Both my kids have been coming here for years and they love it! Its great exercise both mentally and physically. The instructors are excellent and take the time to teach them well. Even when they are at home they love doing the exercises as you can see from one of the pics. So very happy we chose this place!!

My sons and I have been practicing Taekwondo at Young Brothers Bellaire for the past 6 years. This is an excellent place for children and adults, and for beginners as well as very advanced martial artists. The owner is Grandmaster Mark Giambi, 9th degree black belt. Master Giambi is highly respected, has awarded more than 2,000 black belts, and trained many competitors including national and Olympic champions. At the same time, he is very friendly, patient, and always willing to explain things. His knowledge of Taekwondo as a traditional martial art as well as an Olympic competition sport are exceptional. There are classes 6 days a week, for toddlers, children, and adults (including teenagers). Typical classes include warm-up, stretching, kicking practice, forms, and sparring. Classes for children are usually led by several instructors. Taekwondo is great for children as it teaches discipline and perseverance. As an adult, I enjoy the stringent workout and focused training that helps relax the mind after a busy day at work.I highly recommend Young Brothers Taekwondo in Bellaire. Covid-19 precautions are in place, everybody wears masks and equipment is sanitized between classes.

My entire family of 7 have trained here for years. One of the best taekwondo schools in the Houston area! Grandmaster Mark Giambi and Master Kim Giambi are excellent. Great training in the true taekwondo spirit and a real family atmosphere. They are awesome for kids of all ages and adults as well. If you are looking to train in taekwondo you have to take a look at this school!

My daughter has been practicing Taekwondo at Young Brothers for four years. She loves the instructors and the classes have helped her to increase her confidence, fitness and flexibility. Further, she has learned so much about discipline, hard work and respect. She asks to attend classes several times a week, and with the flexible schedule they offer, we can make that happen even with being able to continue with other extracurricular activities. Master Giambi and Kim are both so friendly and helpful, and have always made me feel comfortable having my daughter practice at Young Brothers.

My son started to train here more than a year ago. His sparring skills improved from 0 to 60 in a short amount of time. Thanks to Giselle Giambi for the patience and dedication to share her wealth of experience both in local and national competitions. Even if we have to travel longer, what my son gains from this school is worth it. It is a privilege to be under GM Mark Giambi, who is a well respected name in taekwondo in Houston. Master Kim Giambi, who is the heart of the school, is very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!👊

As an adult, I have been practicing Taekwondo at Young Brothers for many years. Benefits include increased fitness level, flexibility, coordination, self-defense and discipline. My two children have been at Young Brothers about 2 years. Classes teach them fitness, self-control and respect. The instructors are highly skilled and teach in a way that makes hard-work and learning fun for the kids. The class schedule is flexible so you can choose days/times Mon-Sat to fit your schedule. I also love the opportunity to practice with womens only class Tuesday afternoons.

Years ago, when I was deciding upon a school for my children to begin training in Eastern martial arts, my primary criteria were that the school must teach traditional technique, discipline, and values- all things I benefited so much from when I was a student of traditional Okinawan Karate. Of all the schools I visited, only one met that baseline. We probably pass 20 different schools to get to Young Brothers in Bellaire, but the caliber of instruction, family atmosphere, wonderful people, and the leadership of someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Master Giambi, all make the commute irrelevant. I am grateful for a place where my time and money is invested in enriching my children physically, mentally, and spiritually, and not in just getting pretty colored belts.

Young Brothers Taekwondo on Bellaire has been a wonderful place for our children to grow up learning not only physical fitness though this type of martial art, but ALSO respect and courtesy towards adults, and discipline. We have been bringing our children for classes there for many years, and my husband and I are so proud of what our son (12) and daughter (10) have accomplished over the years. The owners, the Giambi family, are such warm and caring people, and because of them, we have continued to encourage our children to learn this martial art. Master Giambi himself is truly dedicated to Taekwondo and has taught us to persevere, despite our daughter wanting give up at blue belt. (At four years of age she begged and pleaded with me to let her start taking classes since she saw her older brother doing it.)All of the instructors have been very professional and expect children to try their best, as any parent would want their child to do.The location on Bellaire is great for us, and the class schedule is flexible. I like the fact that there are several class options to choose from on several different days. Classes are given year-round, and you can make your own schedule, unlike most other sports that have seasons with certain practice days and weekend games.I highly recommend Young Brothers as a place for families who want their children to grow up learning the tenets of Taekwondo, that is, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and an indomitable spirit!

My two boys have been with Young Brothers Tae kwon-do for years. They enjoy it and show improvements on and off the class. We are very pleased with Young Brothers, specifically because of their excellent long-time teachers. Our kids get to know the teachers, look up to them and learn a lot more than just Tae kwon-do. At the end of the day, it helps us as a parent.

Lias review is a perfect example of how uninformed perspectives lead to inaccurate comments.YB is one of the most prestigious & successful facilities in the nation. Has been for 30 + years. Unlike too many others, whether a student is a toddler or beginning as middle-aged adult, YB fulfills its commitment to mental discipline, personal responsibility & physical skills. The school & students have won many national championships. But one will find 3d degree, 15 yr-old Black Belts, encouraging and helping 12 & 40 year-old beginners. There are no cliques, pretense or insiders inside the Do Jang. If only such would carry out into the public areas and the parking lot ....Such requires a reciprocal, long-term, commitment from its students (and their parents). In fairness to each of the 100s of students, classes are highly structured, free of disruptions.and - as with any sport - the fun comes from learning and development. As in any legitimate enterprise, success in Tae Kwon Do is a never-ending process of improvement. That is the source of the fun and self-fulfillment.Tardiness, daydreaming or improper technique are corrected with respect, encouragement and empathy, but not subject to any one individuals opinion or sensitivity. Certainly, classes (@ Young Brothers) are not similar to those others that are somewhere between a circus or a daycare center.Having spent more than 6 years with Young Brothers, I know for a fact that all new inquiries receive a detailed explanation that intro sessions (and the included uniform) are designed to provide a trial period, to allow a student to determine whether TKD and the regimen are a good fit for both parties. The cost of the 2 week session barely covers the cost of the uniform, the initial lessons are essentially free.sounds like Lias kids are pretty young. Even the most fundamental sparring and self-defense techniques arent begun until several months into full enrollment - even for adults. As Ive taught all of my pre-teen kids, the only appropriate self-defense is to walk away if possible, if in real danger RUN and scream for, find a safe grown up. IF, and only IF, you have no other option, use your skills. Quickly and efficently..Again, the school is not designed to accommodate students who enroll or attend on a whim, nor lack sufficient maturity. still confused as to whether this particular student was called lazy or the instructor actually said that his/her techniques was the way lazy people do it. big difference between the 2 versions provided. Too much 2d hand info from Lia ...Ive watched well over 400 classes @ all age / experience levels. Ive never seen a single example of any instructor being overly harsh and certainly nothing to the level of Bellaire T-Ball or Middle School football. The Do Jang is not a lounge. Limited viewing of classes is allowed, but the concept of exposing students to changes from 90 degree workout environments to 72 degree air conditioning inevitably results in nausea, cramps and, potentially, physical injury / illness.Over the years, several water fountains have been installed. Thanks to exterior City supply issues, all have resulted in floods. Every other student brings their own water, Ive never heard or thought about this pointless complaint from any other student / parent. And, of course, theres always the bathroom sink ....The parking situation is the result of neighboring merchants, over which Young Brothers has no control, but continues to rely on the common sense and cooperation of its patrons. At any given time, 50+ students and parents can be walking through the traffic. Any inconvenience of parking so as to avoid blind spots or obstruct traffic is offset by common courtesy. Apparently, Lia had previously received an explanation and a warning of the clearly posted parking policies, but she chose to ignore them. Because 3 or 4 other inconsiderate souls were in violation?Would that parents exercise the principles that YB teaches their kids.

Our children started at Young Brothers almost 2 years ago. Since then, in addition to the physical fitness component, we feel like they have learned valuable lessons from Master Giambi and his staff: commitment, delayed gratification, and body control. Taekowndo is a great way to your kids in shape both physically and mentally.Ali Septimus

The short version:+ awesome two-week intro package+ concerns are addressed+ play area for younger siblings- no water fountain for students...- despite the fact that the temperature of the facility is quite uncomfortably warm- instructor called our kids lazy- crowded parking, rude parents- strict no-tardy policytips: bring a water bottle for your child, park at Black Eye Pea, if you dont want your kid to be extra hot, in addition to the two-week fee, buy a logo t-shirt ($15)The long version:Last summer, I brought my son in and he felt like the instructors were too loud and rough. I was really disappointed because he was really looking forward to it.I came back this summer and signed up for the two week session for both him and his little brother. He was excited at first, but after he changed, he was afraid to go in, maybe he remembered that he was scared last time? Anyhow, with the help of the instructor (thankfully!) he eventually made it in and had a great time. One of my friends started her son with us, and she heard the instructor tell our boys during their private lesson, thats not how you do it, thats how lazy people do it. We talked to Kim, the wife of the owner at the front desk, and she assured us that itd be addressed. I felt good that she shared our concern.Today, I came 15 min. late for the younger class (got my class times mixed up) and the receptionist said that my second son was too late, no one is allowed in more than 10 min. late. No exceptions. :( It was noticeably hot right when I walked in and it was unbearable after being there 10 minutes. No wonder all the students are in a t-shirt and uniform pants. We were there for an hour and a half, talk about heat exhaustion. During the break for my first son, he said he didnt have water. There are no water fountains there. Only bottled water for sale. No water fountains at an exercise facility? Then someone asked whos driving a ___. It was me. I asked, do I need to move it for someone because theyre leaving or should I just not park there? He said sometimes you can park there if you leave right after a class... makes sense. It seemed to me several families were there for several classes like I was... Well, I came out and two separate drivers were yelling at me from their car for parking there. I said, Sorry, its only my 2nd day. Yesterday, there were 3-4 other cars parked there so I pulled up next to them, but I wont do it again. Still, they continued to insult me: are you blind? Cant you see? Weve been trying to drive around you. This is the second time youve done this to us. I said, I understand, and another driver yelled, NO, you dont understand! Omgosh, ironic how theyre sending there kids for character building yet berate another person for a mistake in front of their kids.I came inside and the man who asked me was actually the owner. He immediately asked me how it was and if I was ok, as if he had a feeling the crowd would eat me alive. It probably wouldnt have been that bad if he had walked me out, idk. He offered to talk to the parents, but I dont know who they are... I was literally crying at this point. Crying. From taking my kids to martial arts.I was hoping this place would teach my boys self defense and good character, and build a community of respectful families but not here. The drop-off/pick-up/parking craze that accompanies extracurriculars is not for the faint of heart. If you cant handle it, keep your kids at home. This probably isnt the first time YBT has had a parking issue. There needs to be painted lines for parking. I was told by another friend that we can park behind Black Eye Peas, good to know. Too bad I wont be returning. Hopefully, theyll stand by their program and give me a refund, otherwise Im confident my cc co. will remove the cost from my statement... will keep you posted.
