts as well as the art. Jeremy is an amazing instructor and person. With his kindness and knowledge, he made class fun but challenging. In 2010 I earned by first degree black belt, an adventure I will always cherish and never forget. I never could have achieved this without the instruction, kindness and dedication of KGN Jeremy. Martial Arts isn’t about achieving a black belt but pushing yourself to continuously learn and get better at whatever you do. Regardless of age, Dynamic Marital Arts and Jeremy teach life lessons in a kind, fun and challenging environment. Jeremy is a great instructor, person and friend.

I had the incredible good fortune to meet KGN Jeremy over 9 years ago and began my journey as a martial artist. I became a black belt under his guidance and instruction; and this year my son will earn his 1st degree as well. My oldest son started training at 3 years old. Now, all 4 of my kids are growing as martial artist. They are strong, kind and extremely confident young people. None of this would have been possible without KGN Jeremys ability to make anyone confident they can learn and achieve remarkable things in their lives. Jeremy is always friendly, positive and welcoming to everyone. He is an amazing teacher and Ive witnessed the young children hes worked with grow into absolutely amazing and gifted young adults. I can highly recommend his school and his instruction in martial arts (and friendship) to anyone (with or without kids) that wishes to learn.Plus... Hes like a giant Yoda! (And Yoda helped turn a whiney kid into a Jedi!)

I have known Jeremy Smith as a martial arts instructor for over 20 years. In 1992, when my sons were 4 and 6, I enrolled them at a tae kwon do school where Jeremy was a lead instructor. I was immediately impressed by his professionalism, energy, and love for what he was doing. Over the next 12 years he taught, guided, and mentored my sons, helping them to attain their first degree and then second degree black belts. Both of them benefited from this experience in more ways than I can say. I wholeheartedly recommend Jeremy as an instructor, mentor, and leader. Lynn Feador, Albuquerque, NM.

KJN Jermey is a great instructor. He is very passionate in teaching martial arts. He started teaching our son and daughter in 2012 and has made a huge impact not only in their lives, but in ours. He would take his time in making sure every student understood the proper movements in punching, kicking, and forms. Also teach the students how to apply what the learned in class in everyday life. I wish I would have made the decision earlier to start martial arts and be in his class. He brings to his dojo (Dynamic Martial Arts) years of experience not only in practicing but also in teaching. Do not miss this opportunity to learn from KJN Jermey like I did.
