Don’t be fooled by the “all inclusive tuition” my whole class and I were told that the CPR program was included in our payment, but because of Covid, CPR programs have been suspended and we would get a notice when they get the release to resume with CPR courses... first of all, CPR agencies are up and running, they have both online and in person classes. Secondly, when we called and asked about the CPR program we were told that we did not pay for it, ALTHOUGH WE DID BECAUSE OF THIS “all inclusive tuition”. So now, we won’t get our CPR program along with our 100 dollars. Don’t waste your money here, other institutions are currently offering CPR programs

I did both my CNA and phlebotomy certification here and have to say that all the instructors were excellent teachers and mentors. They were very encouraging of our abilities and always made classes fun and engaging to be in. They had us get hands-on right away so we could be prepared for the real-world setting. I would highly recommend Smithwood if you are considering certification in any of these medical fields (I believe they also offer EKG classes now)!

I attended this school several years ago. Everything went well for me. Since then I have been in other fields and Im now looking to take the cna course again (its been years since mine was valid). I went back to check this location because of the pleasant experience I had the first time. The people (I only spoke to the receptionist due to covid)still seem to be welcoming and very helpful, also the offices have been upgraded.**THIS IS A BLACK OWNED BUSINESS.

I am currently attending the phlebotomy program and I can’t be more excited. My classes are almost over and I can say I’m truly happy to start a career but sad to be leaving. The teachers go above and beyond to help you. Wether it’s study groups, group chats and more. They truly care about your success. Mrs. Deborah and Mrs. Dorothy are absolutely amazing! Mrs Deborah goes above and beyond to help you with anything you need. She makes sure you do what you are suppose to, so that you can succeed and go far. The office staff as well is amazing. Mrs. Rikki is always polite and cheerful. She’s always there if you ever have a issue with anything. Mrs. Susan in the front is the sweetest person ever. She’s always smiling and very interacting with students and more. There’s nothing she will not help you with. I also signed up for my EKG class here. I would definitely recommend anyone interested in medical field to attend! I have attended few other schools, but this is by far my best experience.

***BEST PLACE TO GO IF YOU WANT TO GET CERTIFIED IN PHLEBOTOMY*** Ms. Stacy; personally to me; is the best teacher/professor/trainer I have ever had. I loved; loved the program. I was scared of the sight of blood and I was terrified of needles but with Ms. Stacys help, she gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. After completing the course at Smithwood medical institute it actually gave me the courage to finish college without doubt that I didnt have the Mind set for it. At Smithwood they understand that life happens and there will be some bumps in people ways and at Smithwood they are willing to help. All of the stuff plays a part in making everything come together. Ms. Rikki was there holding my hands when i was going through a minor financial struggle and Im glade she never let me quick. Ms. Elezebeth was there keeping everyone on track; which was great for me because I am a big procrastinator and she wasnt having it. This literally was the BEST FIRST decision I have made as a grown adult. I am starting to hit the world on my own and with the help form Smithwood I know I will be just find. I love Smithwood medical institute and if I do plan on furthering my education in the medical field that Smithwood would my first and only choice.

I was in the CNA program from January 20th- February 14th. I learned a lot in those 4 weeks and with anything I didn’t understand, Ms. Talitha and Ms. Netra were there to help me and explain. Ms. Ricki was very supportive with us getting everything we needed to be successful and Ms. Carolyn was always so nice and greeted us every morning. I also want to thank Ms. Tasha for her lesson in CPR and Ms. B Smith for creating this program. Clinicals every Thursday and Fridays also helped in me retaining the knowledge. Because of the staff and this program I passed both my written and skill exam the FIRST time and I am now certified. Thank you again Smithwood!

I had an amazing CNA course at Smithwood. I started my job at Houston Methodist as a PCA last Monday!! I have heard many stories from newly hired CNAs also about the horrible experiences they’ve that at the schools/programs of their choice so I recommended Smithwood. All of the hard work from Smithwood is greatly appreciated. From learning the correct medical terminology, professionalism, clinicals, career day, and even our graduation was such an uncanny experience. I am forever thankful for Smithwood for helping me begin my new journey in the medical field/healthcare. When I had interviews, many people were impressed about how professional my cover letter/resume looked. Smithwood has career day which prepares you for things as such. I recommend anyone to attend Smithwood Medical Institute! You’re really treated like family, everyone is patient, and you get a great hands on experience!! The weeks go by so fast, and you’re like wow I’ve learned that much in so little time. You form relationships with classmates and even your instructors. Everyone motivates you, and you feel confident about everything even when you’re making a mistake.. I made a career change from teaching to now being in the medical field, and I don’t regret my decision at all. I still receive things from Smithwood, and they stay in touch with you even after graduating! ☺️☺️☺️

This school is the best fast track school ever. The staffs main goal is to to get you trained and employed. Miss Ashley Black, the worlds greatest teacher, trained our class to succeed as a Phlebotomist, to know what it means to be a successful Phlebotomist, and know that you will be a successful Phlebotomist before you leave her class. Miss Rickys advice on how to pursue a career in the field that you deserve along with her willingness to get the information you need to succeed, I wouldnt trade it for the world. When I came to the school I didnt know what life changes it would bring but I graduated in July 2016, certified by August 2016 and employed by September 2016. I would recommend Smithwood Medical Institute to anyone. Thank you to enter staff for changing my life.

My name is Tabitha Johnson and I just successfully passed my certified nursing assistant state exam with a perfect score on yesterday! I greatly contribute my accomplishment to this mom and daughter shop, Smithwood Medical Institute! When I made the decision to finally further my education after nearly 12 years... I searched tirelessly through many schools before contacting Smithwood... And also have a friend that previously attended the school that had the best experience! So I called and spoke with Ricki Smith, who was indeed upbeat and very informative. She answered all of my questions and I probably called and talked with her at 5 times before visiting the school... Ricki worked around my busy schedule to meet with me, which really made me feel important! Im a single mother and honestly wasnt sure how I would even pay for the class... Even with a payment plan! But I was determined and honestly felt led to this school... The instructor, Berrilyn Smith, is amazing! She was very thorough and passionate... She didnt mind making herself look silly to drive the point home! Everything was hands on from day one... The school allowed the students to schedule practice time in the lab and work independently... And this proved valuable to my success! Ricki and Berrilyn made themselves available at all times and was greatly supportive throughout the entire process... And even now after completion! I still hear Ms. Smiths voice in my head and felt like she was in the room with me during my skills exam lol... Ricki contacted me with an awesome job lead that I will be interviewing for tomorrow. I will be returning to Smithwood for the Phlebotomy program very soon to continue my training on the path to RN! I would definitely recommend this school! They truly became apart of my family!

I was a student turned employee then student again. I tried twice to complete the phlebotomy course through this school. First time I left was due to a ghetto instructor who talked more about eating, food and her boyfriend than the curriculum. Later on I found out from a former employee that my previous classmates from that same class got to retake the course again at no additional cost. However not for me I had to repay. This time around the instructor was better the new instructor Mrs.Stacy is amazing!!! Never a dull moment or a boring class with her she is hilarious and very knowledgable. The one star is for her. If I could give her 5 stars and Smithwood none I would. I completed the curriculum portion of the course and needed my externship. Everyone else got great clinical sites and times except for me. I was sent to a STD clinic in 3rd Ward where I sat for hours watching the time drag by. I only did 2 sticks for a whole week I was there. The sticks were 1 patient and a worker. When I arrived I was told no student had ever been there or would be returning. The MA I shadowed complained everyday I was there. The entire externship she constantly asked, Why did the school send me there?! Also everyday I showed up about an hour or so she would say, Hey you can leave if you want there are no more sticks for today. Despite the offer I stayed and for 4 days at 5 hours totaling 20 hours. I didnt go Friday because the clinic closes early that day. That same Friday afternoon Ricky from the school calls to tell me that my externship has been terminated. I must not return Monday to that site. I was reported for being unprofessional the MA stated ,I asked her to lie for me. That I had asked her to sign my papers for time I had not been there. THAT WAS A LIE! THIS NEVER EVER HAPPENED! I am called to the school Monday morning to discuss my next options . Despite my effort and time done at the STD clinic it didnt count. I am then told in order to complete the course I must redo the externship all over again at another site. Worst $1200 spent ever.
