1st School in Houston named after a Hispanic woman that really cared about the community. YBN School of Excellence the children were very respectful during the renaming.

I attended Stonewall Jackson when it was a junior high. This school could be a great place to educate children but it is run by HISD and the unions. They have more interest in political correctness than childrens education. They should bow their heads in shame. We need to return control of education to the community. Read the other reviews. This is no place a responsible adult would ever send his or her child.

This school is by far the worst when it comes to bullying, my son has been attending this school since 6th grade and now going to the 8th and has been in a fight every other day smh behind being bullied.. Im the type of parent who doesnt play when it comes to my kids, on several occasions I have showed up at the school demanding answers and they begin to act as if they care but really dont do anything about the situation. 1st thing Monday April 16, 2017 I will be contacting the school board. Enough is enough!!!

My son attended the school the whole year of sixth grade and The First beginning of seventh grade he had a horrible experience !in my opinion this is the worst school ever! he was bullied and spit at my son never wanted to press charges on some of these kids but he said he never had any good memories of the school mabe its not as bad as back then but its still bad! This school really needs a strtict law about Bullying! There is also a lot of fights ! I would not recommend this school for someone who really wants the kid to get a good education. Thankfully were finally moved out to better School District which is pasadena ISD he goes to Southmore intermediate they are really good with bullying and they do not tolerate bulling.

I attended Jackson M.S. Back in the late 80s,87-88 if Im not mistaken....Back when Mr.Azios,( I think thats the correct spelling) was handing out paddles like candy.....For everything he wanted to padle you.....Mr.Munoz patrolled the halls back then. There were alot of fights back then...Mrs.Shaw was my Homeroom teacher, nice lady.I see the school has changed its name and some things have changed outside. But if its anywhere near how it was back then, than yes,its a bad school.Had a blast going there, you used to be able to just walk out of class, skip to all 3 lunches,I used to just walk off campus, get on the Metro right in front of the school and ride downtown,Id be back in time to catch my school bus to ride home.Had to,my mom was my bus driver.Aint that some sh#!....Non the less,I was an experience I will never forget.....Had some of my best times in school there..academically not so much......But roaming those halls are some good memories....Mr.Brooks (Science 6th grade) Mrs.Ramirez (English) (6)Mrs.Robinson (Reading) (6) Mr.Castro (Math) (6) Coach Simms....

Obviously nobody in the comments actually went to school (or paid attention for that matter) being that there isnt one grammatically correct or educated comment about the school... With that being said, ((although Im currently a college student) I attended this school 6th and 7th grade and it was the best two years of school Ive ever experienced (including high school). Yes, there a lot of fights (at least when I attended, there was at least one almost every single day) at this school BUT 1.it is in the hood (so what else do you expect) 2. Due to the fights, drama is almost non-existent (compared to upper class suburb schools). They dont send people to CEP a lot, many children get sent to CEP due to their disrespect, disobedience, etc. Almost the entire teaching staff has been replaced with better teachers (since Ive been there) so Im sure academic standards are a bit higher. In 8th grade my family moved to a higher class (wannabe hicktown) suburb (where i graduated from) and I HATED absolutely every minute of every day I was there. You want your children to grow up narrow-minded, ignorant, fake, immature, snobby, sneaky and petty, take em to the burbs... You want them to grow up with some hair on their cojones, take em to Jackson
