This school has many resources. Unlike the bad reviews, I will focus on the good and bad aspects of the school. The school has free tutoring, opportunities for every student to join clubs such as: Christian on campus, Science, Math, Wrestling, Theater etc. The school has great coaches (football, and wrestling) and the students are encouraged to train independently. GT/Vanguard and advanced classes are available. There are many activities for the parents, and teachers are always available. Bad: Administration changes a lot; but, if you are a parent truly interested in your childs education you will have grade speed and be involved in school activities. It takes effort. Extra credit is available for students who ASK. As for the fights, there are fights in every school, Well? Is this enough information to tell you, West Briar is not failing our students - PARENTS are..I have an idea - train your child to be respectful and be involved in their school. Also, if any teacher speaks badly to a student, do not tolerate this behavior.

This is my childs first year at this school and so far, Im loving it. The principal seems to be very caring and concerned for all of her students. If she sees something wrong with a student, she genuinely goes out her way to fix the problem. Coach Colbert is another person that goes above and beyond to keep kids headed in the right direction. Its not all about sports with him, he makes sure the kids are good academically as well. Mr. Lacy is a teacher that every parent should want teaching their child. Hes not a teacher thats there to collect a check and be on his merrily way. He makes sure ALL of his students retain the information given and wants to see his students succeed in life. Mrs. Ross is a wonderful Reading teacher. She wants kids to excel in her class and push beyond their limits. All schools should have teachers, coaches and principals like these 4 listed and I bet kids would enjoy going to school EVERYDAY. More people like them are needed. Great job West Briar! I wish my child could have attended all 3 years.

As a former student of this school, not many teachers I had still work here, but one of the most memorable is Mr. Lacy. He and I still stay in contact to this day, and Ive seen first hand how much he cares about his students.

Great school, people are saying bad stuff about it, but kids need to experience things. Some kids go to great schools where everyone is all good, but they know nothing about the real world. Send your kids here guys!!!!

It is a good school always having fun but work is the one thing that West briar will make sure u do

6th grade was not okay at the begining of the year but then I liked it at the end of the school year... One thing you do need to work on is working with disability kids like my sister...... My sister has a learning problem and got hardly any help from teachers. My parents would even go to meetings with the teachers and they didnt do nothing. Now shes in summer school.

This is my childs 3rd year at West Briar. There were many discipline problems the first two years but thanks to the new principal, Ms. Simpson, the majority of those issues are all in the past. West Briar has an incredibly strong dance/cheer program, offers nearly every sport imaginable and has a club for just about every childs interests. We did see quite a bit of turnover the first two years with teachers but this year there have been some excellent teachers hired for 2013/14 and I anticipate this trend will continue. The only reason that I am not giving the school 5 stars is because there does need to be some improvement in stepping up the rigor of academics in the higher level GT & Pre AP classes in preparing these kids for high school. I have no doubt that this is going to be the primary focus for Ms. Simpsons second year as principal. Overall, my childs experience at West Briar has been night & day between 2011/12 & 2013 and Im really happy we stayed at the school. Public school is reality and as much as I would love to shelter my babies they need to be introduced to the real world sooner or later. I look forward to sending my 5th grader to West Briar next year!

This school is amazing you will not regret going here at all. I am a student from West Brair and it is soo good especially if you are going to 7th grade and you get a teacher named Coach Coulter he is amazing and so is Ms.Batiste.They think of her as harsh but she really is not she is an amazing teacher!!! And Ms. Simpson is an amazing principal!!! she even one 2nd for principal of the year award

Great school! Just the problems with those kids with social issues. If the mapping boundries could be changed the riff raffs that come to school because they have to may be pushed out of such a pleasant school zone.

Its actually amazing there. I thought that itd be nasty and very dirty but all I can say now is that this school really knows how to prove me wrong

My son is wrapping up 3 years at West Briar Middle School and I am happy to report hes done well academically and has mastered a musical instrument. Let me start by saying that the music teach, Mr. McDaniels is straight out of the movie, Mr. Hollands Opus. He has such love and drive to teach kids music through their instruments that he is the top teacher as far as I am concerned at the school. My son lacks the passion to make music a profession or even a focus, but he has grown thanks to that man and his unwavering ability to provide opportunities for kids to perform and go to contests/recitals. I agree that the school was pretty ruff in the past, with students who should be somewhere else but not in a public school where kids are trying to learn. The new principle has addressed that issue well in my opinion. The homework is a little light in my opinion and could be much more demanding. Our son was having trouble in Math, but thanks to talking to the teacher/changing teachers and MATHNAISUM, which is nearby, we solved that problem and our son has been an A student since 7th grade. Like all schools, there are poor, good and great teachers, which is the most important thing to look for in a school, beside making sure your child feels safe at the place he spends 8 hours a day. Bottom line, if the current administration continues to improve the safety as it has done, along with better scores on STARR, I think W. Briar Middle School is a fine place to send your child.

I hate this school for many reasons.1. Teachers are rude and disrespectful especially that white fat woman in the eight grade section. I was walking pass her when she turned around and gave me this evil eye look.2. You guys have the worse teachers I have ever meet their enthusiasm is so low and boring they cant even get me to be serious about my education. If you dont understand something all they say is * come to tutorials* which Ive gone to and they just give you a piece of paper with the work you have to do and when you ask them for help they literally just tell you look at your journal with the terrible notes I gave you.3. Where the hell is all the money going!! All the lunch tables have missing seats and why is our technology so far behind.!!?4. Why do you guys keep giving us HW during the weekends especially the social studies teachers you guys stressed us out enough and the weekend is our only time to rest and yet more HW how lovely.-If you ever think of bringing your child here dont, and this is coming from a student that attendes WBMS take your child to a better school district like Katy ISD and better you save like $60 dollars instead of buying uniforms.
