My son went to this school 6th to 8th grade. I think its an awesome school. We only had one issue with one teacher Mrs. Moore who needs to be removed from working with children. Other than that no issues and/or complaints.

As of right now, 2018, Sharpstown International is consistently gaining in legitmacy and every day is beginning to compete with more and more schools. The growth in the past two years of our Model UN program (#1 in the district) is insane! There are tons of AP opportunities that are definiely open to students. Keep in mind that we are often confused with Sharpstown Highschool, a school with a really bad rap. As is the focus of our school, I have learned a ridiculous amount of things about the world. I have taken every opportunity that this school has given me in all aspects. I heavilyparticpate in Model UN, in our tier 2 Best Buddies Chapter, Our CIEE study abroad partnership. Students from SIS have gone to China, to South America, to Europe, Australia all thanks to our international program. Our curriculum in and of itself consists not only of the basic subjects, but applications of those subjects on international topics. The community is small but amazingly nice and supportive! Im glad fate brought me here.

This is one of the best schools in all of HISD, Texas and the Nation. The students and faculty are fantastic. The PSAT scores of the 8th and 9th grade students are excellent. The AP Course offerings and the success of the students is exceptional. The culture of the school is loving and nurturing. The students are collectively working to build a better life for themselves and their families.

From an outside point of view, my experience with this school has been unfortunately unsatisfactory. The new magnet program does not warrant the manner in which this school is operating. The administrative staff have been consistently rude, with the exception of the prinicpal and one other staff member. In general, the atmosphere felt oppressive and even agressive. The staff gave the impression of being ignorant or just too busy to be concerned. Obviously in an effort to compensate, several office personel demonstrated rude and arrogant behaviour as it seemed to be the accepted attitude to have amongst these ladies. It should be noted there was one employee who was pleasant and genuinely kind toward students and parents working in the office. She seemed to be over worked and as she was organizing handouts, the other 5 or 6 office employees stood around watching her with little concern. She seemed out of place in this environment and unappreciated. The nurse was very helpful and informative as well. The manner in which the phone is answered should be monitered and recorded for quality assurance. There should be some proper training as to how phone calls are handled appropriately which should include stating a name during the initial greeting. It makes callers uncomfortable to have to ask whom are they speaking to for assistance. The woman who most often answers phone calls is very unprofessional and even juvenile toward callers, I would go so far to say that her demeanor is that of a student attending her freshman year at SIS, which gives her too much credit. Every single phone call to this school has been handled without courtesy and consistently lacking in respect.Overall, the atmosphere is un-friendly and sterile. There is no warmth, no character, no engaging or inviting elements within the energy of the staff, with the principal as the exception (as well as the one lady and nurse). This school is going through a transistion phase, from a very neglected and ill equipped facility to reaching a solid education standard academically, the improvements are absolutely necessary and long overdue. However, in the best interests of the students, the staff of administrative personel and teachers would do well to incorporate and instill human values such as compassion and kindness into the manner in which they work and the examples they provide. To generate a nuturing spirit toward our curious and immature children, the environment they are influenced by, and the adults operating within it, should have the common goal of being helpful and as thoughtful as posible toward the students. The students are still children, after all, not adults and not robots.
