My daughter has been in Kumon for two years (since 1st grade) and it has been amazing for her. We started because the method of teaching reading that her otherwise excellent school was using just wasn’t working for her. She was getting frustrated and was saying she didn’t like reading.A co-worker of mine said her daughter went to the Southeast Kumon, so even though we live on the other side of town, I called and explained what was going on to Ms. Anita. She was wonderful, she got us all set up quickly and within a few months my daughter was reading! Now she reads chapter books for fun, including some that are a grade level ahead. The Kumon reading instruction method plus Ms. Anita’s and teachers’ guidance was what made reading click for my daughter. In addition, during this past year of online school because of the pandemic, Kumon was a lifesaver. As a university professor who taught all of my classes online in the 2020-2021 school year, I know all teachers did our best with virtual learning; but for some subjects, online just wasn’t effective. I’m so thankful that my daughter had Kumon because that 30-45 mins twice a week allowed her to continue improving her reading despite the unprecedented circumstances we were all in.I highly recommend the Ms. Anita’s Southeast Huntsville Kumon Math & Reading Center to any parent who wants to help their child learn to read as well as help them develop confidence in and a love for reading.

Definitely a place you want your child to learn math and reading. The Kumon program is great and well prepared. Ms. Anita, the owner, is a wonderful person, highly skilled to work with kids. My daughter started this program when she was 4. Now she is 5 and a half and is already at the 3-4 grade level. And she hasnt even been to first grade yet! Of course, you have a job to do as a parent as well and it is not always and easy job. Sometimes it is also a struggle for your child but the satisfaction is guaranteed (not to mention about the educational part of the success). I also appreciate the fact that I always felt comfortable to leave my child at school and just go for shopping. Great owner, great teacher, safe and learning-rich environment for every child.

My daughter started KUMON at age 3 as she had a strong desire and enjoyed learning. We put her in the reading program and not only is she advanced far above her peers we noticed that it has improved her behavior as well. She is now 4.5 years old and the structure and daily routine of working on her booklets has been great for us.

Both of my children started Kumon this past October. Kumon has helped my beginning reader gain confidence in his reading and learn his addition and subtraction facts. For my older child, Kumon has helped advance her math. This program has encouraged my children to become self-learners. Yes it is extra work, and there are times they are times they do not want to complete this extra work, but what they are gaining in the program is evident in so many ways.

We love Kumon!!!! Our daughter started at Kumon when she was in Kindergarten and I attribute her learning to read to her being in Kumon. She also got into the advanced reader program in her school and I think that is because Kumon helped her to learn how to reach thoroughly and quickly! She also learned how to do math while in Kumon! She was very far ahead of her school friends by the end of the school year.We are so grateful that we learned about Kumon and that we enrolled our daughter in the math and reading program!!!! We believe the program is worth every dime and highly recommend it!!!

I put my kids in THIS SPECIFIC kumon. Everyday, my kids would come out and say Ms. Anita never teaches us ANYTHING. She always tells them to go to the grading table. It was annoying how I got to grade the work they had to do because my back injury , and they get everything wrong they don’t talk they just give stacks of work sorry Anita but it’s stressful.

I was a student at KUMON for 4 years, and in my time there, I advanced far ahead of my grade level and gained an advantage in my education. As a senior in high school about to graduate, I can verify that doing KUMON made my academic career so much easier. I haven’t had to worry about struggling in any math class, even my BC Calculus class, and I have more time allotted to work in other classes and pursue other interests. It is easy to see that some of the negative reviews for KUMON are from kids who don’t understand the purpose of KUMON. KUMON is not established to magically give knowledge to students or to push students through an easy program for an empty sense of accomplishment. It is designed to provide the resources and teaching necessary for productive learning and successful retaining of knowledge. Ultimately, this requires both work from the teacher and the student. Ms. Anita, the instructor, truly has the students’ education in mind. She does a great job of organizing all of her students and working with them while also pushing them to maximize their full potential. This evidently means that students who don’t want to learn will assume she is being harsh or unreasonable. In the end, all anyone can do is encourage learning and work ethic; it is still the desire of the student to learn that ensures success, not any other factor.I began to work at KUMON last year, and I realize that from the years of learning there, I have even gained the necessary knowledge to teach others in math and reading on a fundamental level. I find that I am still learning new things as a tutor.I would say that KUMON is one of the few learning institutions that stays true to traditional values of learning while allowing students to get ahead of their level. As a former student, I can understand why negative reviews by other students have been written. At times, KUMON was extremely frustrating and I did not enjoy it; this is part of the process, there would’ve been something wrong if I wasn’t challenged to expand my knowledge.I recommend KUMON to any students looking to get ahead or to any parents wanting to invest in their child’s education.
