My very gifted son attended there we found it lack luster and unhelpful in helping him receive the services he needed. We ended up moving to the Nashville, TN area so that he could attend a magnet school. They missed out on serving a student that could help them receive national honors and receive extra funding to help other students no matter what the need.

This is a very fun school and just a second grader and I really like it I think it’s amazing teachers you want to start there’s lots of rooms lots of fun teachers if you started they are your eyes would just pop out it’s just amazing and if you just go there for your first day you might actually see me there but I don’t have actually anything else to say. The teachers are very nice they have a cool game called Prodigy they can set you up straightaway and Lexia reading apps called epic there’s a very cool apps hopefully they can get more sis says full and find more children to get to the school I really hope that they have very successful successful Vince Ness and I will be moving on the third grade next year so I will still be in the Austill be right next-door hopefully someday I’ll get to meet my first grade teacher water I am going to

The SLAC teachers, support staff, and administrators are all very caring and dedicate a lot of personal time and resources for the students and their families. There are several veteran teachers and a lot of new teachers as well, so there is a wide range of teaching styles and ability amongst the various classrooms but overall, the teachers here work very hard and have a lot of challenges on their plate, yet they all want what’s best for the students 100% of the time. The PTO is amazing!!! They do a LOT for the school and students! Not many PTOs have a huge FREE fall festival every year and organize all of the school book fairs, classroom parties, and field day. However, the overall parent involvement is at the very minimum. If it wasn’t for the few PTO members and the school’s volunteer program, the students would not be able to have many fun celebrations or events during or after school. It seems like the lack of parental involvement only gets worse year after year. The school culture is very is extremely culturally diverse in every sense (ethnically, racially, religiously, economically, and socially) and there’s a LOT of school spirit! Diversity is certainly valued. Most elementary sports are available to the K-2 students and I believe they are mostly funded and run through outside organizations (like the Hanna Foundation) and the teams are very good! It’s amazing how athletic some of the kids are! Thanks to partnerships with many of the athletic organizations, there are several sports offered at a very age. Kindergarteners can play football, basketball, baseball/softball/t-ball, and cheerleading (I think soccer too). The academics offered are average and typical for elementary level. There are some great support services offered to meet the needs of students who struggle with certain academic or social-emotional skills, but they could improve on resources and services for students who are gifted or need enrichment beyond the core curriculum. I see a lot of progress being made to support struggling learners or children who need more support socially or emotionally, but not a lot of work being done for those who need higher level of instruction. The facilities are average like most elementary schools. The school should expand or build another school to accommodate the huge and growing student population. I also think the maintenance and custodial staff could grow and expand to keep up with maintaining and cleaning of the building. The building is overall safe but every school could always improve some of the safety structures and features.
