Central Dauphin High School is only good because of the location. The principal is incompetent and has no clue about administration of a high school. This school protects certain students who have Caucasian mothers who bring in brownies for the teachers and buy coaches gifts. If you want a good education and you are African American DO NOT COME HERE! The teachers are lazy and do not put in any additional effort to help students succeed. Most of the counselors do for the favorites only and information on a HBCU will not be received here! Principals run around trying to catch students doing anything wrong in an effort to administer punishment instead if providing guidance. Did I say the principal is awful and the Superintendent is worse! Just clueless in any relations that involve minorities. Search for another school that is well versed in education and relating to students from all cultures. No African American teachers anywhere in sight.

Used to be a very good school, but a combination of the recession and local politics has rendered the entire school district incompetent. The budget cuts have rendered the teachers understocked, in some cases they have to get their own pencils and paper. There are two good principles, and the other three are either incompetent, or racist and incompetent. The teachers are split 50/50 for either being ok or bad, there are some great and horrible teachers but they are far and few between. The entirety of the main office is completely useless and teachers and other staff have to pick up the slack to make the school runnable while the principles go around with a boner for power and the secretaries continue to gossip and ignore their duties. The food here is awful, and is getting worse every year. I pack now but every so often i forget my food and have to get lunch from the school. The lines are packed and disorganized and the lunch staff do not seem to care about the students in the slightest. Ive actually overheard the head chef talking about how he thinks all the students are stupid. The only saving grace are some of the good teachers and (with the exception of the business department) a very ahead of the curve extra-curricular elective program, where you can pick from various art, engineering, or musical courses. If you love sports there is not much left wanting. They have everything from a laid back cross country team, to the hyper-competitive adrenaline and testosterone soaked football team. Unfortunately, they seem to care more about sports than they do about their curriculum. The tech policy is bittersweet, as of last school year they have allowed smart phones, tablets and laptops to be used during school. This really helped to take the edge off of the long school days. However, the tech department has slowly started to block everything that could be used from entertainment during our free times. There are ways around such censorship, such as using a VPN, but parts of it are very fool-proof. Ive prodded very deeply into the computer network system (using methods I wont detail because i dont want to get expelled). There is basically no way to get an external .exe running on your computer without actually disabling the community network.Overall, this school is what you make it. If youre into sports, pack your own lunch, and get all the right teachers this could be an ok school for you, but the chances of that happening are very low, and for me personally I give it a two stars where 3 stars would probably be slightly more fitting for some people.
