My wife and I took dance lessons to prepare for the first dance at our wedding this summer. We went to Fred Astaire to get some basic tips and be more sure of ourselves when on the dance floor for the first time at our wedding, and we were blown away by everything about the studio.We were instantly impressed with Susannahs passion for teaching us how to be better dancers and to use our strengths as well as the song we chose for our first dance to design an amazing first dance for us. I am definitely not the most comfortable person on the dance floor, but Susannah made each lesson fun and drove us to become better dancers and master the steps she taught us.We cannot wait to go back to Fred Astaire to learn new dances and continue to grow our skill set on the dance floor with Susannah.

Two weeks before our wedding, my husband and I reached out to the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Reston, in the hopes that they might be able to teach us a thing or two prior to our first dance at our wedding. We were immediately paired with Nathan, who was so patient, creative, and fun to work with! In four lessons, he managed to take a part of the wedding that I was feeling the most anxious about, and made it one of the highlights of our wedding day!Our experience at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Reston could not have been better. The staff was so friendly, supportive, and accommodating of our very busy schedule in the two weeks leading up to our wedding. We look forward to returning again for more dance lessons and to participate in the Friday evening dance parties!

I have been coming to the studio for almost two years now and love it. I recommend it to anybody who has ever wanted to learn dancing. I spent so many years convinced that I couldnt, but finally decided to do something about it. No regrets. Cant count how many times a bad day was turned around by lessons with Nathan and the rest of the instructors.

My wife’s parents have been ballroom dancing for about ten years now, so the prospect of dancing in front of all our friends and family was especially daunting since some of them were “pros”! Nathan prepared us perfectly! He choreographed a super fun dance for us (to “Come Fly With Me” by Frank Sinatra) that was within our capabilities but still looked impressive! Our friends were blown away and the bride’s parents were proud. Nathan was a very patient and helpful teacher, and we were so ready for our dance that even when the DJ played the wrong cover of our song, we didn’t miss a beat. (Oh, and by the way, Nathan DID warn us to make extra certain the song would be right and gave us tips for talking to the DJ; he knew all the tricks and missteps to avoid, we unfortunately were unable to follow through on our end — the point is, listen to Nathan and he will steer you right and help you impress all your friends and family with awesome moves!!)

The Fred Astaire Dance Studio is a great new addition to the Reston/Herndon area. I had been thinking about improving my skills (ha!) on the dance floor for a number of years, and it seems like there are more and more social situations which pop up as I get older (weddings, office holiday parties, cruise ships, spontaneous moments!) that I would prefer not to embarrass myself. When I saw the studio had just opened in my neighbor, it was one of those “no excuses” moments. It was a nice surprise (and relief) that after about 10 minutes into the first class I was enjoying myself. My instructor, Susannah, is the utmost professional, having a great deal of patience for the ultimate non-dancer like myself, but still urges the student to push themselves a little further and gain more confidence. It’s well designed new studio space and I found the pricing to be the same or even more reasonable than time with a personal trainer at the local gym. The bonus with the dance studio though is you get exercise and gain a handy social skill in the process (and have a little fun too).

I took an introductory lesson at the studio shortly before they opened on a whim. I was completely sold after my first 30 minutes! I can honestly say this has changed my outlook on life. I look forward to my lessons as well as the Friday night party. My time at the studio is filled with much laughter and its a great way to de-stress!You can take this to any level from casual dancing to competition and periodically you have the opportunity to work with some very talented coaches!For those of you who have a secret passion to dance or are simply looking to meet new fun people this is absolutely the place for you.Give it a try you have nothing to lose!

Fun, safe place to relax. A lot of wedding couples here they must be doing great job with them. I do enjoy my private lessons, groups and Friday night practice parties. Also I like a sense of community.

I had always wanted to take dance lessons but thought I was too old (mid 40s). And then I found Fred Astaire Reston and had my first dance lesson in August of 2016 and have been taking weekly dance lessons (private and group plus the dance parties on Friday nights) since then. All of the instructors are encouraging, professional, patient and make it easier than you would think to learn how to dance. Great studio and great instructors! Added bonus: Ive made lots of new friends who all love dancing and my overall health has improved tremendously - no more back pain, improved cardio health, weight loss (this is a great workout but it doesnt feel like working out because youre having too much fun).

Highly recommend this studio, the teachers are all engaging and patient with a lot of humor added to the teaching. I look forward to my lessons each week. If you have ever tapped your toes to a great Sinatra tune, or enjoy watching the great old MGM musicals, then learning to dance may be something you dont even realize you will enjoy. Wondering if there is more to do on a weekend then the bar scene, or maybe just seeking an escape from this working city or the dreary news and politics of the day. Then this could be just the thing. As Danny Kaye put it....The best things happen when you are dancing.

Professional teachers give great lessons and tips. Had a 4 session package to learn some dance steps for our upcoming wedding and had a great time. Our instructor was very patient and helped us newbies raise our skills and had fun doing it. Would recommend for anyone in the area interested in lessons ranging from beginners like us to competition level dancers.,

We love the studio and the staff. They did a wonderful job of introducing us to various ballroom dances and have helped build our ability and our confidence, all while having fun. As new empty nesters and new to the Herndon/Reston area we were looking for something fun to do together. We had taken ballroom dancing in the past and thought it would be fun to improve our dancing skills for weddings and social outings so we decided to give the Fred Astaire Studio in Reston a chance.It has turned out to be a great decision! We have enjoyed taking our lessons with Nathan and feel we improve each week. Nathan is very patient and encouraging. Taking the various group classes we have had a chance to work with all the dance instructors there and they are all friendly and highly professional. We extremely recommend this studio to anyone who has an interest in dancing.

I have been taking lessons at Fred Astaire Studio in Reston since it opened this past summer. I enjoy the top notch instruction and the ambience created at the studio parties and showcases.The staff goes out of their way to help each student feel comfortable and welcome.There is a great mix of students at all levels and I always have fun socializing every time I go to a party, which is weekly. I highly recommend the staff and the beautiful studio specifically created for dancing.

We love our instructor, Rebecca! She is so fun and so encouraging. We always are so excited to come to class, and we took our first group class last night Sevrin and he was awesome!! We learned a few new things that were a great addition to our swing classes :) Thank you so much!!

I love this place. Not only are the instructors gifted and professional teachers and dancers, but they are also some of the nicest people Ive ever met. Personally, I came in for Salsa. Yet in a handful of lessons Im dancing Salsa, Rumba, Waltz and more. And not just the basics, but beyond, thanks to Lauren my excellent private instructor. Im so glad I took that first lesson.

We have been attending Fred Astaire at the Reston location for about one year now. We started going because my fiancé’ always wanted to dance and I thought this would be a fun activity we could do together and enjoy dancing while attending functions. One of our biggest accomplishments is that Sevrin and Susannah choreographed our wedding dance, which we mastered in time for our special day.One of the most important things that matters to us is that the feeling of the Reston location is VERY PERSONABLE. Everybody from staff to students are always warm and welcoming. After a short period, it really felt like a family environment. They offer Friday night dance theme parties, Salsa group nights out at the local Salsa club, holiday parties, events, showcases and much more... There is no shortage of things to do… We will continue to participate and look forward to learning new dance moves, meeting new people and enjoying ourselves with the Fred Astaire family.

Fred Astaire Reston is great! Dancing is an easy and fun way to get some exercise and build confidence. This was my first foray into ballroom dancing and Sevrin is a patient and talented instructor. Its great to see the studio expanding to serve more students!

Came here to learn our first dance for the wedding. We have significantly improved our dancing skills and we are only half way thru our lessons. Susannah and Kyra and the whole crew are so friendly and welcoming (and they are amazing dancers). Always have a good laugh and learn some moves!

The staff is professional, highly skilled, accomodating, and always working to improve their skills. The studio has a comfortable atmosphere. There is a variety of events where you can enjoy social dancing and show off what you have learned in a family friendly environment. I have attended several studios and I strongly recommend this studio whether starting new, or continuing to progress as a dancer.

Great studio, we have a lot of fun here! I highly recommend even if you are shy or self conscious, they will put you at ease and have you dancing and laughing in no time.

I thought it would be great to get some exercise doing something I enjoyed. Ballroom dancing was perfect. I have learned the steps to many dances, The staff is great, they are excellent instructors. They not only provide individual lessons but there are twice a week group lessons and the Friday night dances that are so much fun, we get to practice dancing all the steps we have learned during the week. It is a warm, fun learning environment.

I gave a Christmas gift of dance lessons to my fiance. We are true beginners. We have had lessons with Sevrin since January, 2019. We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Fred Astaire. Our instructor, Sevrin has a wonderful and funny personality style that makes the lessons fun and not intimidating. Sevrin explains and demonstrates dance moves in a very clear manner that have made it relatively easy for us to learn. The studio is clean and well appointed, but not too far over the top. All of the staff are welcoming and pleasant. It is clear that Sevrin and the other instructors have competed a lot and work with all levels of dance students. We recommend this dance studio for those who want to learn and do something fun or go to the next level of your dance experience!

We came to the studio as they had just opened and with 6 week to go prior to our destination wedding. We met with Susannah and I was comforted that she had a pretty solid plan to get us ready. Susannah put together a wonderful first dance for my husband and me. We had never danced in any official capacity before, and she was so patient and positive in our lessons. Simply amazing... great instructors who make the experience truly rewarding.

Our son is getting married on February 17 and we wanted to join in on the dance floor! In January, I called Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Reston to find out if we could learn to dance for the wedding in six weeks. Sevrin Shapiachan told us to come in for a free consultation! The next evening after our free lesson, we were convinced that this was doable and signed up for 6 private lessons with Sevrin Shapiachan. Sevrin is an excellent instructor and gently encourages his students.We are 60 year old novices in dance and started from the beginning, at square zero! We will be able to dance the night away doing the Hustle, Rumba and Waltz! But we want to continue improving our dance skills, so we are now signing up for the Social Foundation sessions .We are enjoying every moment at the Studio in the friendly, social atmosphere with other students, instructors and Sevrin.

Teachers are genuinely invested in teaching you how to dance and have fun at same time.

I cannot say enough positive things about the classes and my instructor Sevrin Shapiachan. Sevrin is a masterful teacher, a wonderful group leader and runs a great venue. He is such a wonderful and sweet person who will make you fall in love with ballroom dancing.The classes are such a blast and so much fun. Sevrin, Susanna, Lauren and Nathan are teaching different dances each week (Salsa, Tango, Cha-Cha, Rumba and waltz). They are able to teach the fundamentals of movement in a way that is logical and where the student feels comfortable in their classes from the first moment.I highly recommend anyone, with or without dance experiences, to take social ballroom dance classes at Fred Astaire at the Herndon/Reston location.
