If you can move ANYWHERE else, I suggest you do not put your children here. They use CPS as a weapon. Mrs. Broussard the Assistant Principal is a real fruitcake. She called CPS and told them my son-in-law was retarded and unable to pick up his children from school. My son-in-law is disabled. There is a big difference. She jumped up and down and clapped her hands like a 3 year old when she thought CPS was going to take the children. I do not feel this is normal behavior for an assistant principal. She followed the CPS worker to our house. Again, I do not feel like it was her business to go to our house. I call it being nosey. Both children have behavior problems and are going to a psychiatrist and therapist.They complained about the behavior and when we tried to get help they even turned it into court for missing school for the appointments. Dr. excuses were turned into them and they claimed they never were. Because the meds are having to be adjusted periodically, they then called CPS stating we were drugging the children. I have tried to talk to DR. Giles the superintendant in regards to this. Dr. Giles is never available and does not have time for things like this. In 3 years, I have made several requests to speak to her, she is never there, never returns the calls, and Mr. Webster says it is not her job. Special ed in this school is not good either. My granddaughter got more out of speech therapy from Building Blocks. The only reason they got a one star is because there is no 0. Last but not least if you live in this district, and decide to put you children in another school for whatever reason, they will call CPS on you and demand to know what school you are putting them in and why you are taking them out. I thought this was a free country. Not in Sheldon ISD. Sheldon Early Learning Academy, where your child will go for Pre-K and Kindergarten before going to Garrett is just as bad. It is 14 miles east @ Sheldon Rd.and Hwy 90. If you break down, no service stations or store. Trains every morning so dont expect to get there on time. Only 2 ways to go, both have train tracks. Sometimes they sit forever. Good luck !
