This school does what it advertises to do which is teaching self-defense at its best. The great instructors here teach it every day with lots of empahsis in learning the techniques useful in the street. The black belt degree is of the best quality ever and I have been to several different martial arts school in my 17 years of practicing martial arts in different schools. I am so glad I joined them.

The instructors are amazing and really care about the students and their individual progress. The facility is spacious and clean. They do an amazing job with COVID protocols and my family always feels safe there. The program is useful for all ages and focuses not just on physical abilities, but mental health and leadership qualities, as well. They also have a number of special events, which allow to develop various skills and keep the interest up. Great place all around.

The adult black belt classes are a highlight of my week. I can go burn off stress, see my friends, and learn super fun stuff with the sword, bo staff, and other weapons. The kids classes are a good balance of challenging but also letting them have enough fun they love coming back. Ill be on the side just laughing and watching what the instructor is doing with them. They are also serious about realistic, effective self defense, and thats helped me slowly work old trauma out of my body (taekwondo can be a great complement to PTSD therapy). Im also all about competing, and the instructors have helped me go from being a white belt at my very first tournament to a black belt working toward more serious competitions such as the World Championships. Whatever your goal, they will help you reach it if youre willing to put in the work.

WE LOVE this school!! The instructors/team members are WONDERFUL with all children! They not only teach them karate and self defense but life skills, confidence and leadership! My children have been students there for over 1 yr and its the best choice we could have made.I love how Mrs. Tyree-Sandoval shows the children that respect, courtesy and discipline can go a long way! She is a great role model for my teen daughter, she has not only been a karate instructor but has helped my daughter as a confidant. This has touched my heart more than any karate move she could have learned.Mr. Jason, is so much fun for my son; NOT ONLY a great male figure but also makes karate look cool. He shows the boys in the school about respect and discipline, something that all boys need to perceive from all educators/leaders.Ms. Brittany is a FULL RAY OF SUNSHINE!!! I am very fond of her and of how at such a young age she is more mature than some actual adults are.My family has been very lucky to have had the opportunity to experience a wonderful sport with such great instructors! I would and have recommended this school to every family i come in contact with.

Our family has really enjoyed being part of the L4L team. My son is homeschooled and needed a good after school program that helps run off energy, instill good moral behaviors, and be with kids his own age. My son has improved his listening, respect, and focus. I highly recommend this location and program. The teachers are kind and funny. They do a good job teaching the children and helping the ones who are struggling emotionally. They offer a variety of classes to suit the whole family. L4L has been a blessing to our family and we are super proud to be part of a program raising our future Leaders!!

The instructors of this school in particular Mrs Tyree Sandoval and Mr. Jason are really good in regards to teaching. They are professional with kids and make it fun for them to learn. So the two stars go only to them. Otherwise we just have to say, that the owner Mr. Newberry is only about the financial profit and not about customer service. The yearly membership fee for a family( we have two kids enrolled, cheaper than two single contracts) is pretty high and the non freeze contract (even when you move away or get unemployed) are items to consider, when signing up. With the Covid 19 pandemic as a unprecedented circumstance and a shelter in place mandate, the lessons went online for while and it was not the same experience and especially the value of instruction, which would have been in person. With the infection and death toll rising, we asked for a full or partial reimbursement of our prepaid fee of more than $2000. Yes in total more than $3000 for one year!!! Turns out the owner would not return a cent back, not even the prepaid credit of $120 graduation for our two kids when asked. Graduation costs extra each time, every two month. The owner just mentioned and referred to the opportunity to make up classes that were missed anytime we wanted within the membership year. But at this time we still feel it’s unsafe to see classes at the studio in Houston which is a hot spot for the pandemic. In contrast the swim club for our kids had the courtesy and valued their customers by pausing membership fees during the coronavirus shelter in place order. So therefore being a member of L4L was and is a very disappointing experience, and therefore we do not recommend this martial art schools with this particular owner. Based on our experience, we feel it’s all about the personal profit rather than good customer service and value!

My son was coming here for a few months and we enjoyed it, however My company moved me to the DFW market and I let them know this was the case. Well I just got a bill in the mail today for $2332.50. When I spoke with them to advise I was moving out of the city and my son will no longer be coming I would of expected it to be stopped. Instead they kept charging us. stating the emailed us and everything yet I have not gotten 1 email from them, beware!

Mister Rodriguez moved out from this center and may come 1 day in year or so.A different team (group of ladies) are managing this center which is great flop because of the following reasons1. Trust and Commitments gone. New policies and old commitments dont care... this is really bad2. Punishing the kids and mentally challenging on kids mental abilities3. Fast decisions taking by inexperienced managers. No planning and No roadmap for kids progress. Very bad4. To you make you as member, they give many promise and after you pay amount, they talk in different ways....5. No motivation or no attention to kids. when parents sits there then their focus may be good. if parents not there then no focus, no serious or no attention. These new ladies management is acting ..!Very bad experience and we drop 13 kids from various groups so far since last 2 months. There are better centers. Please trust me ..Dont go there...! Dont believe this new leadershipIf old leadership Mr. Rodriguez come back, then we all 13 families will get back to re-join.Otherwise, please dont go there..

Till August 2017 this center was good in reputation but not now. Mister Rodriguez left this center. Now new people ladies are managing and it is becoming too worst with new policies and harassing kids. they are putting lot of pressure and old commitments gone. Please dont go here. They are not friendly and they are not motivate.New ladies are just time passing and they are just acting infront of parents but they are not serious. Please understand and please try to save kids life. If Mr. Rodriguez come back, yes ..no second thought...we can 100% go.These new ladies are really changing all the old commitments, policies and taking own decisions .. This is the best place to go if you want to take martial arts. I used to train at another studio back in California, but this one is way better. The instructors make you feel at home and give you a hearty family welcome. The pay for this studio is monthly, and they offered free lessons in certain days in places such as AMC Studio 30 a few days ago.The first time you go there, they welcome you with open arms. The instructors are patient and they help you learn the moves, and teach you different life morals and lessons such as discipline, patience, teamwork, leadership etc.Overall, I strongly recommend Leaders for Life Martial Arts (ATA)

My young kids attend this tae kwon do instructional school, and the staff and owners are amazing. I read a couple reviews and feel inclined to note here as Im privy to knowing- Mr. Rodriguez did relocate, due to personal and promotional reasons, but the school has always been run by strong females, and males. The instructors definately bring alot of heart, and structure. Im learning about the Tae kwon do association and values, as are my very young and impressionable school aged children. There are a great deal of advanced students and helpers in the school that add even more value, on top of the black belt teachers. This Leaders for Life program, community and efforts are commendable, and very much appreciated. The progress I have seen in my children is measureable, month over month, season over season, and year over year. My childrens individual needs are known, attended to, and nurtured... in both aspects of strengths and where improvement is even needed. I can highly recommend Leaders for Life to all those reading this review and everything the school stands for and is striving to bring to all ages, students, familes, and the Houston community. Kudos to Leaders for Life and the Houston Team!

My son attended this school for several months, until the pandemic was declared (Coronavirus) because the school was closed he did not attend anymore and they ran the monthly fee for two months but then they started charging again, which does not stop me Just as here in Houston there is an alert level 1 so he cannot attend classes, I will not let my son take that risk! In the best way I have looked for a solution to this because I really would like my son to continue attending this school, but I have not received a good response from the teachers, they are only interested in charging and nothing more! I spoke to break the contract and they told me that we have to pay $ 200, ok when I said to pay them they told me it was not $ 200 but $ 400, my husband went to pay today and after they charged another monthly payment of $ 160 they want us to pay $ 320 (total 480 ) I dont know what to think of these people. Dont even think about signing a contract with them, it is better to look for other options. They should be a little more considerate of people who have problems with the coronavirus. Mrs Sandoval is an arrogant and rude person.
