Friendly staff, great coaches, and tons of wonderful training partners coming from all walks of life. They currently have three locations in Houston for a reason. They are that good. I just moved back to Houston and I wouldn’t train BJJ or Judo anywhere else if I lived in the Loop. The below picture is from the Judo class, where we had 3 competitive black belts that are willing to share their wealth of knowledge.

Choosing a gym when starting as a white belt can be a daunting task in a city as big as Houston. Having many options and reading plenty of reviews led me to go for Revolution as my first choice. Many of training hours later, I am beyond happy to have made this decision and that I joined this family. Their communication and support is truly amazing when you have not only great professors but great training partners who take you under their wing and push you to be better every single day you train. The support aspect goes beyond the mats as I have seen many times members supporting each other in times of need, talking and sharing about their hobbies, passions and goals. The competitiveness aspect of BJJ is present in every single session but I never felt that I am training with someone who has bad intentions that could lead to injury and everyone is also open to guide and help me when asking for tips.Excellent facilities that are always clean, great training partners and awesome staff. Don’t think about it twice and join.

The instruction is Okay. Ive trained in Muay Thai Kickboxing for 2 years now and I can at least kind of say that the instruction here is Decent. We worked one routine for an hour. The routines combination flow was unnatural, it had no flow. The instructor did know what he was doing though. Also, theyre more expensive than Urban Jungle Self-Defense, and youd probably get more bang for your buck going to Urban Jungle than here.Urban Jungle also has a much more professional setting, offers Free water, and is much more accommodating. Urban Jungle also accepts credit cards, has better fitting rooms, and has much more space to accommodate more students, with a cleaner atmosphere. These guys, with the exception of Judo, teach the same thing as Urban Jungle. This is actually a great gym. If you just want to be here, youll be okay.😊😊😊

I was in town visiting family and wanted to train while in Houston. I always find it interesting to train at other gyms to see how the instruction and styles differ across different schools. I live in Phoenix and have trained in San Diego and a couple of other cities in TX during my travels. Let me just say this gym is top notch.I called Revolution and spoke to Jeff Messina, the gyms Professor, and he was friendly and invited me in to train. Upon arriving, he was friendly and spent time getting to know my training background. There was plenty of mat space and everything was clean (bonus). After the warm ups, we drilled some standing guard passes and then sweeps from the bottom. Jeff pointed out some important details on these moves that will greatly improve the efficacy of the technique. He paired higher belts with lower belts which was nice because it ensured the techniques were drilled properly. We then worked situational drills using what we had learned during the class. Finally, it was time to roll. I rolled with a couple of blue belts, a purple belt, and a white belt. Everyone was really friendly and I didnt have to look around or ask for a training partner. I am only a white belt but I can say the skill level of these guys is high level. Even the white belt was a force to be reckoned with. You can tell these guys have been well trained and are very respectful of their teammates and the art.Great gym, I want to train here!!

Ive been attending Revolution Dojo for several months now, and learning both BJJ and Judo. Now, I never have done this type of thing before, but always been a very active person, and had a slight competitive bug. Joining Revelotion Dojo has been a tremendously great experience. Ive learned so much in both arts. I just competed in my first Judo tournament the other day. Im in my early 40s, if that tells you anything. Great experience. If you have any interest in training in martial arts, I highly recommend signing up at Revolution. Talk to the professor and coaches there. This is their craft, they take it seriously, and they will guide you. They want you to learn, and they want you to enjoy it. Ive met so many great people at this club and they all have different reasons for joining. Things like getting in shape, self defense, just to learn something new, and wanting to compete. Your confidence will go up, you will be more humble, and meet great people. Most importantly, if you ever get into a fight (competing or on the streets) you may loose that battle, but you wont get your ass beat.

Theres a reason why everyone has rated this gym five stars. Everyone comes from a variety of back grounds at this gym but all understanding and very helpful when it comes to your learning curve. Im pretty skinny and like a twig I will basically get blown 6 miles down the road when the wind picks up so picking up BJJ was very intimidating at first, but every lesson Ive attended has been worth progressing toward my goals. They say you make your best friends in college but Id say here at Revolution, this is definitely as close as it can get to that college experience as far as making friends (Without dreary all nighters etc etc..). Cant say enough and if youre reading this and end up coming to this gym youll probably be writing this review a couple years down the road.

This is the premier place to learn the gentle art. Ive been a member for over ten years from its humble beginnings on Pinemont Street to the state of the art location in Katy. Jeff is one of the best teachers around and it reflects with his students medaling in all the tourneys they enter. Jeff also earned his blackbelt by winning the National Championships by submitting all opponents in the Absolute. Wether you are there for self defense or want to be a professional fighter, the atmosphere is like a family, everyone is willing to help and show technique. Revolution also has a multitude of classes from Competition BJJ to Kickboxing. They also have an executive lunch class taught by Mike Jackson who is a brown belt under Jeff Messina. I highly recommend this academy because of the family environment and the quality of instruction.
